His Excellency Senator , the Governor Kaduna visited Kuriga Town, in Chikun Local Government Area to condole with the people over the tragedy that befell LEA Primary Schoo.

Happy International Women’s Day. On this very special day, we celebrate our mothers, sisters and daughters for every single thing they continue to develop our communities. They are the foundation of our society, and we are extremely grateful to them.

According to the United Nations, ‘when more women work, economies grow. Women’s economic empowerment increases economic diversification and income equality. ‘Investing in women’s economic empowerment sets a direct path towards gender equality, poverty eradication and inclusive economic growth.’ In Kaduna North Federal Constituency, over 60% of the initiatives have focused on women as the beneficiaries.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2024 is titled Invest In Women: Accelerate Progress. It highlights the urgent need to support women in overcoming obstacles that limit their equal and engagement in political spheres. My team and I will continue to adhere to this.

Through the Conditional Cash Transfer Initiative (CCT), which we completed across the 12 wards in Kaduna North Federal Constituency. Over 500 vulnerable women benefitted directly and we ensured we opened bank accounts for them to enhance financial inclusion.

I would like to thank my mother, Hajiya Hadiza El-Rufai, and my amazing wife, Aisha Shuaibu El-Rufai, for guiding me. A special mention to the female staff on my team, our efficient and effevtive office secretary, Doose Kwagkhor. Our two office assistants, Josephine Abeladi and Gladys Henshaw for their tireless efforts. Finally, my sincere gratitude to the women of my constituency office, Maryam Sabo (Mai Solar), Hadiza Musa Gombe and Nafisa Idris. I am very proud of all of you. Thank you very much.

‘A storm descends on a small town, and the downpour soon turns into a flood. As the waters rise, the local preacher kneels in prayer on the church porch, surrounded by water. By and by, one of the townsfolk comes up the street in a canoe. ‘’Better get in, Preacher. The waters are rising fast. No," says the preacher. "I have faith in the Lord. He will save me." Still the waters rise. Now the preacher is up on the balcony, wringing his hands in supplication, when another guy zips up in a motorboat. ‘’Come on, Preacher. We need to get you out of here. The levee's gonna break any minute." Once again, the preacher is unmoved. "I shall remain. The Lord will see me through." After a while the levee breaks, and the flood rushes over the church until only the steeple remains above water. The preacher is up there, clinging to the cross, when a helicopter descends out of the clouds, and a state trooper calls down to him through a megaphone. ‘’Grab the ladder, Preacher. This is your last chance." Once again, the preacher insists the Lord will deliver him. And, predictably, he drowns. A pious man, the preacher goes to heaven. After a while he gets an interview with God, and he asks the Almighty, "Lord, I had unwavering faith in you. Why didn't you deliver me from that flood?"God tells him. "What did you want from me? I sent you two boats and a helicopter.’

In the name of Allah, the most beneficial, the most merciful. The general public will recall that from the month of September to October, my team and I distributed over 300, 000 books to less privileged pupils in various public schools in Kaduna North.
The initiative was in partnership with NBAIS. The books were handed to students in various Islamic schools as well as Missionary Schools in our constituency. During the campaign, I promised to focus on quality education and working to improve the literacy rate of our students.
This is specifically why we have implemented scholarship initiatives to students from Kaduna North in Kaduna State University (KASU), Kaduna Polytechnic (KADPOLY) and Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic.

In the name of Almightt Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful. I am pleased to announce that my team and I have facilitated the supply of fertilisers to farmers in Unguwar Maiburuji Ward. It is one of the wards in Kaduna North Federal Constituency.

Our constituency is urban in nature and most farming activities that are done in occur at the subsistence level. This is precisely why we focused most of our initiatives on education, health and MSMEs. Nonetheless, I am glad to announce our first agricultural initiative.

I would like to thank the team at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture as well as the contractor for the opportunity. I must specifically commend my team for their lobbying efforts. To ensure transparency, I will be setting up an ad hoc committee to supervise the process.

Food security is critical to national development. During these trying times, our farmers must be supported to increase production. This can be done through various inputs and resources that can enhance the value chain. The ad hoc committee will work closely with a point person.

Without further ado, I present the members of the ad hoc committee saddled with the responsibility of picking the lucky beneficiaries of this initiative in Maiburuji Ward. I expect them to discharge their duties in an honest and fair manner.

All the members of the ad hoc are individuals from the ward. I also recruited many aides of Hon. Aminu Lawal Aunty, my brother, friend and House Assembly Member representing Doka/Gabasawa. He is from Maiburuji Ward and knows it better than most.

"RENEWED HOPE AGENDA "GETS A BOOST : AS MALAM BALARABE ABBAS WAS SWORN IN .

By - Yusuf Usman Garba

The eventful Swearing-in of Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal as the Minister of Environment has generated a wide scale reaction as putting square peg in square hole. Against the backdrop of the numerous challenges of environmental hazard, pulverization and profound degradation of our ecosystem and biodiversity, President Tinubu's administration has certainly picked a man for the job.

Malam Balarabe will certainly add value to the nations Environmental sector knowing his immense degree of experience and capacity in various fields. The topic on environment has covered wider national and global aspects which is so important that it can not be left in the hand of a novice. In the spirit of the "Renewed Hope Agenda" the Minister will definitely bring to bear his exceptional talents into the mandate of the Ministry which are: Deforestation and Desertification, Pollution and Water Management, Climate Change and Clean Energy, Flood Erosion and Coastal Management, Shoreline protection and other remotes environmental issues.
The challenges might be enormous but the Minister is poised to giving nigerians a run for their money.

It is equally important to understand that the government has established the eight points agenda which defines its trajectory and road map, the Ministry of Environment is expected to play a strategic role in its ex*****on. Mr President understands that environmental sustainability is vital to a nation as its directly affect most of the quality of our collective existence, decided to deploy a seasoned technocrat to oversee the Ministry and the establishment of an interface with global environmental best practice.
It is expected that some critical initiatives of the Ministry that are ongoing or halted will be reviewed or revisited by the Honorable Minister, Malam Balarabe Abbas.

Projects like erosion and watershed management , Clean Energy Initiative and the strategic Ogoni clean-up will most likely be addressed diligently by the Minister. Certainly, with people like Malam Balarabe Abbas in any government, value, delivery and patriotism will be added to its shared value and vision .

The decision of Air Peace to commence commercial flight operations into Kaduna International Airport on 23rd October 2023 remains sacrosanct. This reassurance was given yesterday when Governor Uba Sani held another meeting with the Chairman of Air Peace, Barr. Allen Onyeama.

Barr. Onyeama is a true Nigerian patriot and a great friend of Kaduna State. The Kaduna State Government will give Air Peace all the assistance it requires to make its commencement of flight operations into Kaduna Airport a reality. We encourage other airlines to resume operations into Kaduna. The airport is viable. Kaduna is a choice destination for investors. Our people are welcoming.

Today, I was a Special Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker at a One Day Reflection Meeting on Kaduna Direction on Peace Building organized by Kaduna State Peace Commission and the UNDP at Hotel 17, Kaduna.

The meeting which had the theme: “Strategies for Achieving Sustainable Peace and Societal Harmony in Kaduna State” brought together top government officials, faith based organizations, civil society organizations, peace advocates, development agencies, experts on conflict transformation, and security agencies. It was a unique opportunity to reflect on the past, current and possible challenges of insecurity and to chart a new direction that will lead to a safe, peaceful and prosperous Kaduna State.

In my keynote address to the meeting, I stated that as the Chief Servant, “I am deeply worried by the ethnic and religious divisions in Kaduna State. I am the Governor of a State where all government's actions or inactions are viewed from the lenses of religion and ethnicity. I manage a state where emotions run high at the slightest provocation or perception of injustice. We are captives of our past. A past marked by incessant conflicts, bloodletting, hate and distrust.”

For us to make progress however, “we must break loose from our unpleasant past. We must collectively free ourselves from the grip of conflict merchants and agents of retrogression. We must change the narrative and bring development and progress into the discourse.”

The starting point I submitted “is for us to recognize the fact that our state is diverse, with its complexities and possibilities. We must harness our diversity and turn it into an asset. If Rwanda, which experienced ethnic cleansing that shocked the world, can become an "oasis" of peace and ethnic harmony, we have no excuse to remain captives of our past. We can replicate the Rwandan Example in Kaduna State.”

“I am conscious of the fact that leadership must play a key role in reshaping Kaduna State and making it a model of development, ethnic harmony and cooperation. We have committed ourselves to running a pro-people, pro-poor and all inclusive administration. Under my watch, equity and justice shall reign supreme in Kaduna State. Wherever you come from or wherever you reside, be assured that development will reach you. You will feel the impact of the government.”

“Our administration shall intensify and broaden efforts at ensuring the security and safety of lives & property in the State. We will deploy modern systems as well as community-based protocols to prevent & detect crime. We shall prioritize the maintenance of Law & Order as the Bedrock of societal co-existence. We are determined to break the cycle of impunity. All those who want to test the will of the government would have themselves to blame. If you break the law, be ready to face the consequences.”

“We shall empower the Kaduna State Peace Commission to strengthen its delivery of its mandate to anticipate and help deter and resolve conflicts. With the support of the good people of Kaduna State, we shall build a state where no man or woman will feel oppressed. We shall build a state where no person or place will be left behind.”

The Governor emphasized the administration's plan to equip health workers with the necessary tools for making informed decisions, delivering accurate diagnoses, and administering effective treatments.

Governor Sani expressed his appreciation for the support and collaboration received from both the public and private sectors in turning this vision into a reality. He stated that their partnership is a clear example of how collective action can lead to sustainable development.
