*Edo Assembly commits Bill to institutionalize Edo state Oil Palm Industry to its committee on Agriculture and Food Security*

Edo State House of Assembly, on resumption of plenary today, committed the Bill for a legal framework for the establishment of the Edo State Oil Palm program for the development of the Edo state Oil Palm Industry and other connected purposes to its committee on Agriculture and Food Security after debating on the merits and demerits.

Leading the debate on the merits of the Bill, member Representing Ovia North East(1) and majority leader of the House, Hon Charity Aiguobarueghian said the Bill is timely as it will be a stitch in time due to its importance as it was the mainstay before the Advent of Crude Oil.

Hon Charity Aiguobarueghian said in time past, the Benin kingdom flourished in Agriculture especially Palm Oil and other derivatives.
He called for the support of Other members towards the passage of the bill for the success of the industrialization drive of the state.

In their contributions, members representing Esan South East, Hon Osezua Sunday Ojiezele; Esan North East (2), Hon Maria Edeko Esq and Esan North East (1), Hon Emakhu Isibor Adeh
were of the view that this Bill when passed, would create job opportunities for the teeming youths, create wealth for the farmers, and ensure orderliness in the Palm produce business.

Summing up the debate, the Speaker, thanked members for the robust deliberations and committed it to the Committee on Agriculture and Food Security for further legislative action.

Also during plenary, the house received a petition from Charles A Asemota & co dated July 26th July, entitled "Re- sponsoring of community crisis, a threat to life and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and Order" by one Pastor Solomon Folorunsho in Uhuogua community.
The petition was referred to the public petitions to report back in two weeks.

The House observed a minute silence in honor of the late First female Senator, Princess Franca Afegbua after a personal explanation by the Member Representing Etsako East, Hon Kingsley Ugabi. The Speaker eulogized the late Senator Franca Afegbua.

Rt Hon Blessing Agbebaku announced the presence of the National Association of Political Science Students, University of Benin in the gallery, who came to Observe the plenary.
The House thereafter adjourned to Tuesday, 1st of August, 2023.

As congratulatory messages and Visits continue to pour in, The People's Democratic Party members of Ugboko Ward five (5) and Ugo PDP Ward Leaders led by the Ward Vice Chairman of PDP, Mr. Ekhator Friday yesterday described the victory of the Member -Elect for Orhionmwon South Constituency in Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Bright Iyamu as a divine emergence, adding that God actually heard the unrelenting prayers of the good people of the Constituency.

The group leaders in their congratulatory remarks, admonished Hon. Bright Iyamu to remain committed in promoting activities which sought to develop Orhionmwon South Constituency, as they all prepare ahead of the swearing -in Ceremony.

The Member -Elect however appreciated the group for the show of love which he described as a joy for Orhionmwon South. He further assured them that his administration will be inclusive and transforming.

This is the case of Hon ASORO! For equity sake, Uhunmwonde LGA was born out of Orhionmwon LGA, Uhunmwonde LGA can not take both senate and Rep. While Orhionmwon LGA who is their elder brother will be watching akimbo, God forbid! Orhionmwon has 12 wards as against 10 wards in Uhunmwonde, Orhionmwon has 2 constituencies as against one in Uhunmwode, so, in all ramifications Orhionmwon deserves this house of representatives seat.

Suffice to say that, no right thinking Orhionmwon indigenes will vote for other candidates except Hon ASORO. It is a clarion call to all and sundry in Orhionmwon (Ugu& Evboesi ward) across political parties to vote massively for Hon ASORO. Orhionmwon should act fast "a stitch in time saves nine"

In the Easter message released on Saturday, Iyamu re-emphasized that, Easter season is a sacred one filled with God’s undeniable love, blessings and redemptive power, following the birth, death, and resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

While congratulating all Christians in the Constituency, Iyamu urged them to celebrate moderately and never forget the lessons as well as the reasons for the season, which is the sacrificial death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, as he admonished Christians to always remain magnanimous in adhering to the part of peace and love, which is the main teachings of Christ the saviour, after which he assured the people accurate representation as soon as they are being sworn in.

I have inaugurated the governing board for the state’s primary healthcare development agency, to help bolster our efforts at repositioning the healthcare system and promoting access to quality healthcare services by the people. The event was held at the Government House in the state capital.
