NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT CONCLUDES PAYMENT OF COMPENSATION TO AFFECTED PERSONS TO SPEED UP THE BIDA/MINNA AND BIDA RING ROAD PROJECTS.

Niger State Government has concluded payment of compensation to all affected persons for the construction of Bida-Minna and Bida Ring Road projects

The payment was part of Farmer Governor Umaru Bago's commitment to the actualization of the Construction of the Road Projects in line with his Urban Renewal initiative.

The Farmer Governor desired that all those affected by gigantic projects get whatever is due to them hence the compensation was carried out comprehensively.

With the completion of the payment of compensation, the ex*****on of the Road projects will now witness significant progress.

The Bago-led administration is determined to implement the Urban Renewal Initiative in all the major Cities across the State.

SALARY IS OUR RIGHT NOT A PRIVILEGE SAYS, PROTESTERS OF BIDA LOCAL GOVERNMENT TEACHERS

Primary School teachers under Bida Local Education Authority in collaboration with their union leaders NUT, NULGE and NLC had a peace demonstration concerning non payment of December salary by the local government chairman.

The teachers, who besieged the local government secretariat and block the federal road lamented that the chairman was yet to pay them their December salary after being screened and cleared, said over 1,000 teachers affected.

The NUT chairman Comr. Baba Alhassan expressed his displeasure over unpaid December salary for it's members despite they have being cleared in the last screening organized by the chairman Bida Local Government Hon. Baba Shaba.

One of the protesters, who spoke with the journalist, said the chairman contracted with one Mr. Sh*ttu to screen the teachers and fish out the ghost workers but the said consultant screen and cleared them since December but up to date they are yet to be paid their salaries.

Meanwhile, team of the Nigerian police sent by the Area Commander appeal to the teachers to unblock the road for travelers and passerby, promise that their grievances will be channel to appropriate authorities for intervention.

The local government under the leadership of Bala Shaba organized screening for it's staffs in the local government since last November to checkmate the authenticity of their appointments but the consultant failed to honor the time of reference presented to the union leaders thereby resulting non payment of their salaries.

NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT TO ENROL FAMILY MEMBERS OF FALLEN HEROES AND EX-SERVICEMEN IN SOCIAL INVESTMENT PROGRAMMES

Niger State Government has reassured ex-servicemen and family members of fallen heroes that it will engage them productively through the State Ministry of Medium and Micro Small Scale Enterprises.

Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago stated this in an interview during the 2024 Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day and Wreath laying ceremony at the Permanent Cenotaph, Minna.

Farmer Governor who was represented by his Deputy Comrade Yakubu Garba, said that the State owes it a duty to cater for the families of fallen heroes and also the ex-servicemen who have paid their dues in serving their fatherland.

He said they will be enrolled into different categories of social investment programmes based on their ages.

The Farmer Governor said the State Government will not allow them to be subjected to poverty and that the services of the ex-servicemen will continuously be needed in dealing with the security challenges in the State.

The Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Niger State Council, Mamuda Baba Ahmed appreciated the efforts of Farmer Governor Umaru Bago who has shown commitment towards their plights.

He expressed optimism that the State Government will redeem its pledge made to the Legion while calling on it to engage the cadets trained by the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissionaires so that they can equally help address insecurity.

Highlights of the event were the wreath laying by the Governor and other key actors, gun salute, release of pigeons and colour match out.

NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT TO PROSECUTE ANYONE CAUGHT VANDALIZING GOVERNMENT PROPERTY AS DSS PARADES 17 SUSPECTS.

Niger State Government has issued a stern warning to members of the public that anyone found vandalising Government property will be arrested and prosecuted according to the law.

BIDA TV reports that the Deputy Director, Civil, Niger State Ministry of Works, Muhammad Kudu Madami issued the warning when addressing the media after 17 suspected vandals of the interlocking tiles were paraded at the DSS Command Office, Minna.

Kudu Madami said the arrests of the suspects were carried out with the collaboration of the DSS and the State Government stressing that the government will not fold its arms and watch people vandalize its property.

He disclosed that the suspects will be thoroughly investigated by the DSS and will be handed over to the appropriate authority for further action.

The Deputy Director also stated that efforts are on to fish out more suspects.

RukotoTV gathered that among the things confiscated from the suspects include two big lorries containing sharp sand, three pickup trucks ladened with interlocking tiles, one Bus, and two tricycles all loaded with interlocking tiles.

Other items include shovels, wheelbarrows and hoes.

Tinubu Orders Probe Of Edu’s Ministry, Vows To Take Action

President Bola Tinubu has ordered a thorough probe of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation led by Betta Edu.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known in a statement on Sunday.

Controversy had enveloped Edu’s alleged involvement in the approval of N585,198,500.00 to be disbursed into a personal account.

In a letter allegedly signed by the humanitarian minister, she allegedly instructed the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Oluwatoyin Madein, to transfer the sum to the account of one Oniyelu Bridget as grant for vulnerable groups in four states.

Idris said, “In light of recent events, the President has directed that a thorough and comprehensive investigation be conducted to ascertain the accuracy and validity of the reported details.

“The government is determined to unravel the truth as it relates to this matter, and assures that appropriate action will be taken to ensure that any breaches and infractions are identified and decisively punished, in line with the Administration’s commitment to public accountability and due process.”

GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO CALLS FOR CONTINUED SUPPORT TO SUCCEED AS BIDA APC STAKEHOLDERS HONOUR HIM

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has reiterated that all hands must be on deck to achieve the desired objective in the State.

The Governor reiterated this during a grand reception organized by the Bida All Progressives Congress (APC) Critical Stakeholders Forum in his honour.

Governor Umaru Bago applauded the organizers of the social gathering pointing out that the event will propel him to serve the people of the State better.

He then called on all to support his administration which has secured funds for infrastructural development among many other things, assuring that the funds will be judiciously used for the betterment of the citizenry.

The Chairman of the Bida APC Critical Stakeholders in an interview, explained that the event was put together to celebrate the Governor for being the first person from Bida to become the Governor of the State.

He described the Governor as their son and brother, assuring that they will give him all the needed support to succeed.

Former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu, described the Governor as a man of capacity to deliver good governance to the people of the State.

He said the Governor has started well, he should sustain the tempo and treat the people with equity.

Other speakers including the APC Deputy National Chairman North, Ali Dalori who represented the National Chairman of the Party, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former Bauchi Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, Niger South Senatorial District, Senator Peter Ndalikali Jiya, Engr. NIGER GOVERNOR BAGO PERFORMS GROUNDBREAKING FOR 44KM BIDA RING ROAD

...SAYS 250KM INTRA-CITY ROADS ARE TO CONSTRUCT IN MINNA, BIDA, SULEJA & KONTAGORA.

Niger State Government is to award the contract for the construction of 250km intra Minna, Bida, Suleja and Kontagora respectively.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago stated this when he performed the groundbreaking for the construction of the 44km dual carriageway Bida Ring Road.

He maintained that his government is "very thirsty to change the state, and it is not apologetic about it".

BIDA Tv gathered that, Governor Bago said the Bida Ring road which would create employment, and increase economic activities in the area among others is under his urban renewal programmes aimed at providing world-class infrastructures across the state and attracting investment partners accordingly.

He further stated that his administration will also improve security, and provide world-class health and infrastructural facilities.

A statement made available to RukotoTV by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, Bologi Ibrahim said, Governor Umaru Bago added that his government will not relent in shifting from subsistence to mechanized farming so as to make Agriculture the mainstay of his economy.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Development, Suleiman Umar said no doubt the project will open up the town, decongest traffic, and improve economic activities in the environment.

Suleiman Umar assured that the Ministry will ensure effective supervision and monitoring of the project.

Boat Mishap Kills 24; Others Missing in Niger Community

No fewer than 24 persons were reportedly killed, while several others are missing after a boat mishap occurred in Mokwa Local Government area of Niger State.

Confirming the incident to some journalists in Minna through a telephone call, the Council Chairman of Mokwa Local Government area of the state, Jibrin Muregi, said rescue efforts are ongoing.

He explained that 21 corpses have been recovered so far, adding that three community members of Gbajibo, Ekwa, and Yankeiade were involved in the boat mishap.

The incident occurred on Sunday, but the actual number of people on board, the major cause, as well as the time of the accident, is yet to be ascertained as of the time of filling in this report.

All efforts to get a response from the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nussaini, proved abortive.

GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO TASKS ALL STAKEHOLDERS IN THE STATE TO KEY INTO HIS "NEW NIGER" AGENDA

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has called on all critical stakeholders in the state to key into his "New Niger" Agenda to reposition it for the better.

The Governor made the call during the grand reception for elected and appointed public office holders serving at the Federal and State levels.

The event which was organized by the State Government was held at the Justiće Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Center, Minna.

Governor Umaru Bago explained that the gathering was aimed at fostering collaboration among all and sundry for the State to prosper.

He said his administration has adopted the event as a policy, to be observed every quarter to provide a platform for meaningful discussion on issues that affect the State and how best to address them.

The Governor directed all Council Chairmen to replicate such in their Local Government Areas.

According to him, "No time for acrimony, It is time to come together, make sacrifices and synergize for a New Niger".

The Governor observed that the state is blessed with abundant resources which are yet to be fully tapped due to lack of understanding and collaboration.

He called on the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi to use his good office to fast-track the growth and development of the state and the country as a whole.

The Governor also tasked the Minister of State, for Agriculture and Food Security, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi to ensure Niger State is considered for the pilot scheme of federal government Agricultural initiatives based on its size, and natural resources.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi and Minister of State, Agriculture and Food Security, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi applauded the Governor for his foresight and emphasised the need for collective effort to bring about the development of the state, acknowledging that a New Niger is achievable.

They both appealed for the understanding of the policies of the Tinubu-led administration, as he is making frantic efforts to better the lives of Nigerians and that plans are underway to boost national policy on food security.

Senator representing Niger South, Sen. Peter Jiya Ndalikali spoke on behalf of the members of the National Assembly from the state and the Speaker Niger State House of Assembly Barr. Abdulmalik Muhammad Sarkin Daji who also spoke on behalf of the members of the state assembly, assured that they will work collectively for the growth and development of the state.

The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik on behalf of the Judiciary also pledged the support of the Judiciary to the realization of the New Niger agenda of the Governor.

The Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora Muhammadu Barau Mu'azu II who spoke on behalf of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers enjoined elected and appointed leaders to serve with the fear of God and do their best in addressing the challenges bedevilling the State.

The Secretary to the Government of Niger State, Alh. Abubakar Usman had earlier said the event which is the first of its kind in the state was to usher in the "New Niger'' Agenda of the Umaru Bago-led administration urging the stakeholders to key in for the development of the state.

GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO ATTENDS THE FUNERAL OF LATE KAGO FORMER CHANCHAGA COUNCIL CHAIRMAN

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago was among symphatizers at the funeral prayer of the late Umaru Kago, former Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government Council.

The funeral prayer which was held at the Minna Central Mosque, was led by the Chief Imam, Mallam Ibrahim Isah Fari.

The Governor was accompanied by his Deputy, Yakubu Garba and some members of the State Executive Council.

Late Umaru Kago died on Thursday at the General Hospital Minna after a protracted illness and left behind two wives and Children.

Similarly, Governor Umaru Bago paid a condolence visit to the Family of Commissioner for Industries, Trades and Investments, Aminu Suleiman Takuma over the death of his Step Mother, the late Hajiya Asma'u Yaya who passed away in Minna after a protracted illness.

The Commissioner who spoke on behalf of the Family, thanked the Governor for the
visit and show of Love.

A Special prayer was offered for the repose of the soul of the deceased.
