NRCS ,KOGI BRANCH FLAGOFF DISTRIBUTION OF NON- FOOD ITEMS AND CASH TO 200 HOUSEHOLD IN LOKOJA LGA'S OF KOGI STATE,

The Nigerian RedCross Society, Kogi State Branch flagoff the distribution of non food Items and ATM cards to 200 Household beneficiaries that were affected by flood in Lokoja the State capital on 14th December,2024.

The programme was supported by the International Federation of RsdCross and Red Crescent (IFRC) ,NRCS in collaboration with the European Commission's Directorate General for humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO) to support victims of the 2024 flood disaster in Kogi State.

The flag off ceremony which has in attendance Mr,Adeyemo Andronicus Director of if safe access and Weapon Modelization NRCS NHQ, said "that the assistance was targeted at the vulnerable victims of the flood disaster who were carefully selected for the exercise, through criteria during the registration programme".
The aim is to alleviate the hardship that has been experience as a result of the recent flooding in the State.

He expressed concern that the non food Items and cash support will bring succour to the victims and help them to regain their life balance.

Earlier, the Kogi State Chapter Chairman of NRCS, mr. Benjamin Ajodo who disclosed that the intervention was a heart of gesture from the NRCS in response to the 2024 flood disaster.

Aojod explained that, the non food (NFI's )Items, made up of plastic buckets, jerrycans, Aquatab and ATM cards were intended to assist the vulnerable in the society.
Mr.Benjamin pointed out that people with disabilities, pregnant women, the aged, breastfeeding mothers, lactating, orphans made up the list of vulnerable people considered for the exercise.

The total number of beneficiaries is One thousand One hundred (1100) persons which were selected from 11 communities in three(3) LGA's:- Lokoja, Kogi and Idah LGA's in Kogi State.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries mr Mary Ojo commended the kind gesture of NRCS at this critical period of economic hardships where people find it difficult to feed three square meals in the country.
She promised to make use of the relief materials judiciously.

*PGI STEP DOWN TRAINING IN KOGI STATE BRANCH*

As Protection ,Gender and Inclusion ,Organisational Assessment Project came to an end in Kogi State. Today, the 7th of December, 2024, the NRCS, Kogi State Branch team, organised A1day step down training for it's volunteers to afford them the first hand knowledge of Protection, Gender and Inclusion at the Branch Office in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The training aims to increase the capacity of the volunteers, there by strengthen inclusive structures and mechanisms in the branch Office, given equitable opportunities for people of all gender, identities, background, physical appearances and disabilities.

The Ag.B.S trainer Abdullahi Abubakar, in his words said " PGI is all about the inclusion of everybody to have equal access to all opportunity in Life".
In addition, it is not a stand alone order but rather it as to do with every individuals.

*SKILL ACQUISITION:NRCS:NRCS, KOGI BRANCH MOTHERS CLUB TRAIN 27 VOLUNTEERS ON IZAL PRODUCTION*

As home management is the sole responsibility of mothers to see that the home is conducive for the entire family. The NRCS, Kogi State Branch mothers club trained 27 volunteers on how to produce Izal for house use and venture into enterprenship to enable her manage the home effectively.

The aim of the programme is to make sure that mothers are self employed and also have additional income to fare for the family as a good home makers.

The training which took place on Saturday at the Branch Office in Lokoja, Kogi State, by the Branch mothers club focal person, Haji.Khadijat Abubakar Isa said, there is need for all mothers to be self employed for the home front not to suffer hardship.
She, therefore encouraged every mothers present to make use of this great opportunity jurisduciously and putting everything they've learnt into practice.

A volunteer Aishat Ibrahim, who spoke on behalf of the volunteers applauded the NRCS and mother's club for their proactive effort to build the capacity of the volunteers through skill acquisition activities. Prayed God to strengthen the Society in all ramification.

2024 World First Aid Day Celebration in Kogi State
It was exciting moment on the 8th of September,2024 as NRCS, Kogi Branch team play football match competition in Holy Trinity school field in Lokoja metropolis with eagles team players of Kogi to celebrate this year World First Aid Day with the theme:FIRST AID AND SPORT.
The football match which started at exactly 7:00am in the morning ended by 9:40am with two goals to one in favour of Kogi Branch team players.

Thereafter the volunteers proceeded to the Branch Office and engaged in an indoor games (playing of what & ludo) as part of the activities for the day in the spirit of sport manship.

NRCS, Kogi State Branch gives food Items and customized ATM cards(contain 91,500) to one thousand beneficiaries of year,2022 flood victims in two LGA's of Kogi State.
The LGA's :-Ajaokuta and Bassa LGA's.
The food Items are- Rice 25kg, Bean -12kg , Gari-12kg, Vetegable oil-5litre and Red oil -5litre.
