I visited Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, yesterday, (Friday, 13th May, 2022) to felicitate with him and also as part of the wider consultations with critical stakeholders in search of lasting peace and security in the South East.

He was in very high spirits and we had quality and frank discussion in a very convivial atmosphere. He expressed sadness over what he described as “sacrilegious killings” of innocent persons, kidnappings and all forms of criminalities, including the brutal enforcement of the senseless “sit at home” perpetuated by sundry groups claiming to be acting for or on behalf of IPOB. He assured that if the opportunity arises, he will be glad to personally broadcast to his followers to maintain the peace.

Together, we shall restore peace, security and prosperity in Anambra and the Southeast.

Muslims burn Christian student for alleged blasphemy in Sokoto

A Muslim mob set fire to a Christian student for what they believed to be blasphemy against the Islamic prophet Muhammad.

The hoodlums who chanted 'Allahu Akbar' stoned and burned the student from Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State, northwest Nigeria.

The victim identified as Deborah was lynched and set on fire when she entered the school premises on Thursday morning.

Eyewitnesses said Deborah was charged with blasphemy after sending a voice note on a student WhatsApp platform condemning the sharing of religious messages on the platform designated for homework and school tests.

In the voice note, Deborah insisted that sharing religious messages on the school's WhatsApp platform is not appropriate.

Videos circulating on social media show young Muslims who took part in Deborah's murder, bragging and threatening to murder non-Muslims.

Meanwhile, in a circular, the authority of Shehu Shagari College of Education ordered the immediate closure of the school and asked all students to leave the campus.

No arrests are made for the brutal murder.

My Life At Risk For Sharing Same Detention Facility With IPOB Members, Terrorists - Suspended Abba Kyari

Suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari says he is not safe being in detention with members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN), who he described as criminals.

Kyari disclosed this through his lawyer, Nureini Jimoh, while asking the Federal High Court in Abuja to review his bail application initially rejected.

According to the documents which contained details of the suspended police officer’s argument, his life is at risk for sharing the same correctional facility with criminals that he put in jail, including IPOB/ESN members and terrorists.

“At the centre, the applicants who were head and deputy head of the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force met stiff resistance, attack and open threats to the lives of the applicants by series head (sic) of criminal gang that they had busted.

“There is no correctional centre that the criminals that have been arrested by the IRT under the headship of the applicant in furtherance of their constitutional and statutory duties as police officers cannot be found and there is a high likelihood of threat to the lives of the applicants.”

This is not the first time Kyari would be attacking IPOB over his travails.

3. At which location, community or city where they intercepted and killed
4. Who are their families, what are the names of the Bride and Groom.
5. They must have printed their wedding cards, for which ever wedding. So there must be a Church for the wedding and the name(s) of their officiating ministers or pastors.

All these information can easily be provided and can easily verified, since the couples must have been human beings and not ghosts. And the members of their families, friends and well wishers must be able to verify their stories.

Whenever Fulani threaten Igbos with war, I laugh because Fulani has never fought a war with Igbos.

The only tribe Fulani can threaten in Nigeria is only Hausa because they conquered them through Jihad.

Biafra: Buhari Told To Release Nnamdi Kanu Immediately, Stop Destruction Of South-East

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, on Sunday, said President Muhammadu Buhari and his administration must release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu forthwith, and stop “long term destruction of the South-East”.

HURIWA, in a statement by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, said the “abduction” and perennial detention of Kanu since he was brought back to Nigeria in June 2021 were illegal and inconsistent with international human rights practices.

HURIWA dismissed the verdict of Justice Binta Nyako, which it said offends international law and international human rights law.

The rights group said since Kenya denied any involvement in the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu in its jurisdiction, his abduction remained irregular and illegal “because if a judge sees White and tries to call it Black, it is in the self enlightened interests of the citizens to opposed an unjust verdict of a court.”

Onwubiko said, “Despite the extreme and heightened state of insecurity in the South-East, President Muhammadu Buhari has been nonchalant and unresponsive to popular and legal opinion on how to deflate worsening situation.

If we may ask, what has become of the negotiations initiated by some WISE MEN FROM THE EAST, including a 90-year-old first Republic minister of Aviation of Igbo extraction, who risked it all to fly into Abuja to plead with Buhari on behalf of Nnamdi Kanu?

“We don’t want to believe that although Muhammadu Buhari respects Fulani Emirs, he has no respect for Elders from the Igbo speaking South East of Nigeria so much so that he deceived them or so it seemed, to hope that Nnamdi Kanu will receive immediate reprieve only to realise that the President may have played a fast one on respected Elders and statesmen only because they are not Fulanis?

His nepotistic appointment of heads of internal security like Customs, Immigration, Police, Civil Defence and if course his persistent appointment of Muslims to head the Department of State Services and National Intelligence Agency is responsible for the scale of smuggling of sophisticated weapons into Nigeria from northern flanks of the country.

“On IPOB and the South East, criminal elements are using Nnamdi Kanu as a reason for upgrading their attacks on security assets and citizens of South-East and there is the need for the President to work out a political solution to the illegal detention of Kanu. HURIWA calls on security forces to up their game and adopt law-based Professional style to arrest the real perpetrators of violence in the South East and stop arresting Igbo youths arbitrarily.

HURIWA calls for the (conditional or otherwise) release of Nnamdi Kanu because what he is being charged for is not anywhere near terrorism. Kanu has never being caught with guns nor has he ever killed anyone. His advocacy using Biafran radio can only at best be termed spreading defamation but not terrorism and defamation is civil not criminal.

“Kanu must be released except President Muhammadu Buhari plans for a long term destruction of South East in anger over his allegation that Igbos did not vote for him.”

In another development, HURIWA said the procurement of weapons was not the issue in fighting the nation’s security challenges but the willingness of the President and security chiefs to non-sentimentally destroy terrorists’ and bandits’ groups in their camps.

Remembering Prof. Chinua Achebe

Chinua Achebe was a Novelist, Poet, and Critic.

He hailed from Ogidi in Anambra State.

He is a dominant figure in modern African literature.

He is referred to as the "father of African literature".

He is the highest selling African author of all time.

His first novel and magnum opus, Things Fall Apart (1958), occupies a pivotal place in African literature and remains the most widely studied, translated and read African novel.

Things Fall Apart was translated to over 60 languages and sold over 20 million copies.

Along with Things Fall Apart, his No Longer at Ease (1960) and Arrow of God (1964) complete the "African Trilogy"; later novels include A Man of the People (1966) and Anthills of the Savannah (1987).

His last published book was "There was a Country", a history of Biafra, and it was released in October 2012, few months before he died.

He died on This day in 2013 in Boston Massachusetts.
