JUST IN: Court Sacks Tonye Cole as APC Governorship Candidate in Rivers.

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, on Thursday, disqualified the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, over dual citizenship.

Tonye Cole is said to be a citizen of the United Kingdom.

The court also ruled that the APC did not comply with the Electoral Act that brought in Cole as the candidate of the party.

The Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State had approached the court to direct the Independent National Electoral Commission not to recognize Tonye Cole as the governorship candidate of APC for alleged dual citizenship and that the the delegate election that brought him did not follow due process having not been monitored by INEC.

Justice Emmanuel Obile in his judgment agreed with the People’s Democratic Party that Tonye Cole is not eligible to contest governorship position.

He thereafter directed INEC to delist the name of Tonye Cole from the list of eligible candidates for the 2023 Governorship election.

Speaking to newsmen outside the courtroom, counsels to the PDP, D**e Udenna expressed happiness over the judgment which he said means that APC has no governorship candidate for the 2023 General election.

On his part, counsel to the APC, Collins D**e said the APC will challenge the judgement at the Court of Appeal.

He said the constitution of Nigeria allows him to contest the Governorship election having been born in Nigeria.

The lawyer said Tonye Cole “voluntarily acquired the citizenship of the United Kingdom” which does not prevent him taking part in the election.

2023: PDP G-5 Sheaths Sword, Makes New Demands

The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appears to be over after the leadership of the party reached a truce with the PDP G-5 governors.

Members of the PDP G-5 Governors, led by the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, have been at loggerheads with Atiku, after Wike failed to win the party’s presidential ticket.

Other members of the G-5 are: Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.

The G-5 were also unhappy that Atiku rejected Wike as running mate and are demanding the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu as party Chairman, allegedly to reduce dominance of the PDP by the North.

However, indications have emerged that former military head of state, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd) appears to have brought the crisis rocking the main opposition party to an end.

The parley which appeared to be fruitful saw the G-5 making fresh demands.

A party chieftain, who preferred anonymity, said the G5 have agreed to work for the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, if their fresh demands would be acceded to.

Their demands, according to to the reliable source, are: “That the top government offices should be shared among the six geo-political zones;

“That the security chiefs should be shared among all the geo-political zones and that all the party’s offices in the South should move to the North and vice versa if Atiku wins.”

Senatorial PDP Delegate Primary Election, 2022.

The Executive Chairman of Gokana LGA, Chief Hon. Confidence Nyima Deko and Hon. Dumle Maol Member representing Gokana state constituency in the RSHA were among other observers for the Delegate Election of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District held at Suanu Finimale Nwika Conference Centre in Khana LGA.

The Council Boss also had a chit chat with Distinguished Senator Barry Mpigi, The Senator Representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly who just won the primary delegate elections and Rt. Hon. Dumnamene Dekor, Member Representing Khana and Gokana Constituency in the Federal House of Representative.

Indeed the victory achieved from the just concluded Pdp delegate elections is a victory for all and that which will entrench our democratic system of Government.

Gokana Contingency Makes Rivers state People Proud in Sport.....

Gokana Contingency who were selected from the just concluded ALL SCHOOLS INTER-HOUSE SPORTS COMPETITION GOKANA, Sponsored by The Executive Chairman of Gokana LGA, Chief Hon. Confidence Nyima Deko met with the council boss after making Rivers state people proud in his office as they fully represent in the recent ODIBOLA GLOBAL SERVICES MINI MARATHON RACE in collaboration with Rivers state Ministry of Sports.

According to the Special Adviser on youth and sport to the council boss, Hon. Austin Awanen, the Marathon Race which was an international one hosted in Port Harcourt got Gokana Contingency, Nwika Barinua Queen taking 6th position for the girls and Doole Suanu taking 10th positions for the boys leading after their Kenyan counterpath who widely dominated the race that if it were to be a race for Rivers state or Nigerian alone they would have taken the overall best positions.

Gokana Council Boss, Chief Hon. Confidence Nyima Deko who keep pushing boundary and challenging the norms was very happy about the victory says his administrations will focus more on human capital development and sports also urges them never to relax that never can tell if they will make it in life with sports that they should always put in their best merging academics with sports. In preparing them for the future he wishes them well and offered them kits, certificates and a token of love.

Members Of Liberation League of B.dere Pour Encomiums On Gokana council Boss....

The Executive Chairman of Gokana LGA, Chief Hon. Confidence Nyima Deko who has doused the anticipation of many with his leadership style, governance, infrastructural and human capital development in Gokana today receives Members of the Liberation League of B.dere Community.

The President of the group (L.L.B) Hon. Baribor Dee who doubles as the chief of staff to the executive chairman of Gokana said the group deem it necessary paying the council boss a courtesy visit in a bid to show appreciation and thanking him because of the unprecedented developmental strides.

The Group Liberation League of B.dere (L.L.B), presented an Award to the chairman; a magnificent Photo Portrait and a coveted award of honour to their president Hon. Baribor Dee for his appointment as the Chief of staff to the chairman.

They thanked the chief of staff for showing capacity and keying into the dreams of the council boss which has made Gokana the most peaceful LGA in Rivers state.

In his response, the proactive chairman, Chief Hon. Confidence Nyima Deko thanked the group for the love and support given him since the inception of office as the chairman of Gokana more especially Hon.
