As I went about my daily tasks as an intern the other day, I found myself singing a song with the lyrics that say, "There's power in the name of Jesus, there's healing in the name of Jesus," then my trainer interrupted me with an unexpected question.
"Are you sure about those words you're singing?" he asked.
I took a quick pause, trying to understand what he meant.
"What do you mean, Sir?" I replied.
"Are you sure that there's power in Jesus' name?" He asked again.
Without hesitation, I responded, "Yes, I'm 100% sure, Sir"
I still couldn't understand the reason he asked this question because, I can certainly tell he isn't an atheist.
But then he added, "You know, some people say things just for the sake of it, without really being sure and convinced in what they believe"
Kai!
I thought about what he said for a minute and I began to see the truth in it.
It's one thing to claim to believe in something, but it's another thing entirely to have a conviction in that belief.
It can be easy to say we believe in something, but much harder to live out those beliefs in our daily lives.
Be sincere in what/who you believe in.
Check your hearts and make sure that your words align with your inner truths.
Don't just say you believe in Jesus Christ by just words of mouth, does your actions, and interactions with others stand as a testament to the depth of your faith?
Don't just say you believe you're going to be successful and make an impact in your world, what steps are you taking to turn those beliefs into reality?
So, let's not just say things for the sake of saying them; let's believe with our whole being so that belief wouldn't be questioned.
Shalom.
Hope you got the message?
