SAD!😔 Adebayo Street, Jos, Plateau State
A fire that broke out today, 18 February, destroyed several houses, shops, and offices worth millions of naira at Adebayo Street in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Gathering from residents of the area, the fire started in the early hours of the morning while people were still asleep. Many buildings were severely damaged, and victims are now counting their losses.
The victims believe the fire started at a communication mast and quickly spread to nearby houses and shops. It destroyed property worth millions of naira, including cash.
A victim, shared, “I live close to where the fire started. I have an office in one of the buildings that burned down. When I looked through the window, I saw the fire spreading to other houses. When I went outside, I saw how badly our property was damaged. A woman lost 3 million naira in cash. It’s very unfortunate.”
According to , one Abdulrahman Onimisi, another victim, said, “I lost millions of naira worth of property. I’m a carpenter, and I couldn’t even save a needle from my workshop. After years of hard work, I lost everything in just one day. I’m at a loss for words.”
Another victim who also lost her belongings, explained, “We were sleeping when we suddenly heard a small explosion. When we went outside, we saw the fire at the communication mast. My neighbors and I tried to put out the fire, but we couldn’t. Even the fire fighters who arrived couldn’t stop it. The fire burned our house, and we lost a lot of property.”
