Meet AZEEZ SODIQ ADESINA, personal assistant and media Aide to the executive chairman, Ibarapa Central Local Government, Igboora, Oyo State:

Azeez Sodiq Adesina hails from Olukotun Ogun Street, Oke Odo, Igboora, Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State.

His Education:

He attained his First School Leaving Certificate at Adegoke Nursery and Primary School, Igboora in 2000.

Sodiq attended Igboora High School, Igboora between the year 2001 and 2003 for his Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and ultimately bagged his O'level certificate at Oyo State School of Science, Idere in the period of 2003 and 2006.

In his insatiable curiosity for academic excellence, he gained admission in 2009 on National Diplomatic programme to study Hospitality Management in Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun State. He opted for the Higher National Diplomatic programme in the same school and graduated with Upper Credit in Hospitality Management (2016).

Social Engagements:

Sodiq was the Treasurer of his department, Tourism and Hospitality Management, in Federal Polytechnic Ede.

During his HND programme at Ede, Azeez Sodiq became the elected President of his department having won the poll on a wide-margin victory to manage affairs of the department for a year.

He was a member of Road Safety Club, Rs7.25 Bida Unit and take the leadership affair as cadet-in-chief for a year.

Azeez Sodiq belongs to a circle of enlightened young minds in his country home, Igboora and the region, Ibarapa where he participates actively in social, academic and cultural initiatives aimed at developing Ibarapa and fostering sense of unity and togetherness among the youths.

His presence at each of these occasions resonates with his active input alongside that of others and the sobriquet De Culture is, hitherto, an household name in the nook and cranny of Ibarapa.

Sodiq is also a social media campaigner of education, tourism and infrastructure as developments that are key to rapid growth of an underdeveloped community such as Ibarapa and he has prominently invested his time and resources to creating awareness around three key areas of community development.

In 2020, Sodiq Adesina took to social media to openly craved indulgence of the then local government administration of Ibarapa Central and the public to a collapsed culvert that links Oke-Odo and Odo Era area of Oja Igboora.

He erected red flags, signalling the worst condition of the culvert, thereby calling attention of the road users to the danger ahead as the spot was already becoming a death trap, having occasioned accidents of the motorcyclists and other commuters plying through the area.

He tirelessly directed attention of the government to the poor state of the culvert and would not kowtowed even with government visiting the spot for an assessment when the call was loud and clear until the culvert was rehabilitated for the convenient use of the people of the area.

Hospitality Career:

The CEO of Tojum Hospitality catapulted Sodiq to the stardom giving to his discovery and call-up to tourist activities in Ibarapa.

Inauguration of tourism club in Ibarapa region in the late 2019 marked a turning point in his life and career as an hospitality guru. Azeez sodiq has lent his name in the success of his dream with a view to promoting tourist and historical sites, exploring and hiking hills to project them to the world view.

Sodiq became one of the consultants of Ibarapa Tourism Agenda, making efforts to complement that of the Initiator to invigorate the initiative.

He has been relevant for the development of all attraction centres in Ibarapa and their promotion to the attraction of travel experts and explorers.

In January 2020, he was part of the Tourism Club Members that led over 1000 tourists and tourism stakeholders to the tourist sites in Ibarapa on inaugural tour.

With his unflinching love for the community, he had, subsequently led groups of tourist on special tours to the hills in Ibarapa zone on many occasions.

Adesina was the key tour guides in August 2020 that ushered delegation from Oyo State Ministry of Information, Tourism and Culture that came on Governor Seyi Makinde's order to conduct audiovisual documentation of the tourist sites in Ibarapa to profile them on the digital website building of tourist and historical sites in Oyo state.

Azeez sodiq led thousand of tourists across Nigeria including Hon commissioner for Tourism, Oyo State Tourism board, tour operators and many important personalities on World Tourism Day in September 2020.

Following the rebranding of Heritage Resorts Igboora in July 2020, Azeez Sodiq became the Operation Manager.

Political Career:

Azeez Sodiq Adesina has over the years made a name for himself over the years in politics of Ibarapa region of Oyo State, precisely in his Ibarapa Central and North constituency where had participated in various electoral exercise since 2005.

Taking to mind the cognisance of direct relationship of politics, governance and human affairs, Azeez Sodiq Adesina, at a tender age, joined a league of conscientious youths in holding political leaders across Ibarapa region accountable through community activism and public awareness of the role of youths in the development of the society.

Adesina did not join active politics until 2018 when the CEO of Heritage Resorts, Hon. Ademola Ojo emerged as one of the leading candidates for House of Representatives in Ibarapa Central and North constituency in the 2019 general elections.

He supported his employer with all his might, canvassed votes online and offline and was known for his unflagging loyalty to the cause and which Hon. Ademola Ojo lost eventually at the poll.

Azeez Sodiq appeared to not have had any axe to grind in the subsequent elections until he threw his weight behind Hon. Adeleke Olusola (Solar) who was the Chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2024 Oyo State Local Government Elections.

De Culture was on the streets mobilising youths and intimating people with the agenda of Solar, convincing them of his unadulterated readiness to breathing life to the local government of Ibarapa Central.

The election was held on April 27th, 2024 and Hon. Olusola Adeleke won on a landslide victory and the first appointments he made after his inauguration at the Governor's Office few weeks later included the appointment of Azeez Sodiq Adesina as the Personal Assistant.

Azeez Sodiq's appointment was greeted with public frenzy, with many describing it as a call-up of a man with understanding of people's plight and tactics of addressing the long-standing challenges threatening the life and growth of the people.

BMU Boss, Prof. Afonja, and Other Dignitaries Gather in Ibarapa for WASFOD Affairs '24

In a grand celebration, notable figures from various sectors attended the WASFOD Affairs '24 event to honor the union of Oke Wasiu Ayinde (Pattern) and Fodhilat Adebola.

Held on May 26th, 2024, at Ansarul Deen Primary School in Ayete/Tapa, the event saw attendance from family, friends, political associates, and well-wishers from across Nigeria.

The ceremony was presided over by Hon. Usman Olorunwa, represented by his father, Alhaji Usman Mayeloye of Ayete. Distinguished guests included former Oyo State Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Prof. Abdulrahman Afonja, Dr. Gbade Akinteye and staff from Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic.

In his welcome address, Dr. Akinteye, Acting Rector, Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, advised the couple on the importance of tolerance and divine guidance in their marriage, while also commending the groom’s character. The guest lecturer emphasized the husband's role as a leader, urging him to set a positive example for his wife.

Alhaji Usman Mayeloye of Ayete Land offered prayers and advice, stressing the importance of commitment and sincerity in building a successful marriage.

A heartfelt appreciation to Prof. Abdulrahman Afonja, former Oyo State Commissioner for Works, for gracing the event with his presence. His support and timely arrival were greatly appreciated, adding significant value to the occasion.

The groom expressed heartfelt gratitude to all attendees for their support and presence.
