Where did most of Ndi Igbo get taken to during the transatlantic slave trade?

Well between 1526-1851, roughly 1,072,192 people were trafficked from the bight of biafra (according to slavevoyages. org) While ethnic groups who left this region consisted of the ibibio, ijaw, tiv & even people from the cameroon grassfields, most of the captives from this region were igbo.

There are pieces of igbo culture, identity & history now scattered across the americas & even sierra leone & liberia, so its important to know this history. The full picture of igboland cannot be completed without those many who were stripped from ala igbo & taken away.

These were the top 5 destinations of Ndi Igbo & the aproximate number of captives taken to these places (From 1526-1851)

#1 jamaica 🇯🇲 ~268,633 people

#2 brazil 🇧🇷 ~110,779 people

#3 barbados 🇧🇧 ~80,070 people

#4 cuba 🇨🇺 ~77,720 people

#5 dominica 🇩🇲 ~66,253 people

The picture below is a visual of captives from the bight of biafra but the time frame is 1601-1800. Its still gives an idea of the places Ndi Igbo went during the duration of the slave trade. ~76% of Ndi Igbo landed in the caribbean.

Ekwensu Is Not The Devil, Satan Or Lucifer – Ndi Igbo Were Lied To By The Christian Missionaries:

Ekwensu is an Alusi/god of war and bargains. He fights chaotic spirits. Ekwensu is an Igbo God/Deity, who is often invoked during difficulties in business, and at times of war. Ekwensu in Ìgbò spirituality is what you would call a ‘covenant keeper’, and an obedient servant, who only acts when called upon.

Growing up as an Igbo child, I regularly encountered the use of the word Ekwensu when my parents or Parish priest talked about heaven and hell. They referred to the devil as Ekwensu, and that he was evil and dwelt in hell. When bad things happen, it was blamed on Ekwensu. I witnessed adults call people who were wicked "Ekwensu". It was the go-to word for anyone who was exhibiting one form of evilness or the other.

I would continue to hear this word, and over time it became true for me. I didn't bother to question it, because my parents, priests, and society, in general, used the term Ekwensu to refer to the devil. It was only many years after I finished university, was now an adult, and started learning about Ọdịnala Igbo and certain aspects of our culture, did I find out that Ekwensu was not the Devil.

Over the years, in my attempt to fully understand who we really, are and the spiritual importance of the deities our ancestors communed with, in their practice of Ọdịnala (as a superior form of spirituality for Ndi Igbo), I have spoken to various Dibịas and enlightened elders, and I have found out that truly, Ekwensu is not the devil of Christianity, but one of the strongest forces in Ìgbò cosmology.

Let us go further into this rather controversial yet important topic, to better understand how much we have been deceived as a people.

If you don’t discover your path or talents, nobody would discover you. If you don’t wake up and be practical about how to succeed with your talents, you will fail and blame someone else for not showing you. The world is competitive. It’s a rat race!

PHOTOS: Surgeons Remove Live Gr***de From Russian Soldier's Chest

A team of Russian surgeons successfully removed a live gr***de stuck in a soldier's body.

The soldier, Nikolay Pasenko, had been turned into a ‘human bomb’ after been hit by a gr***de which smashed through his rib cage, stayed trapped inside him but failed to detonate while fighting in Ukraine.

According to Daily Mail UK, the medical team wore body armour, because they knew the gr***de could detonate during the surgery with devastating effects at such close quarters.

Pasenko initially resisted surgery saying, “He did not want the doctors to suffer as the munitions could have exploded.”

"The ammunition was located between the aorta and the inferior vena cava, It's not every day that you take an [explosive] out of a person, and in a place where moving to the right or left can lead to the death of the patient. When the ammunition ended up in a bucket of sand, everyone exhaled, smiled and laughed," one of the surgeon was reported to have said.

Speaking after the surgery, Pasenko said, “I did not understand what happened. There was a blow to the edge of the armour and that was it. I did not lose consciousness - I just continued to move.”

Pasenko, who is a junior sergeant, was hit by a Ukranian projectile fired from an automatic gr***de launcher.

Russia's Defence Ministry confirmed the incident on Thursday.
