In 1984, Governor Ambrose Folorunsho Alli was sentenced to 100 years in prison by the military regime led by General Muhammadu Buhari for allegedly misappropriating N983,000 intended for a road project.

Five years later, on his 60th birthday, September 22, 1989, Alli passed away. The Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo State, originally founded by him as Bendel State University, was named in his honor..

UPDATE:
On Aug 19, 2024, Christianah Idowu, a 300L student of The Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta was on her way from Ita Oluwo to the University of Lagos in Yaba where she was undergoing industrial training. Suddenly it started raining so she took cover in Ayomide Adeleye’s family shop which was just outside his house. Ayomide was a 200 Level Philosophy student of The Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State. He invited Christianah into his house when the rainfall became intense. While in his house, he attempted to take advantage of her but she resisted. He then k!lled her out of anger. At 8:50pm on that same day, he took Christianah’s phone and sent the mum a message that her daughter had been k!dnapped and she must pay a ransom of N3million for her release. The mum begged him that she could only raise N350,000. He told her to go look for more. It was the military that eventually tracked Christianah’s phone to Ayomide’s residence where they picked him up.

He confessed to burying her in a shallow grave in his compound. He has been handed over to the Lagos State Police today by The Army.......
