GOMBE STATE AND US TRAVEL ADVISORY AND THE INVESTMENT FORUM IN NOVEMBER!

I have no doubt in my mind that Governor Inuwa Yahaya has good intentions and initiatives for the people of Gombe State, but I am sometimes worried about the quality of advise he is getting and from who? It may also be that he is the only one thinking. But as a leader he needs our help from anywhere it will come.

GIYU was in far away in between United States and Canada holding meetings and promoting his Government initiatives and projects, while these were on those handling our investment portfolio are busy promoting the convocation of yet another investment Forum in November. I always have a problem with the way we are promoting investments in Gombe State. I expressed my position after the first one. Anyway this is a debate for another day or time.

It is worrisome and disturbing that the handlers of our Government in Gombe State and the overall image of the State were either preoccupied with other things or an oversight that I searched everywhere to see an official reaction or counter reaction from our State protesting the inclusion of Gombe State state by the UNITED STATES as one of the States on its TRAVEL ADVISORY. For goodness sake how come the US listed Gombe? I was really upset that even some States that are devastated by cultists, kidnapping, banditry were not listed but Gombe State was among the Travel Advisory.

Gombe State is safer to travel to than 70% of the 59 states in the United States. This is coming at a time that Gombe is hosting its 2nd Investment Summit in NOVEMBER as published. As I write not a single statement from Gombe State that I know of PROTESTING to the US EMBASSY or authorities about the misleading inclusion of Gombe State state in its TRAVEL ADVISORY.

The security agencies and Government in Gombe State are doing their best to secure our people and I can say without equivocation that we are safer than many States in Nigeria. It is therefore necessary that the handlers of our Government and the Media and Public Relations apparatus of Government to be unleashed to counter the position of the misleading information that characterised our security situation in Gombe State.

The investment Forum will be in jeopardy if the true position of security in the State is not addressed especially in the Media and also by way of sending a formal written report to the UNITED STATES EMBASSY. IN ABUJA and the Department of African Affairs of the State Department. I am sure they will listen.

Sometimes intelligence may not be 100% credible and the sources may not be 100% usually reliable. Hence whatever the source of intelligence used in listing Gombe is not sacrosanct.
