BCOS NUJ CONGRATULATES DOTUN OLAITAN ON APPOINTMENT AS BCOS CHAIRPERSON...PROMISES TO COOPERATE WITH HER TO TRANSFORM THE CORPORATION

THE BCOS Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,has sent a congratulatory message to Mrs Dotun Olaitan as the Chairperson of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State.

In a statement issued and signed by the Chairman of BCOS NUJ,Dupe Fehintola the union congratulates Mrs Olaitan who was a former Secretary of NAWOJ in Oyo state on her historic appointment as the first female Chairperson of BCOS.

BCOS NUJ says it is happy that one of them who is a professional journalist and who had served as a unionist in various capacities both at local and state and national levels has been recognized and appointed to this exalted position of BCOS CHAIRPERSON

The union says against these rich antecedents and the fact that she served as a member on the last board, it believes that Mrs Olaitan will bring these immense wealth of experience to bear on the discharge of her duties as BCOS Chairperson.

It also expresses the belief that she will key in to the sustainable accelerated development vision of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State,Engineer Seyi Makinde under OMITUNTUN 2.0 by to turn around and transform the state-owned broadcast outfit.

According to the BCOS NUJ, the task ahead is daunting but not insurmountable.

The BCOS NUJ promises to cooperate with the board to restore the Corporation and make it to compete favourably with
leading stations across the country all in an effort to ensure smooth flow of information between the government and the good people of our dear state .

LAGOS POLL: NUJ BERATES ATTACK ON BCOS CREW, CHARGES INEC, POLICE ON INVESTIGATION

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo state, BCOS Chapel has condemned in strong terms Saturday attack on the Corporation’s crew deployed to monitor the governorship and house of Assembly elections in Lagos State.

The BCOS news crew members comprising the Reporter Lekan Shobowale, the cameraman, Folorunso Abiala and the driver Ope Adegoke were assaulted and their equipment damaged by hoodlums led by a woman at Onigbongbo area of the state on Saturday.

In a statement obtained signed by the BCOS NUJ Chairman, Dupe Fehintola and Secretary, Olamiposi Ishola, the union observed that the assault was a misdirected one as the crew was carrying out its responsibility of monitoring and covering the election when the hoodlums pounced on the members.

The BCOS NUJ wonders how its members would be target of attacks adding that it was obvious the thugs had something to hide during the election which was supposed to be a transparent and open exercise.

While calling for a thourough investigation into the incident by the Independent National Electoral Commission,the Lagos State government and the Nigeria police with a view to preventing a recurrence, the BCOS NUJ says its members will continue to carry out of its surveillance role to restore values and standards in all areas and sectors.

It however commended some good samaritans and security operatives who quickly came to the rescue of the helpless BCOS news team and helped them to a safe distance.
