The 11th commandment of ‘The People's Charter of Needs’ is the provision of Alternative Power for various uses in the State.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, is today, employing the services of solar energy for the provision of lights along streets and roads in Ebonyi State.

Before now, the State had generators at strategic points, powering these street lights. As such, keeping the street lights on required huge quantity of diesel on monthly basis.

In order to cut costs in governance, while providing top quality service to the people, the Governor has ticked off one of his promises in his manifesto which reads, ‘Deployment of alternate power supply to power street and traffic lights and other uses.

The following areas have been replaced with solar lights within the State:

- Onuebonyi to Ezzamgbo
- The 3 Ebonyi State University campuses
- Ishieke to Onuebonyi via Mile 50
- Uga street
- Mbieri street
- Nsugbe street
- New Layout
- Watchman area
- Awolowo street
- Aguiyi Ironsi street

More streets and roads will be converted to solar lights in due course.

The Honourable member representing Abakaliki/Izzi federal constituency, Chief hon.Emmanuel Uguru(Agbaraike Izhi) made the above assertion yesterday during the APC wards and LGA chapter Executive meeting Monday 8th April ,2023 at Abakaliki council Headquarters Nkaliki.He passed vote of confidence on the party Exco at all levels and pray them to continue to uplift all that is good about the progressive movement of APC.He advocated for constant interfacing between the party Exco and those people elected on the party platform to avoid unhealthy rumours and suspicion.He noted that the constitution of the party gave room for inclusivity, fairness and equity.

The law maker, use the opportunity to highlights some of his achievements so far.He equally intimated the leadership of the party of his *scholarship* *scheme* that have captured up to 20 indigents but intelligent students from all the communities in Abakaliki/Izzi federal constituency and other special interest.He stated that special considerations will be given to students pursuing professional courses like Law, medicine and Engineering.He made known to the general Assembly his massive empowerment programmes that will lift many people out of poverty in the federal constituency.He stated that plan are at advance stage to kick+off the PROGRAMME.

Agbaraike Izhi, promised to pay the LGA party secretariat for 2 years and reiterated his commitment to the party and stated that a new dawn is coming to the federal constituency and that he is poised to usher in real politics of development in Abakaliki/Izzi federal constituency.

On the house plenary of Wednesday, 1st Nov., 2023, the MHR, Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, *Hon. Chief Emmanuel Uguru (Agbarike Izhi),* presented, before the Hon. House, a petition from a Lawyer against the unlawful arrest and detention of Last Corporal Ofoke Emmanuel Chidiebere (Ochi-war) of Amegu Community in Abakaliki L.G.A who was arrested on the 25th day of February, 2023.

The petition sought to know why the Nigerian Army, since his arrest has not done anything in terms of been released, charged to conventional court or court marshalled.

NEW MONTH MESSAGE

My good people of Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, I heartily rejoice with you for making it to the eleventh Month of the year, 2023. It is, indeed, a testimony of the Lord's faithfulness upon our lives and our firm grit to continue in the race of life.

While I use the opportunity to thank you again for your supports so far, let me restate my unwavering commitment and determination to ensuring effective representation at the green chamber of the National Assembly.

Among other commitments we have made after our inauguration into the 10th National Assembly, we have also appointed a Liaison Officer in each of the 28 Wards of the Constituency and we are very hopeful that these group of Appointees will move beyond measures to the favour of our Constituency and APC at large.

Soon, we shall launch our Constituency Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme, Youths empowerment and other planned programmes which gear towards alleviating the sufferings of my constituents. Notwithstanding all these, frantic efforts are on ground to ensure that our youths are gainfully employed and that, when done, will clearly redefine my interest in Human Capital Development.

As we step out for our legitimate activities for the month, we owe ourselves the duty of praying for one another even as we expect better days ahead.

Gday my pple in the village. I hv bn briefed of the unfortunate/ ugly incident at home past few days. Remember that when ur in grief, we are equally as badly affected bcs no matter where one is, home still remains the best. I sympathize with the community, the village, the bereaved family members, & indeed the youths of my once very peaceful village, same way l also condole myself on the avoidable incident that led to the brutal killing of Sam Okemini & other wld hv bn highly promising youthful youths of our land. While l call for calm in the area to allow the law enforcement agencies, the village heads & the Eze of our community in council, to ensure that peace returns. I will further plead with all & sundry to desist from actions & inactions/utterances that will be inimical to the overall positive interest of the village/community, of attaining an egalitarian society devoid of rancor & crises, without which the infrastructural & human capital development wr craving for the improvement of our lot will elude us, God forbid. Once more, on behalf of my family & constituents, accept my heartfelt condolences & pray that God averts any such further embracement of loss of lives & property. Whatever we can to restore peace, l will not hesitate, distance notwithstanding. I come in peace.

SENATE CONFIRMS SENATOR PETER ONYEKACHI NWEBONYI DEPUTY CHIEF WHIP OF THE TENTH SENATE

The Distinguished Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Chief Barrister Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi has been confirmed the Deputy Chief Whip of the tenth Senate.

At the Senate plenary today,18th October 2023, the Senate unanimously adopted the youngest Senator and Golden voice, East of the Niger, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi to step in to the leadership structure of the Nigerian Senate.

By this development, Senator Nwebonyi becomes the third Senator from Ebonyi State to occupy principal position in the Senate, after Their Excellencies, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim ,Former Senate President and Engineer Senator David Nweze Umahi,immediate past Deputy Leader of the Senate.

This new feather is as the result of Senator Nwebonyi's vibrancy, capacity, efficiency and effectiveness in the plenary and other activities of the Senate.

The people of Ebonyi North Senatorial District and Ebonyi State at large are lucky to have in Senator Nwebonyi, a representative, they prayed for,worked for and massively voted for.

Izhi Nnodo Youths' Forum Celebrates three Council Chairmen of Izzi extraction (Abakaliki, Izzi and Ebonyi L.G.As).

Speaking during the event held today, the 15th day of Oct., 2023, at the Ebonyi State International Conference Centre, Abakaliki, the National President of the Forum, Comrd. Ben Nwovu, said it became necessary to celebrate the men who had distinguished themselves in their 100 days in office as Council Chairmen. Comrd. Nwovu pointed out that their emergence as Chairmen had contributed meaningfully in the lives of our people, unleashing heavy dividends of democracy to the youths of the clan. He expressed an unalloyed gratitude to His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Blder Francis Nwifuru, for his youth friendly gesture.

Amidst other great sons of Izhi Clan, the MHR, Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, Hon. Chief Emmanuel Uguru JP (Agbarike Izhi), attended the function in line with his love for the people and the forum in particular which he is the Grand Patron.

Nigerians Can Now Travel To UAE

President Tinubu secures landmark deal with UAE, Visa ban on Nigerian travellers lifted immediately

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Monday in Abu Dhabi, have finalized a historic agreement, which has resulted in the immediate cessation of the visa ban placed on Nigerian travelers.

Furthermore, by this historic agreement, both Etihad Airlines and Emirates Airlines are to immediately resume flight schedules into and out of Nigeria, without any further delay.

As negotiated between the two Heads of State, this immediate restoration of flight activity, through these two airlines and between the two countries, does not involve any immediate payment by the Nigerian government.

In recognition of President Tinubu's economic development diplomacy drive and proposals today presented by President Tinubu to his counterpart, an agreed framework has been established, which will involve several billions of U.S. dollars worth of new investments into the Nigerian economy across multiple sectors, including defense, agriculture and others, by the investment arms of the Government of the United Arab Emirates.

Additionally, President Tinubu is pleased to have successfully negotiated a joint, new foreign exchange liquidity programme between the two Governments, which will be announced in detail in the coming weeks.

In conclusion, the President wishes to commend the UAE President, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for his unalloyed friendship and his determined effort to join hands with him to fully normalize and reset to excellence, the standard of relations between the two important countries.

EBONYI STATE BUILDING MATERIALS INDUSTRY RECEIVES NEW LIFE

His Excellency, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has approved the revitalization of Ebonyi State Building Materials Industry, Ezzamgbo.

The Building Materials Industry will be a point for the production of interlocks, electric poles, blocks (including bricks) and other building materials.

The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry Oguzorkanu Offia-Nwali who is in charge of this project, confirmed that funds have been released in that regard and clearing of the site is ongoing. Automated machines and other technical equipment will be procured to ensure optimal productivity of the industry.

Again, the Governor is taking concrete steps to actualize his promise of industrializing the State, supporting the upsurge of companies and promotion of manufacturing of basic consumables for the people, within the realities of demand.

Well done again, Your Excellency for another great move. It is clear to the blind that this will create more job opportunities, inject more life into our economy and of course, put better food on the tables of Ebonyi people.

The member representing Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, *Chief Hon. Emmanuel Uguru JP (Agbarike Izhi),* earlier today, 17th August, 2023, commiserated with the family of Nkwuda Okpua of Ndiogbu, Ndieze Community, Izzi L.G.A of Ebonyi State, on the loss of their son, Ozoemena Nkwuda, who was shot by unknown gunmen during the last February Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Chief Uguru while addressing members of the family said, although no amount of words could fill the deep gap created by the loss of Ozoemena, the outpouring supports by friends and associates had sent an indelible signal of how good the deceased lived his life while on earth.

Chief Uguru who donated a huge but undisclosed amount of money and other items in support of the family prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the departed and also for God's blessings, comfort and protection upon the family.

In their responses, the elder brother of the deceased, Mr. Romanus Nkwuda and the village head, Mr. Vincent Nwigube, appreciated Chief Uguru for his kind gesture which, according to them, had been the first from the people they voted in the elections. They prayed for God's supplications and blessings upon him.

Chief Uguru was Accompanied by the former Coordinator of Izzi D/C, Hon. Pascal Obiya; Fmr Attorney General of Ebonyi State, Hon. Vincent Nwokpor; SSA to the Governor on Agriculture, Hon. *SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO GOVERNOR ON PRIMARY HEALTH CARE, DR SABINUS NWIBO BEGINS THE RENOVATION AND REHABILITATION OF THE STATE'S IMMUNIZATION COLD ROOMS WHERE VACCINES ARE STORED, SETS TO BEGIN ANOTHER ROUND OF VACCINATION ACROSS THE STATE*

Recall that Dr. Nwibo was appointed by His Excellency to officiate in his governance as the Special Adviser to him on Primary Health Care.
In the bid to fulfil his official task and register further the readiness of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ogbonna Nwifuru in bringing health care down to door step, Dr. Sabinus Nwibo has vowed to prioritize once more the health of Ebonyians through a statewide supplementary immunization exercise. According to him, the exercise is lated to hold soon and will cut edges, throw Ebonyians into protective net and preemptively promote good health plans admonished by the present Government. Dr. Nwibo disclosed this keen gesture after his official tour to inspect health facility centres and repairing dilapidated once in various locations in Ebonyi.

In furtherance, Dr. Nwibo urged Ebonyians to demean actions that could trigger unhealthy environment and embrace government's effort and munificence towards providing quality health care for the people especially when it is provided free. He however pleaded to Ebonyians to ensure full participation during the exercise and stay away from unhealthy practices that is least of professional ethics of healthy living.

Dr. Nwibo alleged that lack of due immunization has heighten children's death toll in the state and declared that aftermath of this intervention, zero child mortality will be recorded. He affirmed that the new administration admirably piloted by a seasoned leader is committed into adopting better policies that can restore the wellbeing of Ebonyians and will do everything possible to restore normalcy in health system to the benefit of Ebonyians.

GOVERNOR NWIFURU APPROVES OUTSTANDING SEVERANCE ALLOWANCES TO FORMER STATE LAW MAKERS.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has approved the release of outstanding severance allowances to former members of the State House of Assembly, amounting to N16m.

Nwifuru gave the approval Thursday during a courtesy visit on him by the Forum of Former State Legislators in his office, Centenary City, Abakaliki.

The Governor observed that the legislature has enormous powers but has failed to utilize the powers to favour itself in terms of life after office.

He regretted that while Governors judges, permanent secretaries, among others, leave office with enormous entitlements, legislators leave with nothing.

He urged legislators in general to rise to the challenges of quality and effective law making without antagonizing other arms of government nor compromising their rights and responsibilities.

While expressing happiness that the forum has remained united in spite of some.

*Agbarike Izhi: ...always first in everything, first in the Tribunal and first in the Appeal coming out victoriously.*

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has, today, the 28th day of July, 2023 dismissed the appeal filed by the House of Reps Labour Party Candidate in the last National Assembly Election, Eze Emmanuel Eze (Immaculate) against *Chief Hon. Emmanuel Uguru -JP (Agbarike Izhi)* who is currently representing Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives through his victory in the February, 2023 National Assembly Election.

The proceedings/judgement presided over by the Presiding Justice, *Hon. Justice Abundaga,* held and affirmed the findings, judgement and the recommendations of the Court of first instance and dismissed the Appeal for *Lack of Merit* in favour of *Agbarike Izhi,* the man of all people.

Recall that the Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja had earlier last month dismissed the petition filed by the same Appellant against the same Respondent.

With this Judgement, the Petitioner can now go and rest, leaving the rightful winner, Agbarike Izhi Worldwide, to concentrate on the good work he is doing for his people.

Ahead of the Council Meeting, the hallowed chambers of the State Executive Council stood still in honour of one of our own, a record breaker, MC Walter Chukwuemeka for emerging the latest Guinness World record holder for his 130 hours non-stop entertainment marathon. The state government gifted him a brand new Toyota Fortuner SUV amongst other incentives as a way of encouraging other talented Ebonyians to pursue their dreams.

Afterwards, the Ebonyi State Executive Council chaired by our dear youthful, energetic and workaholic Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru met yesterday and deliberated on a wide range of issues covering many sectors and resolved as follows;

1. AGRICULTURE.
The Executive Council received a report on the commencement of fertilizer production by the Ebonyi State Fertilizer and Chemical Company in accordance with the directive of the last Exco meeting and consequently approved the procurement and distribution of Thirteen Thousand (13,000) bags of fertilizers to farmers across the state.

2. POWER AND ENERGY.
On the repair of 33 units of transformers for redeployment into the electricity network across the state, Council resolved to direct the Honourable Commissioner for Power and Energy to consult with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC with a view to arriving at a mutually beneficial agreement with the state government before returning to the next Exco with the memo for possible consideration.

3. COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY.
Council approved the reactivation of fund for Small and Medium Scale Industries Credit Scheme with an initial capital of Fifty Million Naira only. Exco also approved the constitution of a Recovery Committee to ensure repayment by beneficiaries so as to guarantee the sustanance of the scheme.

4. SOLID MINERALS.
Exco granted approval to the Ministry of Solid Minerals to initiate the process of establishing a Lead and Zinc Processing Plant alongside a Buying Center in Abakaliki

The assumption of office by *Chief Hon. Emmanuel Uguru -JP (Agbarike Izhi)* as a House of Reps Member representing Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency has continued to garner more supports and attestation of his readiness to deliver on the mandate reposed in him.

Earlier today, the 26th day of July, 2023, he received in his office, the leadership of Izzi General Assembly resident in Abuja who were on courtesy to congratulate him on his election victory and assumption of office.

The Assembly, through their leader, Mr. Vincent O. Ibina, said the emergence of Chief Emmanuel Uguru as dear Representative is a "new hope" made alive that the constituency would, once again, have a breathe of quality and effective representation; attracting Federal Government presence into the area.

In a response, the Member Representing Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Emmanuel Uguru appreciated them for the visit which he said was timely especially as Ojiji Izhi festival draws nearer. Chief Uguru who also commended the leadership and members of the Assembly for incorporating the spirit of togetherness in themselves urged them to continue in that manner as they could only stand stronger as a people when they are together.

They Assembly used the opportunity, through it's Ojiji Central Planning Committee Chairman and Secretary, Mr. Chukwuma Nwojiji and Mr. Peter Nwiboko Temple respectively, to intimate Chief Uguru with the arrangement on ground for the celebration of this year's Ojiji festival coming up by September in Abuja in commemoration of the mother Ojiji festival which would be done next month, August.

The visit featured, presentation of Portrait to Chief Emmanuel Uguru by the Assembly and lots more.

Igwe Hails MC Walter Ebonyi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftency Matters, Hon Stephen Uchenna Igwe has joined other well meaning Ebonyians to praise the courage, determination and perseverance of Ebonyi State born entertainer, Mr Chukwuemeka Nwota popularly known as MC Walter for achieving the feat of 130-hours Marathon-Entertainment in the World Guinness Book of Record. Hon. Igwe while congratulating the record breaker said he has demostrated the true spirit of Ebonyi man who out of resilience achieves the impossible in the eyes of many.
