For those who don't understand what subsidy means:
Subsidy means when someone pays for part of
something you consume.
- The government pays for half the price of the fuel sold
in Nigeria.
- That is if you buy fuel for 250 Naira/Litre, the
government had already paid around 125 Naira for that
litre.
- Removing fuel subsidy means the government stops
paying half for the citizens
- The reason they want to do this is to save the money
they use to pay for that fuel.
- When this happens, you now get to pay the FULL price
of he fuel.
- Fuel goes from 250 to 500Naira - real price

Hilda Basi’s manager just shared the news on Instagram that her client Hilda, who is attempting to break the Guinness Book of Records, is on her monthly period.

Even with that inconvenience, Hilda is still able to maintain optimal cognitive ability and coherence despite all the stress.

But the biggest win for me is that Hilda has scaled her brand, her chef skills, and her business to another level because of her courage, her innovative spirit to try something creative, and her ability to dare.

Let me explain how:

Before now,Hilda was a chef who owned an obscure restaurant with just one location in Lagos.

Not many people know about her or her restaurant.

The restaurant is only known among Hilda’s friends, but today, the restaurant has blown without spending one kobo on advertising.

I can only imagine the kind of traffic that will be queuing up to eat at the restaurant after today.

Her chef skills will be in demand as more high-net-worth people call her to come and prepare meals for them at their homes.

She can also open a catering school in Lagos and Abuja which will serve as a platform to train more young people who want to cook like she does.

The numbers on her Instagram page, which includes her chef business, her restaurant page, and her personal page, have gone up by over 10,000% in the last 48 hours.

I hope and believe that her restaurant will leverage on her fame and new social capital to scale by opening more locations across Lagos and even expanding beyond Lagos.

But beyond this, food brands like Tiger Foods Limited should be having an internal conversation on how to tap into her newfound fame by partnering with her and then scaling with it.

If I were a strategist managing a food brand like Nestle or Unilever, I should be in a meeting with my client by now, discussing how we can leverage her newfound fan base to launch new products or even sign her as a celebrity ambassador.

Hilda is now a full-time celebrity who will be in demand by food brands after this.

I hope she uses this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity well by recruiting a good brand management company, which will manage her and also help her to grow her brand, build social capital,scale her restaurant business, and open a catering school, which in turn will increase her monthly sales and earnings.

There are so many business lessons to learn from the tenacity of purpose, resilience, and courage of our modern-day Idan that pushes herself to do the extra ordinary and watching her pour her heart and soul into this endeavor has been nothing short of remarkable

I am that young lady that have discovered her dream long time ago but can't push it further because of help from nowhere, and not even a guidian or an adviser.

But today, as I see this pretty lady Hilda trying harder to break the Guinness Record !🤗 Flying everywhere on Facebook actually brought my hope and even strength back.

20 things to know about Hilda Baci and her Guinness World Record Marathon Cooking

1. Her real name is Hilda Bassey Effiong. She is a young Nigerian chef from Akwa Ibom State. She owes a food brand in Lagos called "My Food by Hilda"

2. She will be cooking for 4 days non-stop.

3. She must stand to cook, she is not permitted to sit while cooking.

4. She’s not allowed to take coffee, stimulants, or any energy drink to artificially boost her energy and bodily strength while cooking.

5. She's allowed to eat food, drink water or fruit juice, and take glucose.

6. The cooking is taking place at Amore Gardens, Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria.

7. She cooks round the clock, no sleep (Morning, afternoon, evening, and night. So, for 4 nights, she won't sleep)

8. She has just 5 minutes rest per hour [meaning for every 1 hour, she is entitled to just 5 minutes rest or break, that's an hour break in every 12 hours].

She gets a 30-minute break every 6 hours, she spends the 30mins in a medical van which is just close by, within which she can nap, use the restroom, and also get a medical assessment or checkup by the medical team available on the spot.

9. Whatever she cooks is shared to the people at the venue for FREE. She is not selling the food.

10. She cooks different meals simultaneously. She is at liberty to cook any meal she likes. There are no restrictions as to what she can cook or not cook. The World Record title is about cooking within a time frame, not about what is cooked. As long as she is cooking, she is on track.

11. Every meal cooked and every plate served is recorded. She has cooked over 115 meals so far with almost 3,000 portions if not more by the time you are reading this.

12. She started the cooking on Thursday and is expected to complete the target time frame by Monday 15th May, 2023 evening.

13. The current holder of the title Hilda seeks to break is an Indian chef Lata Tandon, who set a Guinness World Record for cooking for 87 hours and 45 minutes non-stop in 2019.

14. To break the record, Hilda Baci is attempting to cook for 96 hours, using extra 9 hours to break the world record as the first human on earth to spend such an amount of time cooking a marathon.

15. She tagged the cooking project "Cook-a-thon", a phrase literally coined from the word "marathon"

16. She appears exhausted already, but the people around her are cheering her on to boost her morale. And they are available with her as she cook 247, even at night.

17. Most of the food items, ingredients, utensils, etc she used for this project are provided by her sponsors. So, the money expended on this project is not 100% from Hilda or her Food brand.

18. Uber, one of her partners is offering a 40% discounted ride to the venue for people who wishes to join and cheer her up at the venue.

19. Hilda's mum is also a chef. She owes a food brand called "Calabar Pot"

20. She is 27 years of age.
