Did you know many government school students in Nigeria miss out on excursions?

After listening to a live talk about promoting Kwara State and its tourism potential by Akeem Olamilekan Deen, I was inspired by a point mentioned by Muideen Olayinka Yusuf, who also participated in the discussion. He suggested that excursions should be made compulsory in government schools.

Their conversation sparked the idea for my upcoming piece, where I’ll explore why this is such an important issue and how it could benefit students across Nigeria.

In 2019, I joined a dedicated team of volunteers to visit a slum in Oworonshoki, Lagos, as part of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative. During our visit, a female volunteer from abroad captured the children's attention. Their excitement was infectious as they sang and affectionately called her "Oyinbo," a term used by Nigerians for foreigners. This heartwarming moment showcased the joy and curiosity in these young hearts, reminding us of the profound power of connection and kindness, regardless of background. #Oworonshoki #Volunteering #LagosFoodBank #Community #SeyiExplore
