Dear Esteemed Customers,
This is to inform you that due to a global software update that will affect the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC). All prepaid meters will stop accepting old tokens unless they are upgraded.
As a proactive measure, upgrades will begin on August 1, 2023, therefore all previously purchased electricity tokens must be loaded before then. Any token not loaded before that day will be rejected by the prepaid meter.
Kindly inform your customers that from August 1, 2023, they will receive two Key Change Tokens (KCT1 & KCT2) in addition to their normal energy tokens when they purchase electricity tokens from you. These KCTs will be used to upgrade their prepaid meters.
Please encourage your customers to upgrade their meters as soon as possible to avoid having any issues.
Below are the steps to upgrade the prepaid meters:
You will receive 3 tokens when you buy a token from August 1, 2023. The first 2 are the key change tokens and the 3rd (last) is your purchased electricity token.
Enter the key change tokens: On your meter, enter the two KCTs (KCT1 & KCT2) one after the other, then the 3rd token, which is your electricity token.
Your meter upgrade is now complete!
