The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (FMHDSD) held a training for Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers (COMOs) in Kaduna, to serve as desk officers in preparation for the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) 2.0.
The equipped COMOs are expected to sensitize, mobilize and enumerate beneficiaries, belonging to the following target groups;
I. Youth
II. Women
III. Farmers
GEEP is one of the Federal Government’s National Social Investment Programmes currently being implemented across the 23 Local Government Areas of Kaduna State; National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP), National Cash Transfer Programme (NCTP), Need for Power (N-Power), and Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme (GEEP), established in 2016 to tackle poverty.
GEEP aims to grant access to credit for poor residents who are most vulnerable to economic shocks, including Persons living with Disabilities (PWDs). It helps in furtherance of poverty eradication, employment generation, growth and development of MSMEs.
These target beneficiaries will be people who are already engaged in business enterprises such as traders, artisans, enterprising youth, agricultural workers and other categories of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
NOTE:
• GEEP loans are interest free
• GEEP loans are meant for the poor and vulnerable people
• GEEP loans are only given to individuals in cooperative groups who can apply individually via dialing a specific USSD code or via their respective cooperative groups.
• Cooperative groups must share a common interest
• Only beneficiaries who need the loans for their businesses will access it
• Beneficiaries will be required to provide the following:
o Name
o Gender
o Age
o Address
o BVN
o NIN etc
The general public is therefore notified about the commencement of GEEP 2.0 programme, based on the following order of activities;
I. Sensitization
II. Registration
III. Data Collection & Collation
IV. Approval & Payments
V. Monitoring & Evaluation
Enrolments have begun across all LGAs of Kaduna State, interested groups may apply.
