'Abdullah bin Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "He who has, in his heart, an ant's weight of arrogance will not enter Jannah." Someone said: "A man likes to wear beautiful clothes and shoes?" Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Allah is Beautiful, He loves beauty. Arrogance means ridiculing and rejecting the Truth and despising people."

The gift of water saves lives, which is a hugely rewardable action. Allah says in the Qur’an, ‘And whoever saves one [a life] - it is as if he had saved all of mankind’. (Qur’an, 5:32) Imagine this - every single time the clean water you donated saves someone’s life, it is as if you have saved all of mankind!

‘The Messenger of Allah (saw) was asked, “Which charity is best?” He replied, “[Providing] water”’. [Abu Dawud]

We use water for everything, from washing dishes to cooking food to growing crops. Allah says in the Qur’an, ‘By means of water, we give life to everything’. (Qur’an, 21:30). Having access to safe water is a basic human right and fulfilling this right is an excellent Sadaqah.

Allah’s Messenger (saw) said, ‘A pr******te was forgiven by Allah, because, passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover she drew out some water for it. So, Allah forgave her because of that’. [Bukhari]

This hadith shows that even giving water to an animal is immensely beneficial. When you build a well, it not only benefits a deprived community, it also benefits their livestock, and every time anyone drinks from that well, Allah may forgive your sins.

أهدِ أحبابك الذين رحلوا من دنيانا إلى رحمة الله أجمل هديةٍ قد يتلقونها في قبورهم.
الماء مصدرٌ لكل حيّ، به ينمو الإنسان، وبه ينبت الشجر والخضر، وبه تحيا الدواب. وبالرغم من ذلك وبناءً على الاحصائيات الدولية، فإن واحداً من كل 10 أفراد يواجه العطش الحاد ولا يتوفر له مصدر آمن للمياه.،ليس واحداً وليس مئة بل ما يقارب ال785 مليون إنسان غالبيتهم من النساء والأطفال. لا يجدون ما يسد لهث العطش، أو يزرع لهم غذائهم أو يكفي احتياجات مواشيهم او يعينهم على قضاء حاجات يومهم. عطشى حول العالم ينتظرون منا شربة ترويهم وتسقيهم، ليس الماء، بل تسقيهم الحياة.

The immense reward of fasting six days of Shawwal is explained in a hadith narrated by Abu Ayyub, “Whoever fasts the months of Ramadan and then follows it with six days of fasting in the month of Shawwal, it will be as if he has fasted the year through.” (Sahih Muslim).

The six days of Shawwal are recommended as a means of redeeming any shortcomings in the quality of our fasts in the month of Ramadan and are equivalent to a year of fasting if accepted by Allah (SWT).
