Entered a Bolt last night and the price of the ride to my destination was N3,200
When the driver came to pick me up, I entered and greeted the driver. He told me he was starting the ride and I said no problem.
3 minutes into the ride, he started to murmur and complain. He said he didn't know it was a card ride and that he would have preferred cash. I told him that I thought it'd usually show if a trip was card or cash, and asked why he had accepted a card ride. He said he hadn't seen it then.
He asked how much the trip was and I told him N3,200.
A minute later, he said he needed to buy fuel. I said no problem. It was night, I wasn't going to argue with a Bolt driver on a trip that had already started. He branched into a fuel station, complained that they were selling at N670 per litre and decided he wasn't going to buy anymore.
I wondered if he was trying to extend my trip and maybe increase my ride fee. I didn't say anything.
He drove out of the fuel station and we continued to my destination. Another minute later, he apologized and said he needed to put fuel in his tank. I didn't respond.
He cleared to the side of the road, switched of his engine. Got out of the car and went to the trunk. I was watching him from the rear and his side mirrors. He brought out a can that seemed too light to be containing fuel. Made a grand gesture of opening his tank and pouring it in without the use of any funnel or hose. Then he put the can back in the trunk, closed it, closed his fuel tank and entered back into the car. There was no smell of petrol.
He started the car and continued on the trip in silence.
He driver so slowly that a child learning to ride a bicycle could have overtaken us.
Thankfully, there were no more stops until I got to my destination.
When I got to my destination, he started to reverse so he could go back the direction we came. I took out my phone to rate him, when I realized that he hadn't ended the trip. I immediately walked up to him and asked him if he had ended the trip, and he said yes.
There were two men standing in front of the gate, and I knew them. It gave me some courage.
I politely asked him to show me that he had ended it.
He was reluctant but when he did show me, it showed that he hadn't ended the trip.
"Oh!" He said, "I thought I ended it."
"Please end my trip, Sir." I told him.
He did.
The price came up...
N3,200... still.
