I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death.. Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength..

The more things you love, the more you are interested in, the more you enjoy, the more you are indignant about, the more you have left when anything happens.. I know my country has not perfected itself. At times, we've struggled to keep the promise of liberty and equality for all of our people. We've made our share of mistakes, and there are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions.
But door to door campaign should be our responsibility for a better tomorrow.

NO MORE CONSENSUS IN THE ELECTION OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES OF POLITICAL PARTIES: APC MAY NOT HAVE CANDIDATES FOR THE 2023 ELECTION:
The 2022 Electoral Act 2022 has banned the use of consensus or imposition in the election of the executive committee and other governing of political parties.
Section 82 subsection 3 of the Electoral Act provides as follows thus:
“The election of members of the executive committee or other governing body of a political party, including the election to fill a vacant position in any of the aforesaid bodies, shall be conducted democratically and allowing for all members of the party or duly elected delegates to vote in support of a candidate of their choice ”
Section 82 subsection 3 of the Electoral Act takes precedence over constitutions of political parties that have provision for the use of consensus to elect executive committees or other governing bodies of political parties.
The consequence of the violation of section 82 subsection 3 of the Electoral Act is that APC will have an executive committee that is illegal and any primary election conducted by such an illegal Executive Committee will be void.
Ultimately APC stands the risk of not having candidates in the 2023 general election.

*Breaking News:*

State Chairman of the PDP, Venatius Ikem caught with large chunk of INEC materials in Ogoja, now under detention.

What is Vena doing on election day in a federal constituency that he has no polling unit?

Even Governor Ben Ayade as Chief Security Officer of the State with immunity has so far stayed back in Obudu his hometown and has not interfered in the process.

Only God knows how Vena took possession of that large chunk of INEC materials while heading to an unknown destination.

Ogoja/Yala bye-election: JARIGBE AND HIS CULTISTS IN POLICE TROUBLE

Ahead of today’s Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency bye-election, the Cross River State Police Command has arrested hundreds of cultists and hoodlums during a late night raid on some black spots in Ogoja.

Sources in the state force headquarters revealed that the cultists and hoodlums who were caught with different kinds of weapons and drugs, have been moved to Calabar for subsequent transfer to Abuja.

The arrested cultists and hoodlums have so been making useful disclosures to the police, including the fact that they were hired by a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) member, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, to cause mayhem during the election.

It is understood that a similar raid is ongoing along the Akpabuyo/Bakassi axis to ensure hitch free bye-election for Akpabuyo State Constituency

It is also understood that the police has stepped up measures to nip in the bud, any potential threat to the polls by deploying special aircraft that would be mounted with special cameras to scan every polling unit and pick out any cultist or hoodlum carrying weapon.

Press Statement!!!

Senate Committee did not propose creation of 20 New States
Our attention has been drawn to a media report that the Senate Committee of Review of 1999 Constitution has proposed the creation of additional 20 States.
The report is a gross misrepresentation of the decision of the committee on the request for creation of more states. Far from recommending creation of any state, the Senate Committee, while acknowledging receipts of several Bills proposing creation of new states, decided that it is not in a position to recommend or proposed the creation of any state unless there is compliance with the provisions of section 8 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic as amended.
For ease of reference, Section 8 of the Constitution provides:
An Act of the National Assembly for the purpose of creating a new State shall only be passed if-
(a) a request, supported by at least two-thirds majority of members (representing the area demanding the creation of the new State) in each of the following, namely -
(i) the Senate and the House of Representatives,
(ii) the House of Assembly in respect of the area, and
(iii) the local government councils in respect of the area,
is received by the National Assembly;
(b) a proposal for the creation of the State is thereafter approved in a referendum by at least two-thirds majority of the people of the area where the demand for creation of the State originated;
(c) the result of the referendum is then approved by a simple majority of all the States of the Federation supported by a simple majority of members of the Houses of Assembly; and
(d) the proposal is approved by a resolution passed by two-thirds majority of members of each House of the National Assembly.
In view of the above, the Senate Committee is not in a position to propose creation of any state as reported. Rather the committee decided to refer the requests received to Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure compliance with section 8 of the

*SUPPORT FOR MSMEs WILL CONTINUE, OSINBAJO ASSURES AFTER INAUGURAL LECTURE AT BABCOCK UNIVERSITY*

*Prof Oduyoye, the inaugural lecturer, to small business owners: integrity, customer satisfaction key to success

A pivotal element of the Buhari administration's economic direction is providing support to Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in order to raise hope, create jobs and opportunities that will produce growth and development in the country.

This was the summation of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, yesterday at Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, where he was Special Guest of Honour at the University’s 33rd Inaugural Lecture, titled “From the Small Business to Big Business: A Future with Little Hope,”’ delivered by Prof. Oluseyi Oduyoye.

Earlier in the lecture, Prof. Oduyoye, who attended Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos, at the same time with the Vice President, said while there was much to be done in the MSMEs space to achieve the desired objectives, issues around integrity in the conduct of small businesses has to be addressed as well. He submitted that lack of integrity is among factors militating against the growth of small businesses in the country.

He urged “aspiring small business owners who have the ambition of becoming big players in the future to note that the qualities of integrity and customer satisfaction are key to the success of any business.”

Prof. Oduyoye, a professor of Business Administration, further stated that as significant as MSMEs are to the economy of nations, it is noteworthy that the financing gap for the sector in many developing countries is a militating factor for growth. Hence the need for government, particularly the Federal Government, to give more financial assistance to small businesses.

Prof. Osinbajo who spoke briefly at the end of the inaugural lecture noted that Federal and State Governments "must keep working on small businesses because that is

Along came President Muhammadu Buhari!

In the early days of his administration, President Buhari thought the resting place of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Nigeria's 1st President popularly called Zik of Africa, was an eyesore and not befitting of his status.

He set out to build, furnish and then commissioned it.

Today, our Diokpa has a befitting elegant Mausoleum as his final resting place.

*WHY KANO IS HOME TO ALL NIGERIANS – OSINBAJO*

*VP graces coronation of Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero

Beyond its proud history and traditions, Kano is a melting pot of diverse tribes and cultures and a place that is home to all and for all Nigerians, where they can co-exist peacefully regardless of differences, according to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.

Prof. Osinbajo stated this today in Kano, during the coronation of Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the 15th Emir of Kano, where he represented President Muhammadu Buhari.

The event which drew dignitaries from far and wide featured, besides the administration of the oath, and the formal presentation of the Staff of Office to the Emir, traditional rites, prayers, recitals and speeches.

The Vice President, who conveyed the President’s warm felicitations and personal good wishes to the State government and people of Kano, described the coronation as ‘historic’, while noting that Kano is revered as a major commercial and economic centre in sub-Saharan Africa.

“It is only the tolerance of the culture of Kano, where opposite ideas can co-exist peacefully, that you could have a thriving free market economy, with several millionaires and yet also be the base of radical left of Centre political ideas. This is after-all the city of the socialist man of the masses, Mallam Aminu Kano and many of his disciples. Kano is also the home of the richest man in Africa, Alhaji Aliko Dangote,” he said.

He added that, “we are all proud of this city; proud of its legacy of tolerance and warmth and very proud that it indeed remains home to all and for all Nigerians, regardless of tribe and ethnicity, and the melting pot of diverse tribes and cultures assimilated into a robust, vibrant and cohesive whole.”

"The most idiotic thing I've heard from people after Nnamdi Kanu's arrest, is people saying "Government should put in the same effort to deal with Boko Haram and bandits"

Really? So all the bombardment of Sambisa and other Boko Haram locations, and bandit hideouts, with Jet fighters, helicopter gunships and land troops, leading to the killing and arrest of many bandits (and terrorists) is no effort?

Do you know how many security personnel we have lost in the fight against insurgents and bandits?

Yet you say no effort is being made?

Mind you, there was little or no effort made in the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu.

They only told him to come and collect $10 million dollars in Addis Ababa, and the Mugu fell for it.

The real effort is in Sambisa, Birnin Gwari, Zamfara, Katsina and other insurgents hideouts, where we have lost men and routed criminals in the process."
