2024 Ilorin Durbar : Best Dressed Winners Announced

The organizer of the 2024 Ilorin Emirate Durbar has announced the winners of the Best Dressed awards. The six winners were revealed in a graphic posted on the Ilorin Emirate Grand Durbar page.

In the male category, Sulu-Gambari Bashehu secured the first position, followed by Sulu-Gambari Abubakar in second place and Sulu-Gambari Lanre in third. The Best Dressed Female award was presented to Toyibat Sulu-Gambari.

These individuals were recognized for their exceptional ability to showcase a perfect blend of traditional elegance and modern style, distinguishing them as the most stylish participants of the Ilorin Emirate Durbar 2024.

The annual Durbar festival, held at the Ilorin Emir’s Palace, is a vibrant celebration that attracts locals and diaspora members alike, honoring the rich cultural heritage of the town.

PHOTO NEWS: Kwara State Polytechnic's Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) has today 26th of June 2024 concluded its 10th anniversary with parallel technical sessions as part of the activities lined up to commemorate the Decade existence of the Institute, highlighting significant technological strides and educational achievements.

IICT as an Institute, encompasses four departments of information and technology courses; Mass Communication, Computer Science, Office Technology Management, and Library and Information Science.

The Sessions featured research paper presentations by each department's Lecturers on the theme of the Anniversary: "Leveraging Information and Communication Technology for Entrepreneurial Possibilities."

Shortly After the Technical Sessions, a Solar Powered Digital Bill Board displaying the Department of Computer Science, Time and Date, a final year project of the Computer Science Department HND 2 students, was jointly unveiled by the Institute's Director, Dr. Raji Kamaldeen; HOD Mass Communication department, Mr. Fatiu Olohungbebe and Computer Science HOD, Mr. Oyedepo Femi.

PHOTO STORY: Kwara State Polytechnic's Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) has commemorated its 10th anniversary with a resplendent celebration, highlighting a decade of significant technological strides and educational achievements.

IICT is an Institute that encompasses four departments of information and technology courses; Mass Communication, Computer Science, Office Technology Management, and Library and Information Science, was carved out of the then Institute of Applied and Basic Sciences (IBAS) by the Academic Board in 2013/2014 academic session under the leadership of a former Rector of the polytechnic, Alhaji Mas'ud Elelu.

The anniversary scheduled to be held between the 24th & 27th of June, 2024, started with a rally where the Institute's Academics and Non-Academic Staff including the students paraded the polytechnic premises, creating awareness with great enthusiasm. This was followed by a novelty football match where the Lecturers Team defeated the Students with 3 goals to 1.

A Technical Session took place on the 25th of June at Rear Admiral Lawal Auditorium of the Polytechnic with the theme "Leveraging Information and Communication Technology for Entrepreneurial Possibilities." This featured Lectures, an Award Presentation to some important personalities who have contributed to the development of IICT, and an exhibition of Practical research work done so far by the relevant departments, demonstrating IICT's role as a hub for creativity and problem-solving.

The event brought together students, faculty, alumni, and esteemed guests to reflect on the institute's journey and envision its future trajectory.
