SUSPENSION OF OSPOLY RECTOR: ALUMNI URGES MEMBERS TO STAY CALM AS THE ASSOCIATION TAKES GIANT STEP TONIGHT

Osun state Polytechnic Iree Alumni Association (OSPAA) has urged its members across the globe to remain calm over the suspension of Rector of Osun State Polytechnic Iree, Dr Tajudeen Odetayo on the allegations leveled against him.

This is contained in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the Association, Adekunle Sikiru in early hours of today.

The Association through the National President, Alh Yakub Akeem Adebayo said, the allegations before the Rector need to be verified by appropriate authorities.

The released stressed that the decision of Osun State Polytechnic Iree Alumni Association on the suspension of the Rector and appointment of the new Acting Rector will be made known publicly as all Alumni members across the globe are interested in justice and adequate process of decisions especially issues that affect educational sector in Nigeria.

The Alumni Association therefore appealed to members to stay calm and remain patriotic as the Alumni body will unveil decisions on issues affecting Osun State Polytechnic Iree as their Alma mata.

UNIOSUN SUSPENDS 100 LEVEL STUDENT FOR ALLEGED INVOLVEMENT IN ROBBERY
..VC Expresses shock at allegation

Osun State University has suspended an 100 level student of its Department of English and Literary studies for alleged involvement in conspiracy and robbery.

This information was obtained in a press conference called by the University on Thursday, 13th July, 2023, at its Osogbo main campus.

Recall that news broke on Tuesday, 12th July, 2023, linking Ahiante Victory Ehiremen, a student of the University to the alleged conspiracy and robbery of a Lagos-based businessman.

Speaking to pressmen, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor 'Ayo Clement Adebooye, expressed shock at the allegation leveled against the accused and inferred that her case was a deviation from the norm of high standards in character and learning that the University has come to be well-renowned for.

The Vice-Chancellor said "As we all know, Osun State University is widely renowned for our commitment to excellence in academics and core values of responsible, law abiding and highly patriotic citizenry. We remain absolutely committed to these ideals.

"And we do not relent in the pursuit and actualization of these lofty moral standards. This is why in the last six months, three of our former students have distinguished themselves both at national and international levels. Therefore, our university is a brand name and we seek to do everything to protect and guard jealously the good image and reputation.

"The case of Ahiante Victory Ehiremen is a shock to us, even as she is in her first year of study. I got a security report on her case, and with the official information available, an allegation of conspiracy and robbery has been established against her by the Police authorities. Consequently, she is in police custody for further investigations and prosecution.
