Musical riddle of the day:

Here's one for Music historians:

I'm a band that's hot and sweet,
My name is a treat to repeat.
I'm not a person, but a group,
My music makes you wanna jump and swoop!

What am I?

Clue: They were a musical group in the 60s and 70s....

Coldplay

Coldplay was formed in 1998 at University College, London, with Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland ¹. The band was later filled out with fellow students Guy Berryman on bass and Will Champion, a guitarist who later switched to drums ¹. Coldplay’s full-length debut album, "Parachutes," was released in 2000 and sold millions on the strength of Martin’s vocals and such singles as the bittersweet “Yellow” ¹. "Parachutes" earned the band its first Grammy Award for best alternative album and paved the way for the more ambitious "A Rush of Blood to the Head" in 2002 ¹. The latter album earned the group two more Grammy Awards, and singles such as “Clocks” helped drive the band’s total album sales over the 20 million mark ¹.

BECOMING A VOCALIST SERIES...
Part 1.

Here are some tips for maintaining healthy vocals for singers:

1. Hydrate: Drink plenty of water (at least 8-10 glasses a day) to keep your vocal cords hydrated and lubricated.

2. Warm up and cool down: Start with vocal exercises to warm up your voice before singing, and cool down with gentle humming or lip trills after singing.

3. Breathing exercises: Practice deep breathing exercises to expand your lung capacity and control your breath.

4. Vocal rest: Give your voice regular breaks and avoid excessive talking or singing, especially when you're tired.

5. Avoid straining: Sing within your comfortable range and avoid pushing your voice too hard, as this can cause strain and damage.

6. Stay healthy: Get enough sleep, exercise regularly, and maintain a balanced diet to keep your overall health and vocal health in top shape.

7. Avoid screaming or shouting: Try to avoid loud, harsh sounds that can put strain on your vocal cords.

8. Use good posture: Maintain good posture when singing to allow for optimal breathing and vocal production.

9. Seek professional help: Consult a vocal coach or speech therapist to help you develop good vocal habits and address any vocal issues.

10. Stay relaxed: Try to relax your throat, jaw, and tongue when singing, as tension can cause vocal strain.

Remember, taking care of your voice is an ongoing process, and consistent practice and self-care will help you maintain healthy, strong vocals.

Here are five tips for achieving glowing skin:

1. Hydrate from the inside out: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated and plump. Aim for at least 8 cups (64 ounces) of water daily.

2. Exfoliate regularly: Remove dead skin cells and unclog pores by exfoliating 1-3 times a week, depending on your skin type. Use a gentle exfoliating scrub or a chemical exfoliant containing alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs).

3. Use a nourishing skincare routine: Cleanse your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser, followed by a toner and a moisturizer suitable for your skin type. Look for products containing active ingredients like vitamin C, retinol, or niacinamide.

4. Protect your skin from the sun: UV rays can cause premature aging and dark spots. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily, even on cloudy days, and reapply every 2 hours or immediately after swimming or sweating.

5. Get enough sleep: Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep each night to help your skin regenerate and repair itself. Poor sleep can lead to puffy, dull-looking skin.

Remember, consistency and patience are key! Give your skin time to respond to these tips, and don't hesitate to consult a dermatologist if you have specific skin concerns.
