UpSwitch Tech and Jasper GP Create the First Nigerian-Made Power Bike (LEAST QUALITY, — LAYER 1)

Osawele Emmanuel, the founder of UpSwitch Tech from Edo State, and Jasper Silas Eluwa from Abia State, have announced the creation of the first Nigerian-made power bike, designed with future innovations and advanced technologies in mind.The power bike, created from scratch through the assembly and modification of parts to meet power bike standards, is a five-gear machine with top speed and minimal fuel consumption.

According to Emmanuel and Jasper, the engine and components of the power bike were meticulously modified to create a machine that meets the expectations of power bikers.

In Emmanuel's comment on Daniel Regha's post on X (formerly Twitter), he responded to a user, saying, "The power bike does everything a power bike would do." He also mentioned, "The design is according to the amount put in, hence Layer 1, least quality. With higher cash, the quality will be advanced. "The quotes above were extracted from Emmanuel's response to misconceptions about the "Nigerian-made" label and the claim that parts were purchased and assembled rather than locally manufactured. Emmanuel replied to an X (formerly Twitter) user under Daniel Regha's post about the first Nigerian-made power bike, who had commented, "I can still see many parts they were bought in the market, not manufactured locally."Here is the response Emmanuel, co-creator of the first Nigerian-made power bike, gave to the X user:"The last time I checked Google’s English dictionary provided by Oxford Languages, "MAKE" means "form (something) by putting parts together or combining substances; create", — and Google’s English dictionary provided by Oxford Languages went on to give an example and they said "my grandmother made a dress for me"So, if you with your mouth confess that parts were bought and put together and Oxford dictionary says by doing this, you have made something, which means First Nigerian Made is correct, what then do you have to say concerning this?This is gear 5 power bike, fully modified, the engine was modified.It does everything a power bike would do. “When we met in November, the leadership had to plead with members to allow government to use the months of November and December to address our concerns thinking it would have done so by now, but here we are on the same old story.

“So, now, we are going to reconvene our meeting early January and take a decisive direction immediately if nothing is done by then by the government.”

He noted that the congress of the union had already endorsed an industrial action as a way out of the situation and that the leadership will now go ahead to implement the decision of the congress.

He said the union does not need to give government a new notice before declaring industrial action as notice to that effect had been given and even extended several times in the past as required by labour laws on the subject without government taking action.

“ASUU has concluded its own meeting with the committee with the hope that government representatives will go back to government with the issues raised and the understanding reached and then come back to us to sign a fresh agreement, but as we speak, we have not heard anything from them now more than two weeks after we concluded the meeting.

“So, for how long do we wait again for a feedback on the same issues that have been on for many years?” Osodeke queried.

JAMB Admission Issues Among Students

We have received numerous complaints from students regarding issues with JAMB. Recently, JAMB enforced the rule of "No JAMB Admission, No Entry," which has posed significant challenges for many newly admitted students. Without a valid JAMB admission, students cannot be enrolled at AAU, causing delays in the overall admission process.

Additionally, JAMB has mandated that for graduating students to be eligible for NYSC, the course listed on their JAMB portal must match the one they studied in school. Without this alignment, students cannot proceed to NYSC until their admission status is rectified on the JAMB portal. This has become a pressing issue for many students.

Furthermore, some students have had their admission status invalidated by JAMB for reasons best known to the board, leaving them under "investigation." These students were initially admitted on the JAMB portal but later had their statuses deactivated. We have received numerous complaints from affected students in this category.

We highlight these issues to urge the school management to assist students in facilitating the resolution of these problems with JAMB as we move into 2025. These challenges have caused significant distress among students, with many reporting feelings of depression as a result.

This raises a critical question: When issues arise with JAMB, should the students bear the burden of these problems, or should JAMB and the school work together to resolve them?
