GOODS WORTH MILLIONS OF ₦AIRA WERE LOST TO INFERNO IN ẸDẸ

No fewer than 5 lock-up shops were destroyed when a fire broke out in the middle of the night at the Tomori compound in Òde Òkè, opposite St Peter's Anglican Primary Church.

According to the report from one of the Tomoris, the incident happened in the middle of the night around to 12 midnight with the suspense that the fire must have started immediately IBEDC restored electricity to Cottage feeder but nobody was aware since the shops were locked up. He added that they were alerted by motorcycle riders who raised their voice to call the attention of people living around the building.

According to another witness, the flames were said to be horrible, burning several properties and goods in those shops, which prompted some people to visit the fire station in Ọjà Timi. Alas, they were told there was no equipment for them to arrest the situation. People resulted to self help to stop the fire.

Men of Nigeria Army, Nigeria Police, Amotekun were on ground and all assisted in stopping the fire from getting to another building, but unfortunately goods worth millions of ₦aira were destroyed. Tailor/fabric seller, Hairdresser, Aluminium fabricator, "Worobo seller" are among occupiers of those shops.

PHOTOS: Police Patrol Lagos Ahead Of Independence Day Rallies

Men of the Rapid Response Squad and the Lagos Task Force have embarked on a patrol of the Lagos metropolis ahead of Saturday’s Independence Day and planned political rallies in the state.

Some of the policemen were seen at the Lekki Tollgate, a venue which the Federal High Court in Lagos had directed the supporters of the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, not to gather at.

In a tweet, the RRS said, “In continuation of its routine convoy patrol of the metropolis as directed by the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi is presently leading RRS team and Lagos Taskforce on convoy patrol of the city.”

15 Years After: Timi Tijani Ajagbe Oladokun Oyewusi Agbonran II Lives On

Unarguably, Timi Agbonran II (June 18,1976 - August 21, 2008) was one of the founding fathers of Osun State. Alongside other signatories which included the immediate past Ooni of Ife, Oba Sijuwade Okunade, Owa-Obokun of Ilesa, Orangun of Ila, Oba Willian Ayeni, Timi Agbonran was one of the signatories to the final memo of April 24, 1991which mid-wived the birth of Osun State on August 27, 1991.
“In 1991, eleven years after the demise of Oba Adesoji Aderemi, there was a need for reconciliation and an eleven-man steering committee, headed by the Olufin of Gbongan, Oba Solomon Babayemi, as chairman, was set up for the purpose. Mr. Abiola Ijiwoye (from Ile-Ife) was a member. On 24th April, 1991, the seventh and final memorandum was endorsed by the Obas and community leaders. Signatories include the Ooni of Ife, Owa-Obokun of Ilesa, Orangun of Ila, Ataoja of Osogbo, Timi of Ede, Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Akirun of Ikirun, Olokuku of Okuku. Ogboni of Ijebu-Jesa, Olumoro of Moro, Aree of Ire, Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Olufon of Ifon-Osun, Olobu of Ilobu, Elerin of Erin-Osun, Olunisa of Inisa, Olowu of Orile-Owu. Oludo of Ido-Osun, Alawo of Awo, Olubaagun of Obaagun, Olufi of Gbongan, Ogboni of Ibokun, Alapomu of Apomu, Olukoyi of Ikoyi, Olubosin of Ifetedo, Olobaoke of Oba-Oke, and Adeoke of Ido-Oke. The memorandum was forwarded to the Federal Government through the Military Governor of Oyo State. The Owa Obokun of Ilesa led the delegation of Obas to present the signed documentation to the Governor.

ATIKU PLEDGES TO WORK TO UNIFY THE COUNTRY AS HE RECEIVES HEROIC WELCOME IN JADA

It was a triumphant entry for the Peoples Democratic Party's flag bearer in the forthcoming presidential elections, His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (GCON), as he storms Jada, his home town in a grand style.

Welcoming the Wazirin Adamawa in a civic reception organized in his honor, the Jada Local Government Area council chairman, Hon. Salihu Mohammed So'o, stated how proud they are of their son Atiku and pledged their loyalty and support for his candidature in the presidential elections.

In his address at the occasion, Senator Dino Melaye highlighted the significance of the home coming which shows that the former vice-president knows his roots, unlike some other candidates whose background are shrouded in mystery and confusion. He stated that Atiku is the most credible candidate, being a detribalized statesman who has what it takes to save the country from the seemingly intractable sociopolitical logjam.

On his part, the Adamawa State governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri thanked Atiku for identifying with his people. He assured the PDP standard bearer of their support which will ensure victory for Atiku at the polls, in order for him to use his wealth of experience and uncommon patriotic zeal to rescue the country and reposition her to achieve greater prosperity for all.

On his part, the PDP standard bearer thanked his people for their prayers and good wishes. He urged them to exercise their electoral franchise in his favour, which will enable him to take back the country and ensure a better future for all. He reiterated his resolve to be a good ambassador of his people and the country and promised to work for the unity, peace and progress of the nation, if elected.
