Never compete with those who are more than you academically or otherwise; if you continue to do that, the chances are, in the long run, you'll become resentful of their feats. Moreso, there is nothing you can do to deter their accomplishments or feats; God isn't from your village. Instead, seek their mentorship, defeat your self-seeking ego, be open-minded and teachable, learn from them, befriend them, and show them that you are passionately willing to learn and become better, too. A subtle request like, Sir/Ma, can you mentor me up the ladder of hitting a first- or second-class upper CGPA will enable you to excel greatly and also afford you the privilege to dine and whine with them along the journey — Give it a shot, and thank me later.
The greatest form of competition is that of oneself—competing to be better than who you were yesterday.
