Here is the state of Okwaranwa Erosion Site in Achina, Aguata LGA, Anambra State, Nigeria. And the just concluded 2nd May 2024 Public Hearing on Erosion Menace ravaging Aguata communities, held in Abuja.
Achina in Aguata LGA is one of the most affected communities by erosion menace.
The good people of Achina, members representing Aguata, at State and federal constituency, State Government and some concerned bodies have done what they can to control the erosion problem in Achina; especially the popular Okwaranwa Erosion site in Umueleke village Achina, but all the efforts is still begging for federal attention.
However, the President General of Achina Town Union Hon Tony Ezenwaka, npom was interviewed on Okwaranwa Erosion Site and he made his point that despite all the efforts by the state government and Achina community, it is still begging for federal attention.
Now, the people of Achina is tapping on the 18th of July 2023 Federal House of Representatives consideration on the motion by Hon Dom Okafor representing Aguata Federal constituency at federal house of representatives: "Invitation to the public hearing on the need to intervene in the gully erosion devastating communities in Aguata LGA, Anambra State," to ask the federal Committee on environment to consider Achina Okwaranwa Erosion Site as one of the Erosion site that will receive the "on the-spot assessment visit" by the federal Committee with remedial action.
