CROSS ROADS OF LOVE
CHAPTER 1
I had been staring at myself in the mirror for about twenty minutes now. I never knew it was possible for one to be so awed by one's beauty. I knew I was beautiful. Maybe no, people say it to me.
You might have been wondering. My name is Lilly. Daughter of Mr and Mrs Johnson. You will get to know me better with time.
“Latest bride. You're finally going to enjoy it tonight,” Clara toted me back to the moment with her words. Clara is the only friend of mine. She was right anyway, it was my wedding day and I had so much anticipated it and I couldn't wait for Tyler to make love to me.
I gave her a serious look as I walked to sit beside her on the bed, taking enough of her vanilla scent to hold on to, while my gown crawled steadily behind me. “Thank you, Clara,” I said. Even when I looked so gorgeous in my wedding gown, I still felt suffocated. It wasn't easy to be in it, but who am I to complain against Mom's decision? I could barely walk in the body-fitting gown which sincerely did justice to my natural curves.
I have a lot of memories to look back on and my room was one of them. I was seriously going to miss that room, I hauled. It was a part and parcel of my childhood. A rare family picture of my parents, our extended family members and I hung helplessly on one side.
“Omg! Tyler is lucky to have you,” Clara flattered me again. If there was anything I didn't like about Clara, it certainly was not her genuine happiness for my success and her encouragement. I love this girl, I thought to myself while leaning my head on her shoulder enjoying the warmth of her body.
Almost immediately, my phone beeped; a message from Tyler. “ I can not wait to tie the knot with you, angel.” What a beautiful coincidence I thought. I looked at Clara and we both burst into laughter. One that I wished would last till eternity.
I just wished time would fly at this point. First, I wanted to get over the noise coming from every Angle of the mansion- it was just too much. My mother was not helping matters too. She complained about everything. Mom needs to calm down seriously. I hope she doesn't ruin my day.
Secondly, I want to be with the man I have loved all my life. I am eager to see the look on his face while we say the wedding vows. I want to walk by his sides and make jealousy burn in the heart of Sarah. Sarah was Tyler's ex-girlfriend who affirmed that Tyler was not going to marry me.
“I'm going to miss you, Clara.” I held her hands tightly looking into her eyes. She had been my only friend for years, but she was more than enough for me.
“Common! Enjoy tonight with Tyler first before thinking about missing me,” she teased. Well, she was right, the event of tonight after the wedding was part of the things I looked forward to. I have always been a shy person and that puzzled me more.
“I hope you're set.” My mom said after barging into my room and scanning my look, definitely finding some fault in my dress. “ Tyler will be here in a few minutes so…”
“Yes, Mom,” I smiled without standing up so she didn't see anything to complain about. She left.
“Hey you don't do it that way…c'mon don't put it there…” I kept hearing her shout and complain until her voice faded away.
“Let me get the flower girls, I'll be right back,” Clara said as I hugged her tightly. I'm beginning to miss her right away. Silly girl.
After a few minutes of partial silence, I mean inside the room was quiet, but outside was as rowdy as a marketplace, the door opened. Rather than see the cheerful-looking Clara and the flower girls, my eyes were met with a squeezed-faced Clara.
Before I could make any remark, my mom followed and my dad and Uncle Mike were present too, both seemed to be finding answers to only God knows what question. I would have thought they all came to wish me a final goodbye but the look on their faces said otherwise.
“What's happening? Can someone just talk to me?” I screamed holding onto Clara for an explanation. I couldn't believe my legs were already shaking.
“Everything is alright daughter,” my father said unconvincingly. He was not good at hiding expressions. He looked disturbed. I still flaunted my gaze from one person to the other when Mrs Jasmine, Tyler's mom joined us and her stare was worse.
“We just want to say that we'll miss you, Lilly. “ Mother said and everyone except me laughed. Right now, I am a perfect description of a happily sad person. I know I'm going to miss them all so I just hugged them each very tight one more time.

After what seemed like an eternity of preparations and all, I finally found myself walking into the Church. My mom, Clara, and Mrs Jasmine trotted closely behind me while my bridal girls stepped majestically beside me, raising the elm of my gown.
The interior decorations of the church were nothing sort of amazing. Ranging from the seat arrangements to the uniformity in colors of items. All eyes were on me as I strolled patiently, stylishly searching around for Tyler.
You guessed right. I felt so honored. I looked forward to knotting the tie with the man I've loved ever. A rare picture of Tyler smiling while we said the wedding vows displayed in my mind and I couldn't help but smirk.
“I haven't seen Tyler,” Clara whispered to me amidst the blaring sound of romantic music that echoed in the auditorium.
“I haven't too but he should be around soon,” I whispered back. For some reason, Clara's words stirred a feeling of concern within me.
“He's right there, Clara,” I shouted enough for her to hear me this time, leaning my head very close to her left ear. I danced to the modern wedding song that was played, walking majestically to recline beside my husband.

“Let anyone talk, if there's any who is against the joining of these two as couples.” The priest’s voice severs through the silence. My face cut across Sarah's and she gave me a disdainful look.
My heart now beats in thousands, seriously praying that she doesn't ruin my day. Well, she didn't.
Soon, it was the most anticipated part of the wedding ceremony- saying the vows. “Once this Is done, it is now official.” I ruminated.
The priest requested that I pronounce my vows first which I did with enthusiasm. Smiling childishly as each word escaped my lips.
Then something happened!
It was Tyler's time to say his vows. He opened his mouth as if to repeat the words of the priest. “I… I am sorry everyone. I can't do this. I know it's crazy but I can't do this…”
He reached for my hands, and looked into my eyes, tears flowing freely down his cheeks. “I love you so much, Lilly, but I can't do this. I'm sorry,” and with that, fast as lightning, he stormed out of the church.
