What is happening in Ekpoma, Edo State, is deeply troubling and unacceptable. Reports of attacks on Northerners, including the invasion of the Ekpoma livestock market where cattle and goats were stolen, money taken, and people brutally beaten—now lying in hospitals with serious injuries—should concern every responsible Nigerian.
This is no longer a minor issue. The Edo State Government and security agencies must act decisively and immediately before this escalates into a full-blown ethnic conflict.
Northerners are Nigerians like everyone else and deserve safety, dignity, and freedom of movement anywhere in this country. The growing harassment and hatred are dangerous and unjust.
