Magnify the Lord
I wonder how David, who was hiding in a cave, trying to avoid capture from his son who wanted him dead, was able to rest in peace. David didn’t turn over to sleep until he turned over his problems to God. David began an honest prayer by telling God just how he felt about things. We, too, must be honest with God about what we are feeling. David laid it all out before the Lord, Who, What, When, Where, and How.

That’s where many of us might have stopped our prayers right there and gotten up. But David didn’t; he stayed on his knees until he also told God that he knew that He was able to deliver him out of all his troubles. That’s when the Bible says that David received sleep to Rest in Peace.

David encouraged himself in the Lord by magnifying the Lord. Magnification doesn’t make something bigger; it means making our view of what we are looking at bigger. Sometimes, it’s not that our problems are too big but that our view of God is too small. We need to magnify what the Lord can do. Lord, my problems are big, but you are bigger. Lord, my problems are scary, but you are fearless. Lord, I feel like I am in over my head, but I won’t worry because I know that everything has been placed under your feet. See how just reading this makes you feel at peace. Try it for yourself, magnify the Lord in your circumstances, and watch His peace get magnified in you.

Father God, we thank you that you are our peace. We magnify your name. In Jesus' name, amen

The Right Attitude
Having an attitude is not always a bad thing. You can have a bad attitude, or you can have a good one. But the best attitude to have is an attitude of gratitude. It will empower your faith and increase your peace.

Thinking thoughts of gratitude requires mindfulness. The more we are mindful of what God has already done for us, the more our faith and peace get increased. It also helps us store up faith and peace for future events.

Peace is a great complement to an attitude. The more at peace I am, the more peace I will receive. Matthew 5 tells us, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” We need to share peace with others.

Airplanes use what is called an attitude indicator, which tells whether they are advancing higher or declining lower in their movements. Peace is our attitude indicator. The more peace we have, the higher we will go. We can soar like the eagle on the wings of peace.

Peace reigns and rules in Heaven. We need a heaven mindset. That’s why our prayer is, "Lord, let it be done on earth just like it is in heaven." The right attitude will get us there. The more grateful we are, the more peace we will receive. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Peace is our bountiful harvest.

Dear Lord, help us to maintain the right attitude. We are your children, and we shall add peace wherever we go. In Jesus name, amen.

Day Twelve
"Love keeps no record of wrongs."

I once went into a fish and chip shop and asked for fish and chips. The lady behind the counter looked surprised and said, "Wait." She called the owner, who came and asked me what I wanted. I repeated, "Fish and chips, please." He said, "I will need to cook them." I felt like saying, "Of course you will need to cook them; that’s what fish and chip shops do."

As Christ followers, forgiveness is our business! It shouldn’t take us by surprise, even in the face of tough situations. Jesus Himself, tells us that if we are bringing our offering and remember we have a grievance against someone, we should go and put it right if possible. Even our prayers being answered is contingent on us walking in forgiveness.

Take a moment today and review your heart regarding forgiveness. Are there any outstanding hurts or grievances you still carry? Ask God for the grace today to let things go, to forgive, and, if possible, even to reconcile with others. Ask God that from this day forward, forgiveness will be your business.
