167 AAU MEDICAL GRADUATES FACE EXCLUSION DESPITE GOVERNORโ€™S PROMISE

EKPOMA โ€“ The crisis surrounding the delayed induction of medical graduates from Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has taken a new turn as 39 qualified graduates have been unjustly excluded from the forthcoming Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) induction slated for February 13, 2025.

The affected graduates, who had previously protested on January 9, 2025, were assured by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, that he would intervene and ensure a swift resolution. However, despite the Governorโ€™s commitment, only 128 names were forwarded for induction, leaving out 39 graduates without any justifiable reason.

According to a statement from the Concerned Medical Graduates of AAU, the exclusion is not due to any academic deficiencies but rather administrative negligence and deliberate actions by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Olowo Samuel, and the Provost of the College of Medicine. The group accused both officials of failing to present the full list of 167 graduates to MDCN, thereby jeopardizing the careers of the affected students.

"This exclusion is not based on merit or qualification but on sheer administrative incompetence. The Governor himself assured us that our issue would be resolved, yet here we are, with 39 of our colleagues still left out," the statement read.

After enduring a decade in medical school due to accreditation challenges and other bureaucratic setbacks, the excluded students are now being forced to sign undertakings to abstain from induction, an action the graduates describe as a blatant violation of their rights.

"It is unacceptable that, after all the struggles and delays, some of us are now being coerced into forfeiting our rightful induction. This is an act of oppression, and we will not stand for it," one of the affected graduates lamented.

In light of this development, the Concerned Medical Graduates of AAU have vowed to resume agitations immediately until all 167 graduates are inducted. They further called on Governor Okpebholo to uphold his promise and ensure that university management is mandated to present the excluded names to MDCN without delay.

The group also expressed a loss of confidence in the leadership of the Acting Vice-Chancellor and the Provost, accusing them of failing to live up to expectations and neglecting the future of young medical professionals in the state.

As the February 13 induction date approaches, tensions are rising within the AAU medical community, with students, parents, and stakeholders demanding that the Edo State Government take immediate action to rectify the situation.

All eyes are now on Governor Okpebholo to see whether he will honor his commitment or allow the universityโ€™s administrative lapses to derail the future of these young doctors.

Edo State Governor Secures Induction for 128 AAU Medical Graduates After Protests

Benin City, Edo State โ€“ January 31, 2025

In a significant move to address the plight of medical students at Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has successfully intervened to secure the induction of 128 medical graduates whose induction had been delayed since August 2024.

The graduates, who spent 10 years in medical school due to lingering institutional crises, had staged protests earlier this month, blocking the Benin-Auchi Highway to draw attention to their plight. Their spokesperson, Precious Omohegbele, highlighted the frustration of the 2015 set of medical students, who graduated in August 2024 but were unable to proceed with their induction into the medical profession.

Responding swiftly, Governor Okpebholo engaged relevant authorities, including the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), to resolve the impasse. Following the intervention, the MDCN has scheduled the induction of the 128 graduates for February 13, 2025.

Edo State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, expressed gratitude to the MDCN Registrar, Dr. Fatima Kyari, for her support in resolving the crisis. Speaking during a visit to the council in Abuja, Dr. Iyamu reiterated Governor Okpebholoโ€™s commitment to prioritizing studentsโ€™ welfare and ensuring that education at all levels in the state receives adequate attention.

โ€œThe plight of students is of utmost concern to His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo,โ€ Dr. Iyamu stated. โ€œThis administration is dedicated to revamping the education sector and delivering quality education to all Edo State students.โ€

The resolution of the induction crisis marks a major breakthrough for the medical department of AAU, Ekpoma, and has brought relief to the affected graduates. It has also reignited hope among other students and lecturers in the institution.

Governor Okpebholoโ€™s administration has taken several steps to address challenges in the education sector, including the reintroduction of monthly subventions to AAU and the reinstatement of staff who were allegedly illegally disengaged by the previous administration.

โ€œWith these pragmatic steps, it is evident that Senator Monday Okpebholoโ€™s administration is committed to changing the narrative and repositioning Edo State as a leader in education within the federation,โ€ the statement from the Governorโ€™s office read.

The 128 medical graduates are now set to begin their professional careers, marking the end of a decade-long journey fraught with challenges.

LECTURERS WILL NEVER TELL YOU THIS IN THE UNIVERSITY
๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

If you are invited for a job interview, at the entrance of the gate or within the Organization's premises:

Avoid or do the following:

1. Politely greet everybody. I have seen MDs and Managers disguise and stand at the gate to observe interviewees.

2. Do not go inside and start charging your phone or begin to look for where to charge your phone.

3. Do not go inside and begin to chat with your phone or make unnecessary calls. Put the phone inside your bag. They could be monitoring you through the camera.

4. Avoid too much talk with fellow interviewees. Don't go there and begin to argue about the government of the day, escalated food prices,s and even lack of employment opportunities. Just be calm and positive.

5. Don't start praying and speaking in tongues to demonstrate your religiosity and closeness to God. Pray at home before going.

6. If they offer you Tea or food, Please reject it politely and thank them. You can take it after the interview. If you take that Tea or food, you are out.

7. Don't chew gum, biscuit or anything. Go with a book and read it.

8. Never ever criticize your previous employer.

9. If you see somebody you know in the Organization, either as a staff or a fellow interviewee, greet him officially. Avoid creating an impression that you know him.

10. Do not appear too Poor, helpless, or inferior before the interviewer. Forget about Nigeria's problems, your personal and family problems. Focus on the job.

11. After the interview, put up a smiling face, thank the,m and leave.

In most cases, interviewers assess and score interviewees by the factors above and not necessarily by the answers they provide on paper. They'll train you eventually to do the job if they employ you.

I know 75% of you would be focusing on the attached pictures.
