Gov. Zulum lays foundation for construction of Higher Islamic College in Kwaya Kusar LGA.

Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum have early this morning proceeded to Kwaya Kusar LGA after spends three days in Biu Local Government Area of Southern Borno.

On arrival Gov zulum lays foundation for the construction of Higher Islamic College in Kwaya Kusar LGA.

The project consists of 48 Classroom, Administrative blocks with an integrated curriculum.

Zulum opens Miringa Medical Centre not put to use by donors

In response to a peaceful roadside demonstration by some residents, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum on Thursday, travelled to Miringa town in Biu Local Government Area to open a Medical Centre said to have been funded by Chevron Nigeria Limited through collaboration with an “Agbami Group”.

The Medical Centre was said to have been completed and virtually commissioned in October 2020, but had no staff and not put to public use.

On Tuesday, dozens of residents in Miringa town stood by the roadside while Governor Zulum’s convoy was heading to Biu township from Buratai.

Majority of the residents displayed placards urging the Governor to open a Medical Centre that was left unused since 2020 when it was completed.

The Governor came out of his vehicle, interacted with the residents to hear their demand, and thereafter promised to address their need within 48 hours.

Zulum immediately directed the Borno State Ministry of Health and the Special Adviser on Projects Monitoring and Evaluation to relocate a team and mobilize resources for the purpose of assessing the facility, fixing any problems, and putting the centre to public use.

To see things for himself, the Governor was in Miringa, and during his inspection of the Medical Centre, Commissioner of Health and Human Services, Professor Mohammed Arab Alhaji said his team had repaired some leakages found from ceilings and was deploying two nurses to join 41 community health workers deployed from a neighboring healthcare centre.

Arab explained that the Medical Centre was constructed and fully equipped by Chevron through a collaboration with Agbami Group.

He said Chevron’s collaboration had provided a 100 KVA generator, a solar system, and water facilities to the Medical Centre and commissioned it virtually in 2

Zulum at Buratai: Opens new school, approves 20 more teachers

… ‘We employed 1,000 teachers, built 24 mega schools, rehabilitated 600 classrooms’

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, was yesterday (Tuesday) at Buratai village in Biu Local Government Area where he commissioned a newly built mega school with capacity for 1,500 students.

Zulum also directed the recruitment of an additional 20 teachers to be selected from the host community for deployment to the Government Secondary School.

The governor explained that the immediate recruitment will be on ad-hoc basis but teachers who prove their capacity and commitment will be given permanent employment and fully integrated into the state civil service.

‘Zulum employed 1,000 teachers, built 24 mega-size schools, rehabilitated 600 classrooms’

In his welcome address, Borno State’s Commissioner for Education, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe, highlighted that in the last three years, Zulum administration was able to recruit about 1,000 teachers who were trained and posted to schools.

The commissioner also said that accommodation for teachers were constructed in Maiduguri, Banki and Mafa towns.

Wakilbe recalled that Zulum has so far built 24 mega-size schools and rehabilitated over 600 classrooms within 100 schools across the state.

He noted that 458 WASH facilities were also constructed across 350 primary and post-primary institutions in the state.

Meanwhile, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum yesterday announced his approval for the construction of 200 housing units in Miringa.

Like Buratai, Miringa is also a village in Biu Local Government Area.

Zulum noted that the 200 houses will reduce housing deficit, particularly now that internally displaced persons were safely returning to their communities.

Flooding: Zulum assigns Deputy Governor to assess communities, support victims

… Visits Moro-Moro, promises lasting solution

Worried by the destructions caused by floods in some communities across Borno State, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has assigned his Deputy, Umar Usman Kadafur to lead an assessment team to a tour of all affected Local Government Areas for the purpose of ascertaining extent of damages, and to support victims.

Zulum announced the measure on Tuesday after assessing a vegetable market at Moro Moro, a community around customs in Maiduguri, which has been ravaged by flooding.

The Governor commiserated with flood victims across the State.

“We are once again visited by this unfortunate flooding which has affected communities not only in Maiduguri but in some Local Government Areas. Insha’Allah, the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Umar Usman Kadafur will be heading an assessment team that will visit all affected communities in all the Local Government Areas that have been affected, with a view to determining extent of damages, and identify victims for the purpose of intervention by the State Government” Zulum said.

The Governor also spoke on problems associated with blocking of water ways, citing that more than 1,000 houses have been illegally built on routes that ought to be water channels and as a result, forcing water to pass through communities and cause destructions.

Zulum said the State Government will provide temporary measures for now but after the rainy season, there will be need for permanent measures that may require resettling shelters currently located on water ways, after coming with a consultative approach.

The Governor, it can be recalled had in July this year, visited communities affected by flooding in Damboa and offered them support.

Zulum had two weeks ago, also sent out a Committee headed by Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawan, APC’s candidate for Borno Central Senatorial election in 2023

How Zulum offered N10m, house, scholarship to family of Bama’s CJTF commander killed by Boko Haram

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has approved the release of N10m and a house to the bereaved family of Babagana Mallam Tela famously called Kadau who was overall commander of the ‘Civilian JTF’ in Bama Local Government Area, before he was killed by Boko Haram in June, 2022.

The ‘Civilian JTF’ is a prominent volunteer group of combat ready youths, famous for using their local understanding of Borno’s terrain to fight Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists.

The ‘Civilian JTF’ works closely with the Nigerian military and has members operating under sectors modeled after military battalions.

Kadau was commander of “sector one” in Bama before he was ambushed by Boko Haram, while his team went on routine patrol outside Bama town.

Zulum, during his meeting with counter-insurgency volunteers in Bama during the week, paid tribute to Kadau for paying the supreme price in defense of Borno and Nigeria.

Before leaving Bama on Thursday evening, Zulum visited Kadau’s deceased family to register his condolence, after he had previously sent representatives.

The Governor directed the release of N10m for the families upkeep over a period of time. He directed that the family opens an account with joint signatories, to which the N10m, he said, was going to be paid.

Zulum also directed that a house worth another N10m be purchased for Kadau’s bereaved family so that they should stop paying rent.

Governor Zulum further directed that all children of the late commander be awarded Borno Government’s scholarship throughout their education which he described as “very small reward for all that Kadau did in his contributions to returning peace in Bama and by extension Borno State and Nigeria”.

Governor Zulum had before that donation, offered cash, food and textiles to all 683 volunteers involved with fighting Boko Haram in Bama and he had paid tribute to all of them for the

Stakeholders praise Zulum for keeping promise

It Can be recalled that late 2021 Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum Mni Fnse in Shani when he attended Minwara Festival promised to end Salary issues in Shani local government which was as result of Varification Conducted .
Today being Wednesday 10th of August 2022, a High powered Committee was Sent by the Governor to meet Stakeholders with a View to finding a lasting Solution and permanent end to the issues.

On Arrival in Shani, the Committee which is headed by Hon. Sugun Mai Mele, Commissioner of local government and Emirate Affairs, Comrade Saina Buba, Commissioner of Youths Empowerment Sport Development and Poverty Alleviation as member were received by the Council Chairman and paid a royal Homage to the Emir of Shani, Alhaji Muhammad Nasir Mailafiya.

In his remarks, the Local Government and Emirate Affairs Commissioner extended Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum's Greetings to the Emir and Commended him on his examplary leadership in his domain. On their mission to Shani, the Commissioner officially on behalf of the state said they were in the place on two missions. One to announce to him the Establishment of State College of Education in the area and two to to engage Critical Stakeholders with a view to ending the lingering Salary issues in the Council.
On his own part, the Emir thanked the governor for sending the team while thanking him for finding Shani worthy for the establishment of the College . Meanwhile, he raised some concerns which the Committee promised to Foward to the Governor.
