DANGOTE WITHDRAWS 100 BILLION LAW SUIT AGAINST NNPCL AND OTHERS: The Truth You Need to Know

The Dangote Group has withdrawn a suit seeking the award of N100 billion in damages against the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) for allegedly proceeding to issue import licenses to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) and other companies.

The Group’s Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, said the company would withdraw the matter by the adjourned date in January.

He said the matter was an old issue that started in June and culminated in a matter being filed in September 6.

“Currently, the parties are in discussion since the President Bola Tinubu’s directive on crude oil and refined products sales in naira initiative, which was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC),” he said.

“We have made tremendous progress in that regard and events have overtaken this development.

“No party has been served with court processes and there is no intention of doing so. We have agreed to put a halt to the proceedings.

“It is important to stress that no orders have been made and there are no adverse effects on any party. We understand that once the matter comes up January 2025, we would be ina position to formally withdraw the matter in court.”

It would be recalled that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE had asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to void all licenses recently issued for the importation of petroleum products into the country.

Dangote Petroleum sought the award of N100 billion in damages against NMDPRA for allegedly proceeding to issue import licenses to the NNPCL and Matrix Petroleum Services Limited (Matrix) for the importation of petroleum products such as Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and Jet-A1Fuel (aviation turbine fuel) into the country despite its production of these products and which he said was in breach of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has a popular crossdresser, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, also known as Bobrisky in custody, following an attempt to flee the country.

This was contained in a statement released by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on its official X handle, saying: “In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme border over an attempt to Exit the Country.

Note, that the controversial crossdresser has been in the news following a video leaked by an Activist, Martins Otse (VeryDarkMan).

PDP GOVERNORS ADVOCATE FOR CONSENSUS NATIONAL CHAIRMAN FROM NORTH-CENTRAL ZONE: Attention May be on David Mark

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors have agreed to settle for a consensus national chairman from the North Central zone. Top contenders for the position include Gabriel Suswam, Emmanuel Agbo, and Conrad Utaan.

The decision comes as the party faces internal crisis, with pressure mounting to hold a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. Former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu expressed confidence in the party’s ability to overcome its current challenges and emerge stronger.

A party source revealed that subtle campaigns for replacing acting national chairman Amb Iliya Damagum have begun with attention been paid on David Mark to provide elderly leadership and put the crisis to a stop. The source expects a clearer picture to emerge by Tuesday or Wednesday.

THE TRUTH OR FALSEHOOD: TCN Plans to End Incessant National Grid Collapse

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has hoped to implement a backup system to prevent nationwide blackouts in the event of a national grid collapse.

TCN’s Managing Director, Sule Abdulaziz, revealed this during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics program.

He attributed the recurrent grid failures to the outdated infrastructure, some of which has been in place for over 50 years.

Abdulaziz said, “Presently, we are doing the scatter system for the whole network and it is funded by the World Bank, and the project will take two years to be completed, and now, we have done 70% of the project.

“Almost a month ago, we were at Gwagwalada (in Abuja) with the World Bank where we celebrated the project. It is 70 percent completed. Once we have the scatter system, it will reduce the frequency of getting system disturbances.”

“We are trying to upgrade all our transmission lines,” he said, adding that though the government might not have enough money for the project, the TCN has been working in partnership with private companies to mobilise funds.

It will be recalled that despite the recent tariff increases, the power system in the country have continued to fail, frustrating local manufacturing companies and users even in the regime of outrageous pump prices

BREAKING: Tribunal Sacks Kano Gov Yusuf, Declares Gawuna Winner

The Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has ordered the withdrawal of certificate of return issued to Govenor Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and directed that the certificate be issued to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the March 18 election, Dr. Nasir Gawuna.

The Tribunal gave the order in its judgement on the disputed Kano State governorship election Wednesday afternoon.

Amada Ka Alago Magazine reports that the Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal had commenced delivering its judgment via zoom on Wednesday at the Miller Road Kano State High Court complex.
