KOGI GUBER:
Former House of Representatives Member Defects from APC to SDP
In a surprising political move, Hon. Isah Wambai, a prominent former House of Representatives Member representing Lokoja/Koton, has officially left the ranks of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi. This strategic shift has sent shockwaves through the state's political landscape, significantly impacting the APC's leadership in the region.
Wambai's departure was not a solitary decision; he brought with him a devoted following of supporters who shared his convictions. The group has now thrown its weight behind Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka who is contesting in the Kogi November 11th election, alongside his running mate, Chief Sam Abenemi under the banner of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
In a statement following his defection, Wambai articulated his commitment to collaborating with others to address what he perceives as inadequate leadership in Kogi. He drew a sharp contrast between Governor Bello's aggressive election tactics and Hon. Ajaka's more inclusive approach. Wambai believes that this distinction is a crucial factor motivating his alignment with the SDP candidate.
Highlighting his concern for the state's well-being, Wambai emphasized the urgent need to counteract the pervasive influence of corruption in the state's administration. By joining forces with Hon. Ajaka and the SDP, Wambai aims to contribute to a collective effort aimed at steering Kogi away from the clutches of mismanagement and graft.
As the Kogi November 11th election draws closer, the political landscape remains fluid and full of anticipation. Wambai's move underscores the complex interplay of ideologies and aspirations within the region, setting the stage for a dynamic and closely watched electoral contest.
