POLICE IN ZAMFARA
ARREST TWO SUSPECTS FOR EXTORTING COMMUNITY (N5,000,000)

The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested one Lawali Musa 'M' 36 year Old of Jangebe village in Talata Mafara and Jamilu Isah 'M' 40 year Old of Yar dole area in Gusau LGAs respectively.

In a statement sign bythe Command Spoke person SP Aminu said the arrest of the two suspects was made following a complain received from members of Yar Katsina community in Bungudu LGA against the principal suspect Lawali Musa, who deceitfully extorted the community. In the course of investigation, the Principal suspect confessed to have collected the sum of five million naira (N5, 000,000) from the community in the name of assisting them to have security agencies deployed to their community.

The statement also said the second suspect Jamilu Isah confessed that, the sum of eight hundred thousand naira was deposited into his account.

He said investigation is in progress with a view to arresting other suspects in connection with the offence, and will be charged to court , thereafter, to face full wrath of the law, so that it will serve as deterrence to others.

The Command uses this medium to reiterate that, deployment of security operatives to villages and communities is purely free of charge, and calls on all and sundry not to allow any person or group of person to decieve them in the name of securing deployment of security operatives to their areas. Instead, they should reach out to the Police or any relevant authority regarding the general security of their areas. Such person (s) should also be reported to the Police or any security agency for appropriate action.

GOV MATAWALLE EMPOWERS COMMUNITY PROTECTION GUARDS (CPG), CALLS FOR CONCERTED EFFORTS AGAINST BANDITRY

Governor Bello Mohammed (Matawallen Maradun, has provided the newly launched Community Protection Guards (CPG) with 1,500 specially equipped motorcycles and 20 specially treated vans, all equipped with lawfully allowed weapons for their take-off.

He made this revelation during a state-wide broadcast at the Government House this morning. He said the state Government will continue to improve on the newly established Community Protection Guards in order to have sufficient and efficient complement to the law enforcement agents working in the state.

Governor Matawalle noted the relative peace recorded in some of the Local Government areas in the state and announced that an emergency number (112) has now been provided for citizens in the state to call on emergency situations any time free of charge.

In response to increasing criminal activities of bandits gradually crawling in to the outskirts of Gusau City, Governor Matawalle announced the banning of riding of motorcycles in these areas from 8pm to 6am. He ordered security operatives to shoot at defaulters of the directive who refuse to stop or avoid arrest.

Another measure announced is a directive to all hotels in the state to seek proper identfication of their customers with any valid card such as National ID card, driver's licence, voters card etc. Any defaulting hotel in the state will be severely penalised. This is in line with an executive order recently signed by the Governor.

Governor Matawalle called on the people to remain vigilant and report activities of informants whom he said are so far, being arrested in numbers. He said the Government has recently ordered for the census of all house holds in the state to fish out the bad eggs who reside among the people with sole intent to perpetrate criminality by aiding the activities of bandits

KEBBI STATE GOVT APPOINT NEW DISTRICT HEADS

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state has approved the appointment of twelve (12) District Heads.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Umar Yeldu says, those appointed are; Mustapha Usman Adamu as the District Head of Ka’oje (Sarkin Bargun Ka’oje), Bagudo Local Government, Alh. Musa Usman Bashar as the District Head of Makera (Marafan Makera), Birnin Kebbi Local Government, Alh. Haruna Iliyasu Bashar Chikasoro as the District Head of Raha (Magajin Raha), Bunza Local Government, Alhaji Aliyu Badaji Kwakkwaba as the District Head of Kwakkwaba, Dandi Local Government and Abubakar Sa’idu Y. Abarshi as the District Head of Yelwa (Ubandoman Yauri), Yauri Local Government.

SENATE PASS BILL ON PEACE CORP:

The Commandant General of Nigeria Peace Corps,
Dr. Mustafa Mohammed Abubakar has
commended the upper legislative Chamber for
passing his version of Nigeria Peace Corps into
law.
Reacting after the Senate passed the controversial
bill which Prof.
Dickson Akor has earlier spoke to the Press that
Senate passed “Peace Corps of Nigeria” into law
which he claimed was his version, Dr Abubakar in
a dramatic turn said the bill was not the fresh
one, but the previous one which was declined
assent by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Insisting that his version was passed, he said: “In
regards to what transpired at the National
Assembly on Tuesday, I want to appreciate the
members and the leadership of National
Assembly and also all that made it possible for
the passage of the Nigeria Peace Corps Bill at the
National Assembly.
“In order to educate the masses of what
transpires on Tuesday, it is not a new bill that
was passed.
“Recall that Mr. President refused assent on this
bill after the bill was passed by Eight assembly,
raising some point, it is those points that were
corrected now and successfully passed by the 9th
Assembly.”
Dr Abubakar pointed out that it was the
corrections which President Buhari spotted that
were effected and passed.
So what is not a new establishment bills, it is the
corrections of what Mr. President have seen that it
will affect the organization in the future that he
requested for correction.
“The correction was the short tittle and the long
tittle of the bill and the interpretation of all title
and the recommendation of all the memorandum,
was what happened.
Speaking further, he.said: “National Unity and
Peace Corps which is led by Mr. Chinedu Nneji
forwarded by Humfrey Egbunam and Peace Corps
of Nigeria led by Dickson Akoh and by the
wisdom of National Assembly, the two
establishment have similar objectives and that is
why they collapse the two entity into one which is
Nigeria Peace Corps at the 8th Assembly.
