Governor Peter Mbah Threatens to Revoke Traders' License - maintains he has provided enough security to ensure their safety

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu has threatened to withdraw the licenses and shops of traders who observe the sit-at-home order of a factional Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) groups.

Mbah who toured various parts of the state capital on Monday, July 17, to monitor the level of compliance with his ban on the order, stated that the sit-at-home order has restricted creativity, entrepreneurship, and productivity in the state.

The Governor also threatened to close any school, market, and financial institutions, among others, that obey the order. He noted that adequate security has been provided and there has not been any incident of attack since the ban on sit-at-home in June.

Mbah said;

“It should never be heard that we were cowed because of the threat of violence by these criminals.

“The poverty that will befall us for sitting at home will kill us even faster. We are losing over N10 billion every Monday that we sit at home. Enough is enough. This foolishness must end and it must end now. We cannot be marginalising ourselves and still complain of marginalisation.

“So, we must say no to sit-at-home because what it means is that we are destroying our employment, our economy, and our GDP.”

Petrol now sells beyond N600 per litre across the country

The pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol which previously sold at N537 per litre, now costs N617 ($0.77) per litre at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited nationwide.

Independent oil marketers confirmed the increase in the cost of the commodity, as they maintained that the increase of NNPCL price shows that fuel price has increased.

President Bola Tinubu during his inauguration, on May 29th announced that he would remove subsidy on petrol, and this resulted in the increase of fuel pump price from N185 ($0.23) per litre to over N500 per litre, the following day.

Long queues resurfaced at filling stations this morning as people are also stranded because of this development.

Developing good skills in children prepares them for a lifetime of healthier interactions in all aspects of life.

The educated ones are not able to compete with their peers in the setting of low employment rates in Nigeria, with the labour market so uncertain and saturated. People looking for employment are not finding things easy.

Who have to compete with seasoned professionals for jobs that are simply not there?

So, what are parents doing is to equip their children to be successful in the future?

Some parents are doing this by encouraging them to acquire some skills on the side. The benefit is that these children will not have to depend solely on white-collar jobs that are non-existent in the future.
