Nnamdi Kanu Issues New Directives to IPOB, Supporters Ahead of Supreme Court Ruling

A statement by Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, after his routine visit to the separatist leader at the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS), Abuja on Thursday revealed the seven directives.

Ahead of the Supreme Court ruling, the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has sent a message to his followers.

A statement by Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, after his routine visit to the separatist leader at the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS), Abuja on Thursday revealed Kanu's seven directives to IPOB members.

Kanu, first, called on his supporters to be cautious of their enemies and maintain peace in all quarters adding that IPOB is a peaceful self-determination movement.

He went further to condemn all forms of criminalities and those behind them as a second point, while he stressed as a third point that he was not giving any order to any group to engage in any form of criminality.

The statement partly read, “Furthermore, Onyendu directed me to issue the foregoing statements:

“1. That this critical time calls for the greatest circumspect among his followers because the enemies are relentlessly exploiting the vulnerable, to sustain their status quo, and further blackmail the IPOB, ably led by Nnamdi Kanu, which is a peaceful self-determination movement.

“2. He has a hard stance in the condemnation of crimes and dissidents and reiterated that he has never condoned nor supported criminality of any form. Hence, the criminal elements who are involved in making lives unbearable to our people should be immediately fished out and dealt with as such. They have no place in IPOB’s peaceful self-determination movement.
“3. That the general public and indeed his people should be notified in unmistaken terms that nobody is receiving any instruction from him for the purpose of encouraging dissidents’ behaviours and accordingly, disassociates himself from any person(s) who is mischievously feeding the public with such blatant falsehood. Kanu stressed that he has since made his stance public, which position is clearly contained in a viral short clip, recorded during one of his appearances in Court.”
The separatist agitator on the fourth point called for complete tranquillity in the Southeastern part of Nigeria which has witnessed all manners of disturbance and chaos, especially during Monday’s sit-at-home.

Kanu made the fifth point that IPOB was created on a peaceful foundation. He also said it was the activities of assailants that were forcing security agents to unleash terror on the South-East region.

“4. Kanu reiterated his call for total calmness in the entire South-East region and particularly queried the mental state of those who are relentlessly waging war against his people, the very people he had sworn to protect and make life better for.

“5. Kanu’s movement was founded on a peaceful bedrock, in consonance with the universally recognized rights of indigenous people to self-determination, as clearly encapsulated under the extant laws.

“6. That the activities of the dissidents/marauders who engage in criminal activities have further emboldened the Nigerian security agents, to unleash terror on innocent people of the South-East region,” the statement said.

Finally, Kanu said the court rulings in his favour might not go down well with the federal government, thus asking his supporters to be peaceful and calm to avoid being blackmailed.

The statement added, “7. In conclusion, Kanu reminds UmuChineke to note that the successive landmark victories he recently recorded in various Courts of competent jurisdictions against the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), may not have gone down well with his traducers, including the FGN. Hence, he insists that all hands must be on deck to enable saner minds to identify the real enemies in our midst, and those being used by the establishment to try to implicate and/or blackmail him.”

Speaking about the court case, it said, “From every indication, it is very likely that a date will soon be assigned at the Supreme Court of Nigeria for the hearing of Kanu’s Appeal against the Order staying the ex*****on of his judgment. We will not hesitate to inform UmuChineke, through the approved channel once a date is given.

The young Nigerian lady who made a lot of headlines for jumping into the Lagos Lagoon Thursday afternoon has been identified.

She is Adetutu Adedokun, a staff of the Department of State Services (DSS).
It was reported that Adedokun jumped into the lagoon following a heated argument with her boyfriend, who had recently proposed to her.

According to the Uber driver, Adedokun had an argument with her boyfriend and in the heat of the altercation, she ordered him to stop and disembarked from the cab.

She then headed towards the railings of the bridge and plunged into the lagoon.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu who confirmed the incident said a search and rescue team had been mobilised to search for her body.

Only four months ago, she received commendation from the DG, DSS, as the best unarmed combat operative in her set.

However, there have been conflicting reports regarding Adedokun’s fate. While it was reported on Instablog that she was rescued yesterday, other reports say the search for her body is still ongoing.

IGP explains why Tinubu is yet to prosecuted for alleged certificate forgery

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, has told a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja that presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, has no pending petition or criminal matters with the police anywhere in the country.

The IGP disclosed this in response to a lawsuit filed by a Civil Group seeking an order of mandamus to compel him to arrest and prosecute Tinubu for perjury and certificate forgery.

The Incorporated Trustees of Center for Reform and Public Advocacy, a civil society organization (CSO), had claimed that Tinubu lied under oath when he tendered his credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in 1999 while contesting in the 1999 governorship election in Lagos state.

However, the IGP through his lawyer, Wisdom Madaki, said the police have no power to prosecute Tinubu without any known offence committed.

He noted that the two petitions against Tinubu were predicated on allegations that had been adjudicated upon by the Supreme Court in 2002 in a suit filed by the late foremost human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi.

Alkali stressed that the case had been resolved by the Supreme Court and there was no need for the police to reopen the matter.

The IGP who asked the Federal High Court to dismiss the suit brought against him and the Nigeria Police Force for want of merit and jurisdiction added that the police does not need any court order to make an arrest and prosecute since it derives its powers from the Constitution and statutes.

Ruling on the case on Tuesday, November 1, Justice Inyang Ekwo granted the counsel to the Civil group, Mister Eme Ekpu’s request of being given more time to go through the counter affidavit police and reply formally.

Ekwo then fixed January 19, 2023, for the hearing of the suit.

The Nigeria Police has disclosed that efforts are been made to ascertain the circumstances that led to the death of Ifeanyi Adeleke, a son to the hip-pop singer, Davido and his partner Chioma Rowland.
According to the PUNCH, the spokesperson for the Lagos state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin assured that every CCTV found in Davido’s residence will be reviewed by the security agency.

Hundeyin words: “CCTV will be reviewed if we find any installed at his house.”

In collaboration with Hundeyin’s submission, a former commissioner of police in Ogun state, Edward Ajogun, said that closed-circuit television (CCTV) could help in throwing more light on the events that led to Ifeanyi’s death.

Ajogun also said that it is expected that the singer’s house in Banana Island will be adored with such tech gadgets that could help the police in solving the mystery behind the death of the three-year-old boy.

His words;

“Going by the personality of Davido, one should expect that all of these security gadgets are already on the ground. Someone living at Banana Island will surely have all these security gadgets installed.

“CCTV is like a third eye; it is a technology built to put an environment under surveillance. It is built to serve the purposes of prevention and detection of crime.

“As a crime detection technology, where crime has happened, the CCTV will assist in giving an insight into how that particular crime happened and making it easier to determine who perpetrated that crime.”

Bags of co***ne packaged as tablets of bathing soap have been intercepted by men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at Enugu airport.

27-year-old Madu Chukwuemeka Miracle pictured above, arrived at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, AIIA, Enugu from Nairobi, Kenya via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Wednesday 26th Oct.

A statement released by NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, says a search carried out on his three bags revealed seventy-six (76) foreign bathing soaps made with co***ne in one of the bags while another has two plastic bottles containing cream-like liquid, which tested positive to co***ne. The co***ne bars weigh 10.650 kilograms while the liquid co***ne weighs 2.496 kilograms, bringing the total weight to 13.146 kilograms.

A video posted online by the spokesperson of the agency, Femi Babafemi, shows the banned substance molded in form of tablets of bathing soaps and covered with wraps that read bathing soap.
