PRECONCEPTION PLANNING TIPS

As a rule of thumb, you do not have to wait for that long. Not that you are going in for fertility treatment or so. You are only intentional parents planning for the future of your family. This is called PLANNED PARENTHOOD.

As a couple planning for either their first, third or even sixth baby, you have an important need for you to get your body and mind ready for that little bundle of joy that will occupy your world in no distant time. So, take these very important steps to help you get ready for the healthiest pregnancy and baby possible.

STEP #1: PLAN, PLAN AND TAKE ACTION

As adults, whether as a married couple or domestic partners, you have sat down one day to think about your pregnancy and child bearing needs and goals. You may have desired only one child for the first few years of your relationship. Before now, you may not have had a desire for a biological baby. So, you might have opted for suitable birth controls methods. Now,that you have finally decided to grow a little one inside you, it is time to make those plans on what you desire, clearly mapping out ways to achieve such goals.

Although pregnancy decisions should be made by both partners, the bulk decision rests on the woman that will carry the baby since it's her body that gets affected most. However, you should allow your partner feel present by taking his hand of love as you navigate this long nine months journey.

These plans could mean making some lifestyle changes some months before conception, sorting out your finances and putting some checks on your health and weight.

To be continued...

PRECONCEPTION PLANNING TIPS

Hello, I trust you had a great day. Today, we shall be looking at this rarely talked about issue among couples planning to achieve a healthy pregnancy.

To get the facts straight, getting pregnant may appear easy for a lot of people but know that it can lead to a whole lot of stress with couples who are having some challenges. Many couples do not actually conceive at their first try. For some, it may take an average of 6 months to get that positive on a HPT or blood work at the doctor's office. For a lot of people like us, it may take up to 1 year or even more to get that red mark talk more of carrying a healthy baby to term.

Medically, provided there is no pre-existing health or medical condition with you or your partner, every healthy couple has a 25% chances of getting pregnant in a month. Remember that optimum conception is only possible, all things being equal, within your fertile window.

Every woman has a unique cycle and a fertile window that may not be textbook. This fertile window is the 5 days before and after ovulation (more on this).

So with the above assertions, if you are trying for a baby or just thinking about it, especially when you have a history of secondary infertility with no underlying cause, it is never too late to start prepping your body for pregnancy.

Preconception planning is hardly discussed especially in Nigeria little wonder there are lots of unplanned pregnancies, avoidable pregnancy and delivery complications.

Pre-pregnancy planning bothers on your health and health care. It focuses on what you can do before or between pregnancies to increase your chances of having a healthy baby.

For many couples,it can take only a few months to prep their bodies. For others, you may need to adopt lifestyle changes over a period of years for a positive result.

This time discrepancies does not necessarily mean that there is something wrong with you and your partner. The medical advice is that you should seek help if you have been trying for 6 months to 1 year (more on this) without success.

The Diary of a Nursing Mother

Episode 1

You wake as early as 7 a.m to do your usual chores on a Saturday morning: loads of laundry to be done, plates in the sink and 3 cute handful kids to be fed and taken care of. Your husband suggests you prepare beans for lunch. He gives you 3000 naira to get things for soup as he hands over the meat he buys from Baba Aishat. He will be back by 4 pm.

You bring out the laundry basket after breastfeeding 6 month old baby Chioma. She struggles to sleep due to the noise from 6 year old Emeka and his 4 year old sister, Adaeze. You are tired of shouting at the older kids so you just ignore them since you have a lot of chores waiting for you.

After much patting at the back, baby finally sleeps. You feel like napping with the baby as you lie with her. Emeka calls out to you, "Moommyyy, it seems the food on fire is burning. Should I help you check it out?" He asks and you wave him away so he doesn't wake baby from her nap.

Tiredly, you push yourself quietly from the bed and tiptoe out of the room to avoid waking Chioma.

It is already 8.30 am. You return the almost burnt beans on fire after washing it. Emeka and Adaeze by now are seating like alter servants who are waiting on the priest during a mass. They are scared of the punishment they will get if they make a single sound from their mouth as you warn them.

You sit down to wash the clothes first. Two minutes later, Adaeze tells you that Emeka is "eyeing" her. You look at Emeka sternly. He understands the language immediately and springs to his feet as his chair tumbles with a heavy sound.

Kpokpokporrororookr!

The chair goes, but it is too late.

Ngraaah! Ngraaaaah! Ngraaaaaaaaah!

Adaeze peers into the room as baby Chioma attempts crawling down the king-sized family bed.

"Maaammmyyy, Chioma will fall off the bed oooh ghen ghen".

You dash in quickly in time to catch her from falling. She starts crying and demands for breastmilk. You look tired and sleepy already.

"When will I ever rest in this house, self?"

"Ngraaah ! Ngraaaaah! Ngraaaaaaaaah!"

"Ngraaah ! Ngraaaaah! Ngraaaaaaaaah!"

"Chioma, zukwanike! Aaaaaagh, o ginidi?"

"It's okay, baby stop crying", you console visibly exhausted, but she is not giving in.

"Okay, just a 5 minute session. Oyah suck, suck. Stop crying!"

"You know your siblings have not eaten and I still need to bathe them".
"Okay , it's okay"

Baby accepts to finally latch on the breast.

Clothes lying outside and plates unwashed.

you get into bed, put your breast in her mouth as both of you sleep off.

Emeka and Adaeze are happy. They dash off to David's house to play. They have neither bathe nor eaten.

Everywhere becomes silent at last.

Only the smell of cooking beans on fire.

Kokorokooo! Kokorokooooooo!

2 pm.

As public figures, especially those in religious and political circles, try as much as possible to promote peaceful coexistence and unity in cultural cm religious diversity.

Say no to divisive statements that could mar the peace in the society. As a matter of urgency, we should learn to understand that humanity comes first before any affiliations you may have with any group.

Whatever does not align with the promotion of peace, understanding and tolerance among the people should be stopped.

Below is a statement I made in response to Sir Reno's Nugget today bordering on Yorubas' cultural advantage over OTHER TRIBES.

👇👇👇
You may have stated some truth, but that could have been done without fueling an already burning bush, Sir. As much as I would like to partly agree with you that the aforementioned tribe SHOWS respect in words and sometimes actions, I would also want you to realize that showing RESPECT comes in different forms. A given society defines what respect means to her.

The Yorubas and their OWN form of showing respect is unique to them and as such, shouldn't be a yardstick for measuring other tribes' culture.

All over the world, different cultures exist which are peculiar and unique in nature.

Do not forget that CULTURE is a people's way of life, so you don't expect THE OTHER TRIBES you had mentioned to be like them!

For record sake, it is high time influential people like you learnt how to abolish PROPAGANDA in public posts. It does no good. It is divisive.

You could have PASSED your message or taken sides with your beloved tribe without throwing shades knowing fully well that the OTHER TRIBES would react.

Though you may not have mentioned the particular OTHER TRIBES, you know very well that there has never been a time you failed to shove this so-called respect down the OTHER TRIBES' throat. That shouldn't have come from a pastor for God's sake!

Remember, every tribe has a trademark which paves way for her people.

Public figures should promote peaceful coexistence and unity in cultural diversity.

Celebrate the ones you wish to and quit throwing shades, Sir!

God bless you and have a wonderful new year experience. ❤️

I don't even understand what nigerian feminism is all about.

I knew way back in JS1 or so, even before I came across the word FEMINISM after reading from BUCHI EMECHETA that I am a feminist, yet I hold a wide different view from most in this clime.

As a feminist, we don't discourage women from getting married. Every woman deserves happiness and is entitled to one as long as she is not reminded of her abilities and inabilities due to the tag VVOMAN...

YES, biologically, vvomen are at a better advantage when they marry earlier, especially before their late 30s.
Probably because the society has defined marriage as a union for procreation ( This was not so from the genesis. Marriage is first for companionship before procreation. Children are the GIFTS of marriages.)

So, the time a VVOMAN gets married shouldn't have been determined if we truly had followed the main reason for marriage.

However, every VVOMAN should be allowed to decide HER OWN time or reason for marriage.

Well, it is easier said than done as we don't initiate marriages in this clime. Even in more developed worlds, more than 80% of the time, MÉN'S availability and readiness are also deciding factors for when WE get TAKEN.

This has made a lot of vvomen vulnerable and take poor regrettable decisions into a life-long union called marriage.

I think as mothers, especially because we are in a better position to advise our kids, most times being experienced, from their tender age, we need to give our boys and girls a better orientation about marriage, different from the advice being put in place by our forefathers which may have worked for them then.

Remember that vvomen didn't need to attain education, fame or pursue any career then. Our vvomen then were majorly groomed for marriage and procreation and it might be right then.

We are in a different time and age. Revolutions and technological advancements have made these true.

There should be a total overhauling of our society so that the modern generation will not faíl.

Our views and values are changing to suit the humans of this age and time and it is rightly so.

Change is said to be constant.

Some of our laws should be abólished. Vvomen should be given right to owe property. Society should stop using marriage as a measure for a vvoman's success.

Yes, marriage is good if it favours one. But, just like child bearing is not a do or díe affair, marriage should not be!!!

To some, it is a worthy achievement since it is what they desired and got.

For many, it comes like a cage. It steals their self-worth and subdues them into captivity.

To those, it is NEVER an achievement.

To whichever group you belong, try as much as possible to define it early enough so you take the best decision.

If you are team marriage, put all your being into getting it right as it is not a walk in the park.

Marry intentionally.

Choose the RIGHT man for you at the right time, especially if you desire kids. At least before your late 30s.

If all you want from marriage is 90% companionship, marry whose philosophy binds with yours and be open to whatever comes should kids not surface. Remember, you chose that at the beginning?

If singleness is what you have chosen for yourself, fine. After all, it is a GIFT.

DEFINE that also early so loved ones around you would know.

As early as possible, work towards self sustenance in the future. Be open to what the future holds and know that you may likely need to save for your future care. Invest in yourself so well that people would see that you made a worthy choice.

To each her own.

All are worthwhile.

Remember, all that matters is that none, at the end will make one less or more a wóman!!🤗

Same people praising koko are here saying this is correct yhen then yhen bula blu blu. One day they are clapping them núde dancers, another day dem are condemning bobris and afrikaw!!! This my génder self.

I have said it and will keep on screaming it: every adult should be responsible for the little kids in the society!!! We owe them loads of good and moral behaviour.

What are we even doing self?

Letting kids dress imm.orally all in the name of being woke. In the streets, you would see bréasts jumping out of tops as if they want to slap you. Boxers and tights( underwear) that should be an inner wear is now worn out. One I saw one day, with that bicker short, str.etch marks everywhere, b.elly with flaps and discoloured Diva ati Bio claire skín displayed in a SHOW BELLE top!!!!

Mtcheeeew. You can be beautiful without revealing too much. Some of these wómen have made men see the only worth we have is our nyash and bwest!!!!

The only thing wómen bwest and nyash were made for is coit*s, procreation and breastfeeding. Any other thing na bagadash!!!

Yes, I don't have extra large ones that's why I am envíous of them nyen nyen nyen!!

What els.e are they used for?

I can sit down with my flat tyres, eeeh? 🙄
I don born fine fain shildren💃💃
It breastfed them like dat!!!!!

Wetin self for all these people?

Some guys go wear nicker still dey drag am with one hand. Come Oshodi come see nde umu boys!!!!

Lots of them creating nuisances in the society due to bàd societal and parental influence.

We must strive to be intentional adults, whether you are a parent or not.

We all owe these to the next generation because if we don't, with these my hawk eyes we I take dey look those shildren wey I dey see for Oshodi under bridge, e go choke oooh.
Please don't WAIST your time crying here if you are pro-boobyriski ati koral bead because e nwerem thick skin!!! 😁

I can't even watch her videos. The first and only time I did, I just watched due to curiosity as a result of the hypes. Though I am not trying to bo.dy shame her, I was amiss when one of her fans screamed at her HÓT body after having kids. She literally attached another who had said there was nothing strange or new about her shape. It's not out of place for her to have trim shape.

Mehn, it's just because many of us are really DECÉNT women who can't summon up courage to éxpose too much skín to show them say no be only them get shape. Me wey don born 3 and in my 30s with flat, six pack belly nko?🙄🙄🙄...Waist 27 and we no dey make nóise!!!

But mehn, I have seen countless lo.w key wómén with killer bodies at even much older age.

Yes, it's not easy to be trim and fit after kids but, most times, it's genetics like mine. We hardly do any special things to keep us fit ( me for example).

She can dance and grind for all I care but she could cover up doing that!!!! She owes her kids and ours that!!!!

Governments should get up and do their jobs of protecting morality!!!

What in the name of nyash shaking and núdity display is that self...

No be say her under clean or shine self🙄🙄🙄.

No body should do fiam here as I dey para!!😏

Don't say I am envíous oooh...Taaa, her belly get flabs self. Na today? Wetin self!!!

The húsband was right to have called off. Which kind màn would keep such.

I pity her daúghers shaaa. The shàming and búllying they would gét as they grów up.

Do they ever think of the future? That body could be put to a better use!!!😏😏😏

Some will say it's her body, but know that she owns it up to us to be decent as our kíds could see her as role models.

Modesty is not júst about you but members of the society. Fine, she's a strippér but she should do that in the clubs where only adults of her kind are. It shouldn't be shoved in our faces!!!!

Cry! Cry! Cry!

Trúth pills are hard to swallów.
Bring it ón. I am slim but my skín is thick¡😁
