The Story of Princess Inikpi, the young woman who offered herself as a sacrifice to be buried alive.

Princess Inikpi was a beautiful and intelligent young woman, whose selfless sacrifice saved Igala people from doom.

She was the only daughter of her parents — the Atah Ayegba Oma Idoko and queen Omele.

The Igala Kingdom at about the 15th and 16th century was at loggerheads with the Benin Kingdom, one of their strongest enemies.

The Benin warriors persistently attacked Igala land to the extent of wanting to annihilate the people.

The Bini warriors employed different tactics, including poisoning the streams, sudden attacks in the day and night, and laying siege to their farmland.

The Igala people then lived in constant fear, as they could not go to the farm or to the stream.

Owing to this, the chiefs consulted the oracle, which proclaimed that the only remedy to the safety of the kingdom and victory in war, was for the king to bury his most beloved daughter, Inikpi, alive.

The king had four male children — Akogu, Agada, Eleme, Ohiemi Obogo — and Inikpi his only female child. He loved Inikpi so much, which was one of the reasons she was always in the palace with the father.

The king was distraught and for days could not eat or drink. He pleaded with the oracle to accept slaves, but it insisted it must be royal blood — Inikpi.

The Princess noticed his father’s unhappy mood and tried to find out why, but he would not tell her.

She became worried too and persisted to ask until the seventh day, the king told her what the oracle said he should do to save Igala land and the people from destruction.

Knowing the reason for her father’s sad mood, Inikpi promised to offer herself. Her acceptance brought mourning across the land, especially from Omele, her mother.

On the appointed day, Inikpi went to the bank of River Niger at Ida and was buried alive alongside nine virgin slaves that would help her thereafter.

After the sacrifice, as the Bini warriors advanced .

Kenya’s top prosecutor on Tuesday ordered that 95 people from a doomsday cult be charged with murder, cruelty, child torture and other crimes in the deaths of 429 people believed to be members of the church.

The country's director of public prosecutions, Mulele Ingonga, was responding to pressure from a magistrate in the coastal county of Kilifi who told the prosecution to charge the suspects within two weeks or the court would release them.

For months since the arrests last April, prosecutors had asked the court for permission to keep holding church leader Paul Mackenzie and 28 others while they looked into the case that shocked Kenyans with the discovery of mass graves and allegations of starvation and strangulation.

Principal Magistrate Yousuf Shikanda declined the latest request to hold the suspects for an additional 60 days, saying the prosecution had been given enough time to complete investigations.

The case emerged when police rescued 15 emaciated parishioners from Mackenzie’s church in Kilifi county in Kenya’s southeast. Four died after the group was taken to a hospital.

Survivors told investigators the pastor had instructed them to fast to death before the world ends so they could meet Jesus.

A search of the remote, forested area found dozens of mass graves, authorities have said. Autopsies on some bodies showed starvation, strangulation or suffocation.

Other charges that the suspects will face include manslaughter, radicalization, assault causing grievous bodily harm and engaging in organized criminal activity.

FRAUD IN BUHARI GOVT AS N1.5 TRILLION, $9 BILLION TRACED TO NIMASA BOSS, BASHIR JAMOH’S PERSONAL ACCOUNTS

United Kingdom investigators have bursted another corruption scandal in the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration involving the Managing Director, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Bashir Jamoh, where various sums including N1.5 Trillion and another $9,557,312.50 have been traced to his personal accounts.

Pointblanknews.com investigation revealed that N1.5 Trillion was found in a Fidelity Account 4020949836 linked to Bashir Jamoh, who is also the father-in-law of Sabiu Yusuf aka Tunde, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant.

Curiously, the Fidelity account with N1, 505,890,450,000.67 has Hamza Ibrahim Jamoh with BVN 22151837650 and Cell phone number 08034517410. While the BVN number revealed a different identity, the cell phone linked to the account is linked to the DG of NIMASA, Jamoh, according to Pointblanknews.com investigations.

Pointblanknews.com investigations revealed that the N1.5trillion was after few months cleared from the account to avoid investigations on the lodgment of such huge amount.

In a four page document titled due diligent report on Bashiru Yusuf Jamoh, the Director-General NIMASA, which pointblanknews.com has copies, the report exposed another lodgment of $9,557,312.50 into Access Bank account 0710814478 also belonging to him.

The investigation also exposed other infractions by the agency’s boss which also include award of contracts to companies which he has interest in.

The investigation, according to the report focused on fraud, money laundering and breach of the Nigeria code of conduct act. This same investigation, it stated spans across all the Agencies under the Ministry of Transport having started with the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA.

GLOBAL INVESTIGATORS UNITED KINGDOM, the investigation agency that signed the report investigated the bank transactions of Alhaji Jamoh focusing on inflows/Credit and Debits on his bank statements.

It found the transaction’s records of BASHIR YUSUF JAMOH showing the payment of $9,557,312.50 (Nine million, five hundred and fifty-seven thousand, three hundred and twelve dollars and fifty cents) into his personal accounts from Central Bank of Nigeria in violation of the Treasury Single Account, TSA.

“Most baffling is that CBN transferred millions of dollars into the personal account of BASHIR YUSUF JAMOH.

“Records shows the withdrawal of $5,425,200.00 (Five million, Four hundred and twenty-five thousand and two hundred dollars only) by CASH WITHDRAWAL from ACCESS Bank, Burma Road, Apapa, Lagos.

“BASHIR YUSUF JAMOH set up a company TALENT EXPERTISE INTL. LIMITED with RN: 1488830 to solicit for jobs from NIMASA. Being the director of a company and awarding contract to own company in violation of the code of conduct act section 3 part of the Third Schedule of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and code of conduct for public officers involved in procurement, Part X1, section 57, Sub-section (2) of the Procurement Act, 2007.”

According to the report, BIXBY OIL LIMITED has also paid money into his account, and the following payment into the account of the company was captured.

The UK group said with reference to the allegations against Bashir Yusuf Jamoh, it is important that he be suspended from office immediately, and forensic audit carried out on the financial activities of NIMASA.

“We recommend that a panel be set up to look into the accounts of NIMASA CABOTAGE 2% SURCHAGE account Number 56595 with ACCESS bank. Also, to ascertain reasons why NIMASA is still using Commercial] Banks to receive funds instead of the TSA with Central Bank of Nigeria.

“The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele should be invited by Security Agencies to give reasons why payment of such huge amount was paid into Bashir Yusuf Jamoh’s account.

“We also recommend that Bashir Yusuf be prosecuted for financial crimes and money laundering as established by our investigations.”

Pointblanknews.com investigation revealed that Jamoh is Buhari’s direct in-law. His wife, Hajiya Zulai, is the daughter of the President’s sister and it was while living at Buhari’s Kaduna home that Zulai and Jamoh met.

Jamoh who untill recently was the Executive Director, Administration and Finance in the agency took over office from Dakuku Peterside.

It is not known yet the purpose for the huge sum in a personal account and why the security agency is yet to investigate the fund, but information available to pointblanknews.com has it that the money was meant to be laundered.

Relatives to President Buhari has been in the spotlight over corruption in this present administration.

Recently, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) declared Gimba Yau Kumo, a former son-in-law of President Muhammadu Buhari, wanted over an alleged $65 million fraud.

Kumo, a former managing director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, married Fatima, the president’s daughter, in 2016 at Daura, Katsina state.

𝙃𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙊𝙍𝙔 𝙊𝙁 𝙐𝙂𝙃𝙀𝙇𝙇𝙄

Ughelli oral tradition has it that their great ancestor and founding father of Ughelli (Ughene) is the second son of Oghwoghwa, a Prince from Benin Kingdom. As history has gone, Oghwoghwa in search of his own kingdom first settlement was at Tarakiri and later left for Ogoviri now the current site of Ogo Techinal College.

Though Urhobo is a group that belongs the people whose written history is largely undocumented. There is almost an absence of European record in their history, the history of Urhobo people generally began from Edo territory where the ancient town of Udo and Benin City are currently located. At the end of the Ogiso dynasty, many Urhobo and Edo-groups left Udo in different directions, each at its own pace, in search of more peaceful territories. It was natural that in those compelling circumstances, peace loving and less powerful Edo-groups had to leave the territory to seek fortunes in less populated but more economically resourceful territories.
Historically, Urhobo people's origin is rooted in their oral tradition.They believe in migration from Aka (present day Edo territory). Although all 22 kingdoms have distinct dialects and traditions that reflect slight variation in origin and migratory patterns, there is a universal Urhobo language.

Ughelli is one of the oil producing areas of the state in Delta Sate with at least 45 oil wells.
It has an estimates population of 300,000 spread across seven major clans namely; Ughelli, Orogun, Agbarha, Agbarho, Uwheru, Evwreni and Ogor each with a traditional ruler.

Due to inter-family crisis, Ughelli left Ogoviri and founded Ovwodoawanre (Old Settlement) before the present settlement headquarter at Otovwodo. Ughelli is been headed by a tradional ruler known as King (Ovie) and the first to settle and ruled since moving from Ogovirir was HRH Awhaide.

However, Ughelli is one of the largest communities in Urhobo land, both in terms of size and population. The town has several schools owned by a government and private individuals, a general hospital, local government secretariat, good motorable roads. The community is a notable link between Delta North and Delta South. The community is rich is crude oil and gas which is evident in the presence of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC).
Ughelli kingdom is said to have seven major clans namely; Ughelli, Orogun, Agbarha, Agbarho, Uwheru, Evwreni and Ogor each with a traditional ruler. The people are Urhobo. It is also the seat of the Ovie of Ughelli.

Ughelli lies within the tropical rain forest area of the Niger-delta. The region experiences high rainfall and high humidity most of the year.
The Ughelli People speak Urhobo language. It is linguistically similar to that spoken by the neighboring Isoko people. They also speak English and “Pidgin English” as a result of globalization and development of the community.

Ughelli people forbid the marriage to a close relative or any form of in**st.
They forbid eating of Orua
They view adultery as abomination, in fact a taboo.

What Can Positive Affect Do for You?

The role of positive affect in leadership.

Think of an acquaintance that you really like and someone who you might label as “charismatic.” Odds are that that person is upbeat, optimistic, and has a generally positive attitude and sunny disposition.

Research has suggested that positive affect—conveying positive emotions (happiness, interest)—has a big impact on others. We evaluate people who express positive affect more favorably. This is important for leaders. It helps in making good first impressions and in building positive relationships with others in the workplace.

In addition, there is good evidence that expressing positive affect regularly feeds back and leads to greater job satisfaction. This is not surprising because we know that peoples’ general moods can influence all aspects of their lives.

So, is positive affect a “cure all”? Probably not. We know that when people experience job dissatisfaction and accompanying negative moods, they are motivated to change things. However, all in all, displaying positive affect whenever possible is a good strategy for leaders.

For Development: First, it is important to get some feedback about your general disposition—more positive, or is it generally more negative? A trusted friend or relative can help with that. Try to use what you’ve learned previously about displaying and regulating emotions to present more positive affect when interacting with others in the workplace. It is difficult for some of us because it goes against the way we generally present ourselves emotionally.

Bosses from Hell: A Typology of Bad Leaders

Many leaders are ineffective and the worst can be horribly destructive.

Let’s look at the types of bad leaders, ranging from do-nothing bosses to the most virulent and evil:

Laissez-faire leaders. This classic type is leader in name only, sometimes called “abdicratic” because they abdicate/give up their leadership responsibilities. I encountered a manager of a regional sales office, Dennis, who, although he looked the part, was a terrible leader because of his inability to make any sort of decisions for his team. Instead, his salespeople simply learned not to count on Dennis and to make their own plans and decisions. Ironically, Dennis’s team was successful in spite of his ineffectiveness, and he was promoted (which led to his downfall as his laissez-faire nature became apparent to superiors in his next position).

Incompetent leaders. An enormously large category ranging from those who lack basic managerial and leadership skills, to inflexible leaders who use the same strategy regardless of the situation, to leaders who exhibit low levels of motivation or constantly make bad decisions. I worked for one leader whose low level of motivation was extraordinary. Although he relished his leadership role, he typically delegated most of his responsibilities to others, and provided little oversight.

Toxic leaders. Leadership scholar, Jean Lipman-Blumen31 defines toxic leaders as those whose “destructive behaviors and dysfunctional personal characteristics generate serious and enduring poisonous effects…on those they lead.” Toxic leaders work toward their own selfish ends and usually leave followers “worse off than they found us.” She mentions Enron executives, Andrew Fastow and Jeffrey Skilling as examples of toxic business leaders, as well as leaders of cults, such as the People’s Temple’s Jim Jones.

Evil leaders, pure and simple. I would argue that Adolf Hi**er, Pol Pot, and other despotic leaders are so morally corrupt and narcissistically self-centered that they make up a separate category of the very worst leaders—beyond merely bad or toxic.

For Development: What lessons can we learn from these bad leaders? The big things—toxicity, incompetence—are obvious. But, are there more subtle elements that can lead an otherwise good leader down the dark path?

2023 ELECTION: GOV. UZODIMMA PROMISES ENABLING ENVIRONMENT DURING CAMPAIGNS

In continuation of ensuring the prevalence of Democracy and the Rule of Law in the State, the Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has admonished all Political Parties to go about their campaigns within the ambit of the Law.

The Governor said that no party would be denied access to space for their campaigns.

However, he instructed that all campaign organizations must write to the appropriate authorities and spaces available would be made accessible to them.

According to the Governor, "Where APC will campaign is where I want PDP to campaign, it's where I want Labour party to campaign. After campaigns, we will give our people the opportunity to choose".

The Governor frowned at the burning of the INEC office and facility and warned the perpetrators to desist from such undemocratic acts or be faced with the wrath of the Law.

He added that the success of democracy is a collective responsibility of all parties by behaving ourselves.

"Let us allow the Government of the people, by the people and for the people to thrive". Governor Uzodimma stated.

```•••IT TAKES ONE, TO MAKE ONE••• """"""""""""""""""""""""""
The thought that always Keeps me Forging Ahead Irrespective Of The Challenge's I Personally Face In The Race Of Life Because I Could Vividly Remember during Hour And Time When the Philistines were at war again with Israel, David and his servants with him went down and fought against the Philistines; and David grew faint. Then Ishbi-Benob, who was one of the sons of the giant . . . thought he could kill David. But Abishai the son of Zeruiah came to his aid, and struck the Philistine and killed him. 2 SAMUEL 21:15–17
According to Albert Schweitzer, “Example is not the main thing in influencing others . . . it is the only thing.” Part of creating an appealing climate is modeling leadership. People emulate what they see modeled. Positive model, positive response. Negative model, negative response. What leaders do, the potential leaders around them do. What they value, their people value. Leaders set the tone. Leaders cannot demand of others what they do not demand of themselves.
As you and I as leaders grow and improve, so will those we lead. We need to remember that when people follow behind us, they can only go as far as we go. If our growth stops today, our ability to lead will stop along with it. Neither personality nor methodology can substitute for personal growth. We cannot model what we do not possess. Begin learning and growing today, and watch those around you begin to grow.
Name one area where there’s room for personal growth. What will you do about it?
PRESS STATEMENT.
DOGARA IS SEEKING RELEVANCE-----AFEGBUA.
I have just read a piece of news that says Yakubu Dogara and his co-travellers are endorsing Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 election. My first impression was to question why a gentleman of Idris Wada's orientation would fall prey to this needless profiling of religion and politics; two mutually distinct institutions with different end-point belief. Religion talks about eternity, politics talks about earthly engagements. How religion should dominate political discourse is still a matter of contradiction to me. Idris Wada, please run away from that group before they use your head to break coconut.
When I read the contents of the statement issued by Yakubu Dogara and his ilks, I started searching for the names of the members who want to play God in the political aspiration of Asiwaju Tinubu. It is on record that Dogara wanted to be a running mate. No qualms about that. Should heaven now fall because someone else was selected? Is Atiku Abubakar they have endorsed a Christian? Why do we love promoting contradiction to the hilt just for our own pecuniary gains? I can bet that APC will defeat Dogara in his Ward, come 2023. And I know APC will also defeat PDP in Bauchi state too. I also saw my friend's name Mohammed Kumaila. I just laughed. Persons who are neither here nor there, vacillating all over the place trying to find relevance.
If you quarel about APC choice, as a Christian, why not endorse a Christian presidential candidate in Obi, instead of Atiku a muslim? This goes to show that it is all a matter of stomach infrastructure. Muktar Shagari is a member of PDP so declaring that he has endorsed Atiku appears to me like a cracked music. Achuba, is mortally broke and seeking for pay cheque. They think Atiku Abubakar will open his vault for them; how laughable. A Christian, who truly believes in justice and equity, should naturally know that in a country of several pluralities, there is the need to balance all the algorithms of power. After a Northern presidency in Buhari, it should naturally be the turn of the South. But for dubious reasons, no altruistic minded person would concede to retention of political power in the North after Buhari's 8 years. I am aware they have been putting pressure on the president to support Atiku, their plot will fail abysmally.
After a man has been speaker of the House of Reps in Nigeria, he should naturally be magnanimous when dealing with religious issues and not appearing so desperate to halt the trajectory of symbiotic relationship. Leave religion for the practitioners, leave politics for the politicians. The two are mutually exclusive. Beyond seeking for relevance, there is absolutely nothing that is pushing Yakubu Dogara for taking this challenge of his anti-party diatribe.
THE LEADER’S REFUGE
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him will I trust.”
PSALM 91:1–2
We discover one of the most comforting chapters in the Bible is Psalm 91. It describes the security believers can enjoy through faith in God. Leaders especially can benefit from this set of promises. Study them and enjoy them:
PROMISE
1. God’s presence
2. God’s protection
3. God’s peace
4. God’s perspective
5. God’s provision
6. God’s power
LEADER’S BENEFIT
1. It doesn’t have to be lonely at the top.
2. As you take initiative and risks, God keeps you safe.
3. You don’t have to feel insecure in unknown territory.
4. God gives an eternal view of life that keeps you steady.
5. Regardless of your needs, God meets them.
6. In adversity, God delivers and helps you reach your goal
How do you see God’s promises benefitting your life?
