SPEAKING AGAINST FALSEHOOD IS NOT DIVIDING THE BODY OF CHRIST
In the age of social media, where information spreads like wildfire, there's a noticeable surge in discussions about who qualifies as a true Man of God. It's essential to tread carefully in this realm, recognizing that discernment doesn't solely arise from external sources like the media but, more importantly, from the Word of God itself – a divine and unerring guide for all believers.
The rise of controversy often stems from the clash between those who claim to be prophets and the discerning eyes seeking authenticity. It's crucial to remember that the Word of God is the ultimate source of prophecy, surpassing any prophetic utterance or apparent sharpness from self-proclaimed prophets.
Identifying true shepherds from wolves is a recurring theme in the Bible, echoed by Jesus' warning about false prophets seeking to devour the sheep. Their characteristics are unmistakable – selling holy water, anointing oil, and prioritizing personal gain over genuine spiritual growth. These false prophets often revel in the aftermath of powerful ministrations, neglecting the primary goal of leading souls to salvation through altar calls.
Furthermore, they operate in groups and gangs, quick to defend themselves when their falsehood is exposed in the public eye. Their lack of roots and origin is glaring – appearing out of nowhere with no spiritual father, discipler, mentor, or guide. This absence of foundational support raises serious questions about the authenticity of their calling.
Taking inspiration from the boldness of Paul, who fearlessly mentioned names like Hymaneus and Philetus while warning disciples against them, we should not shy away from exposing falsehood in the name of God. Speaking out against deceptive practices is not an attack on the prophetic but a defense of the genuine message of Christ.
The Bible itself cautions against deception, reminding us that "he who practices righteousness is righteous." It's a call for believers to be vigilant, discerning between true shepherds and those masquerading as such. When confronted with uncomfortable truths, it's important to reflect on one's own beliefs and actions rather than becoming defensive.
In conclusion, the intention behind addressing falsehood is not to attack the prophetic but to safeguard the purity of the message and protect believers from the influence of false prophets. If this message offends, it is a call to introspection rather than a directive to engage in contention. As believers, our allegiance is first and foremost to the Word of God, the ultimate source of discernment.
