Today, 21st January 2025. The Kano State Scholarship Board enters its second day of screening for the Foreign and Domestic Scholarship program, a flagship initiative introduced by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Ibrahim Ma'aji Sumaila, Senior Special Assistant to the governor of Kano State on Student Matters, is part of the team conducting the screening process for applicants at the Board.

Today, January 8th, 2025, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the governor of Kano State on Student Matters received delegations from the National Association of Kano State Students (NAKSS) Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Studies (KASCEP) Chapter and NAKSS University of Transportation Daura Chapter in his office.

The visitation was aimed at introducing themselves and their union, as well as seeking advice on how to effectively manage their association. The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Hon. Ibrahim Ma’aji Sumaila provided them with guidance and shared some of the Kano State government's plans for the students of kano state this year.

We are thrilled to share with Kano State students that Comrade Nura Iro Ma'aji has been promoted from Special Adviser to the Governor on Students' Matters to Commissioner Ministry Of Public Procurement and Project Monitoring and Evaluation. Congratulations to him on this new role!

This change was made by H.E Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf, Governor Of Kano State and the swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday, 6th January 2025.

Additionally, I'd like to welcome Nafi'u Yusuf Oyoyo as the newly appointed Special Adviser on Students' Matters. We look forward to working with him!

Babban mai taimaka wa Gwamnan jihar Kano, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf a kan harkokin ɗalibai, Hon. Ibrahim Ma’aji Sumaila, ya bayyana cewa harkokin cigaban ilimi a jihar Kano kwalliya tana biyan kuɗin sabulu a ƙasa da shekaru biyu da zuwan gwamnatinsu.

Ya bayyana haka ne da yake zantawa da ‘yan jarida a yayin ƙaddamar da tallafin kaya ga ‘yan makaranta karo na biyu da mai taimaka wa Gwamna a kan ɗalibai mata, Hon. Hafsat Amin Adhama ta gudanar a karo na biyu da aka yi a ɗakin taro.

Ya ce kowa ya san irin yanayin da Gwamna ya zo ya tarar da harkar ilimi da kuma yadda ake a yanzu ko babu komai daga kan malaman makaranta an kyautata albashinsu an daina yi musu yanke-yanke ana sakin albashi a kan lokaci wanda a baya sai a yi kwana 40 ba su samu ba.

Ya ce sannan makarantu an same su a lalace, wasu babu rufi ba allo ba komai, sun zama kamar kango, Gwamna ya ba da aiki ta ƙarƙashin CRC ana gyara su, aka ba da kwangila gyarawa da gina sabbin ajujuuwa, bayan sanya kaso mafi yawa a kasafin kuɗi a shekararsa ta farko kashi 99.9.

Sannan a wannan shekarar ya ƙara yawan kasafin ya koma kashi 31.

Sannan kafin nan dama ya ƙaddamar da dokar ta ɓaci a kan ilimi, domin a farfaɗo da harkar da nufin maganta yanayi da ya tarar da shi

Hon. Ibrahim Ma’aji Sumaila ya yaba da irin wannan tallafi da mai taimaka wa Gwamna Hon. Hafsat Amin Adhama a kan harkar ɗalibai mata ƙanana take, wacce ita ma tana daga wanda ta ci gajiyar wannan tsari na taimakon ilimi a lokacin da Dakta Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso yana kan mulki, yanzu ita ma damar da ta samu a hannunta ta ya kamata ta taimaki na ƙasa, musamman marasa ƙarfi.

Ya ce dama shi irin wannan aiki ya wuce a zura wa gwamnati ido ita kaɗai ya kamata a ce an sami mutane da za su zo su saka hannu a taimaka domin al’umma suna da yawa a jihar Kano, kuma ga ɓarna da aka zo aka tarar an yi wa harkar ilimin da yawa domin ɓarna a rana ɗaya tana iya yiwuwa, amma gyara ba zai yiwu a rana guda ba.

Ya ƙara da cewa jihar Kano tana buƙatar mutane irin su Hafsah Adhama domin su cigaba da ba da gudunmuwa ta zaƙulo mutane ɗaiɗaiku daga kanne da maƙwabta ko daga ƙananan hukumomi domin su taimake su a kan ilimi, domin idan ba a yi irin wannan taimakon ba karatun sai ya ƙi yiwuwa saboda yanzu ana wani yanayi da kowa ta abinci yake ga kuma yawan al’umma.

Hon. Ibrahim Ma’aji Sumaila ya ce, “Yanzu saboda irin kulawa da sauƙaƙawa a harkar ilimi da Gwamna Abba Kabir Yusuf ya bijiro da shi a yanzu karatu ya fi sauƙi da araha a jihar Kano a dukkan faɗin ƙasar nan, domin ana digiri a N15,000. Ana NCE a ƙasa da N10,000. Duk ƙasar nan ba inda aka samu irin wannan garaɓasa irin jihar Kano,” in ji shi.

Kano State Domestic Postgraduate Scholarship for 2024/2025 Academic Session

Applications are invited from suitably qualified graduates for the 2nd batch of 1,001 Kano State Postgraduate Scholarship Programme for the 2024/2025 Academic Session.

Recall that the Kano State Government restored the policy of sponsoring its best graduates to pursue higher degrees last year with the inauguration of a committee to implement the "1,001 Postgraduate Scholarship Programme" on June 16, 2023. Under this programme, about 1,200 candidates applied, and 600 were recommended as qualified candidates.

The State Government flagged off the programme's first batch with 550 students on October 19, 2023. Subsequently, students were airlifted to seven foreign universities in India and Uganda for Masters Programmes in specialised and internationally competitive areas of study.

In continuation of the restored Postgraduate Scholarship Programme, the administration of the Executive Governor of Kano State, His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, inaugurated a high-powered committee on November 24, 2024. Accordingly, the committee invites applications from qualified graduates for the second batch of the Programme against the 2024/2025 Academic Session.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the scholarship must fulfill the following criteria:

1. Be an indigene of Kano State;
2. Earned a First-Class Honours Degree or equivalent from a reputable
University/Institution;
3. Not more than 30 years (for 4-5 years degree) or 35 years of age (for >5 years
degree);
4. Be medically fit;
5. Be ready for a physical screening interview;
6. Has completed NYSC or obtained an exemption or exclusion certificate;
7. Not currently enjoying another scholarship or in-service full sponsorship;
8. Submit about 500 words of personal statement; and
9. Agree to abide by all conditions of the award if successful.

Note: Candidates wishing to pursue those academic programmes identified as gaps in the state
