NRCS ,KOGI BRANCH FLAGOFF DISTRIBUTION OF NON- FOOD ITEMS AND CASH TO 200 HOUSEHOLD IN LOKOJA LGA'S OF KOGI STATE,
The Nigerian RedCross Society, Kogi State Branch flagoff the distribution of non food Items and ATM cards to 200 Household beneficiaries that were affected by flood in Lokoja the State capital on 14th December,2024.
The programme was supported by the International Federation of RsdCross and Red Crescent (IFRC) ,NRCS in collaboration with the European Commission's Directorate General for humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO) to support victims of the 2024 flood disaster in Kogi State.
The flag off ceremony which has in attendance Mr,Adeyemo Andronicus Director of if safe access and Weapon Modelization NRCS NHQ, said "that the assistance was targeted at the vulnerable victims of the flood disaster who were carefully selected for the exercise, through criteria during the registration programme".
The aim is to alleviate the hardship that has been experience as a result of the recent flooding in the State.
He expressed concern that the non food Items and cash support will bring succour to the victims and help them to regain their life balance.
Earlier, the Kogi State Chapter Chairman of NRCS, mr. Benjamin Ajodo who disclosed that the intervention was a heart of gesture from the NRCS in response to the 2024 flood disaster.
Aojod explained that, the non food (NFI's )Items, made up of plastic buckets, jerrycans, Aquatab and ATM cards were intended to assist the vulnerable in the society.
Mr.Benjamin pointed out that people with disabilities, pregnant women, the aged, breastfeeding mothers, lactating, orphans made up the list of vulnerable people considered for the exercise.
The total number of beneficiaries is One thousand One hundred (1100) persons which were selected from 11 communities in three(3) LGA's:- Lokoja, Kogi and Idah LGA's in Kogi State.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries mr Mary Ojo commended the kind gesture of NRCS at this critical period of economic hardships where people find it difficult to feed three square meals in the country.
She promised to make use of the relief materials judiciously.
