MY EARLY MORNING LESSON
TOPIC: LIFE IS NOT ABOUT THE GOOD THINGS, IT IS ABOUT THE WILL OF GOD...
We are often tempted to believe that we are defined by the abundance of good things in our lives. We want comfort, wealth, breakthrough after breakthrough; we want achievements, accolades, success and promotions and when they are not there, we turn against God and declare him our bitter enemy. Our world measures how great we are bu how much we possess, the power we control and how smooth and problem-free our lives appear to be. For many, if God's blessings are not materialistic in nature, then such blessings are not realistic. For me, life is not just about the good things, instead life is more about the will of God being done in my life. If His will gives me a G Wagon, a mansion and comfort, then I must praise God. But if I find myself, like the Psalmist, in the valley of death, sickness, pain, regrets, poverty and sorrows, I just also follow Him because His will supplies His grace. The will of God is not always aligned with what we consider "good" or "pleasant," but it is always perfect, holy, and life-giving. Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane understood that the path to redemption was not through avoiding suffering but through submitting to the will of the Father. It wasn’t about what was easy or comfortable; it was about fulfilling God’s purpose. Sometimes, God’s will will lead us through valleys of trials, deserts of waiting, or storms of uncertainty. But let me assure you, His will is never to harm you but to prosper you, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
Look at Abraham, who was asked to leave everything familiar and journey to an unknown land. He didn’t chase comfort or wealth; he pursued God’s will, and through his obedience, he became the father of many nations. Think of mother Mary, who said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word" (Luke 1:38). She embraced God’s will.
