We made their hearts firm when they stood up and said, “Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth.

We shall never invoke any god other than Him, otherwise we would be saying something far from the truth.”

The immense love of Allah for Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Sheikh Ahmed from Uganda delivers an amazing sermon in Pakistan on the love of Allah for His Messenger, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In this short excerpt, the speaker reveals that not once in the Quran does Allah call upon His Messenger by his direct name “Muhammad” as He otherwise does when calling upon all other Prophets. For instance Allah states: “O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John.” Quran 19:7 ““O Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden” Quran 2:35 “O Yahya! take hold of the Book with might” Quran 19:12 “O Noah, disembark in security from Us and blessings” Quran 11:48 Yet when Allah calls upon His Messenger, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, He does not use his name, but rather He says: “Oh Prophet, do not obey the disblievers and hypocrites”. Quran 33:1 “Oh he who wraps himself (with a garment), arise (to pray) part of the night except a little”. Quran 73:1-2 “Oh covered one, arise and warn”. Quran 74:1-2 Allah does not call upon His Messenger, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, by his first name, rather He calls upon him with names signifying his noble status out of love and compassion. In fact, the only time Allah does use the Messenger’s name “Muhammad” is to establish his link with the Prophethood and the message he has received. “And Muhammad is not but a Messenger”. Quran 3:144 “Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets.” Quran 33:40 All these examples highlight the love Allah has for His noble Messenger Muhammad ﷺ. They all serve as a subtle illustration of Allah’s close love for His Messenger, that He will only call upon him by names signifying his noble role in favour of calling him by his direct name. These examples are not to downplay the greatness of any of the Prophets, but rather highlight the esteem of the final Prophet, Muhammad ﷺ, the leader of all the children of Adam.
Loving the Prophet Muhammad

Governor Fubara, PDP Governors lose out as the PDP NWC grants Wike control over Rivers

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has solidified his position in the Peoples Democratic Party leadership crisis as the National Working Committee endorsed the Rivers State congresses

Wike’s loyalist within the PDP National Working Committee also successfully gained approval and postponed the National Executive Committee meeting, which was initially scheduled for September 26, to October 24.

“They have achieved their aim. Wike has again defeated the PDP governors as the NWC approved the Rivers and other states’ congresses. There was nothing a few NWC members who were against it could do other than allow them to have their way. As it stands, only the NEC can overturn it to suit the governors’ demands.

“The Rivers State Congresses and those of other states were approved by the NWC. A few states where issues were identified were stepped down. For example, in Kogi, the Chairman and Deputy were not approved due to anomalies.

“Only the NEC can overturn the NWC’s decision on Rivers and other states. However, the NEC meeting, originally slated for September 26, has been postponed to October 24, which may not hold on that date. As it stands, Wike has defeated the Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed-led PDP Governors Forum,” A source told the Punch.

PDP governors had earlier called for a review of the Rivers State Congresses and affirmed Fubara’s role as the leader of the PDP in the state.

This support for Fubara enraged Wike, who on August 31 threatened to create chaos in the governors’ states if they did not refrain from interfering in Rivers State matters.

Why is Nigeria paying more for fuel, and what are the solutions?

What Nigerians need to understand is that the government cannot fund us. Rather, we fund the government. There are only four ways by which a government can get revenue.

The first is by sending the resources of the people and the state and claiming it as its own, which General Aguiyi Ironsi did with his Unification of Assets Decree Number 34 of May 24, 1966. The second is by taxing citizens and corporations. The third is printing money. The fourth is borrowing money. Other than these ways and means, governments do not have money that they generate.

We Nigerians are some of the most entitled people on Earth. We expect a lot from our government, yet we hardly pay taxes. Nigerians will watch a movie set in Europe and complain that we want what we see. European nations, like Germany, have a tax-to-GDP ratio of 39%, while Nigeria has a tax-to-GDP ratio of less than 10%.

If you earn €58.597 in Germany, you will pay 42% of your income or €24,610 as taxes. There will be riots if you ask Nigerians to pay this type of tax. So, where will the money to run Nigeria come from?

Oil? Saudi Arabia has a population of 35 million and makes $350 billion annually from oil. That is $10,000 per citizen. Nigeria has a population of 220 million people and generates approximately $36 billion from crude annually. That is $150 per person. At 2.6 million people, Qatar is just one per cent of our population. Yet, their annual revenue is $68 billion. Two and a half times that of Nigeria.

Nigeria is not "oil rich". We are oil-poor. On a per capita basis, Ghana is more oil-rich than we are. We produce 1.5 million barrels per day for a population of 220 million people. Ghana produces 200,000 barrels per day for a population of 32 million.

So, when Nigerians hardly pay taxes and our oil and gas revenue is insufficient to meet the demands of running our country, we are forced to borrow or print money, which means that inflation will increase.

And under this situation, we cannot afford to artificially reduce the price of fuel by paying subsidy. We will go bankrupt. Therefore, much as this annoys you, the only options are to allow market forces to control the price of fuel, just as it does other commodities, or we must be prepared to pay higher taxes.

Failing that, Nigeria will continue to borrow or print more money, fueling inflation and increasing commodity prices.

Protests and riots cannot change these economic realities. They will be just like a child's tantrum when his parents cannot afford to buy him a toy.
