Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria (BJAN), the umbrella body of journalists covering the Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) space will be celebrating the 2024 World Consumer Rights Day, with a workshop on Friday, March 15.

The event , which is in commemoration with the Annual Consumer Rights Day celebrated all over the world, March 15, is aimed at raising awareness about consumer rights and empower individuals with knowledge and resources to make informed decisions in the marketplace.

The theme for this year is: FAIR AND RESPONSIBLE AI FOR CONSUMERS.

Organised by BJAN, as part of it's resolve to join the rest of the global community to deepen discussions on issues affecting consumers/customers with particular focus on the plight of consumers in Nigeria.

The workshop is scheduled to hold at the Heineken hall, Nigeria Breweries Plc, Abebe Village Road, Iganmu Lagos, between 9am and 1pm. The keynote address will be delivered by Edward Isreal-Ayide, Chief Executive Officer, CarpeDiem Solutions.

Foundation Provides Free Textbooks to Needy Students

The Tola Olukilede Foundation and Heal the Word Movement are gearing up to give free English and Mathematics textbooks to financially struggling high school students preparing for the West African School Certificate Examination in Nigeria. This initiative kicks off in Ondo State, the founder’s home state.

With education at its core since 1999, the foundation, under the leadership of Apostle Dr. Tola Olukilede, aims to extend beyond scholarships. Prompted by a divine mandate in 2023, their focus now includes practical and physical support, beginning with distributing vital textbooks in foundational subjects. Masud, Patricia Emerge Winners at the 2nd Cycling Lagos’ Grand Finale

The second edition of the leading sporting events in Africa, Cycling Lagos, has produced winners, closing the sporting year with fun and excitement.

Cyclist Masud Garba on Saturday won a gold medal in the highly competitive tourney beating other male professionals at the grand finale of the 2nd Cycling Lagos.

Masud cycled for 1:09:55 seconds to beat his closest rival, Tijani Quwam who came second with an impressive 1:10:22 seconds while Babatunde Adesina came third with 1:10:34 seconds. Despite the stellar performances of the runners up Masud was a notch ahead.

In the female category, Patricia Nunachi who came first cycled for 59:17:10 seconds to beat Ajibade Elizabeth who came second with 1:14:35 seconds and Ibrahim Ramat came third with 1:16:52 seconds.

BJAN commiserates with family, Access Bank over death of Abdul Imoyo

Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria (BJAN) has commiserated with the family of late Abdul Imoyo, Access Bank and the larger media community banking sector over the death of the Head, Media Relations at Access Bank.

Imoyo, a highly regarded journalist and media manager, passed on early Sunday, December 17, 2023 after a brief illness.

Until his death, Imoyo was Head of Media Relations at Access Holding Company and was also the Publicity Secretary, Association of Corporate & Marketing Communications Professionals in Banks in Nigeria, ACAMB.

Clara Okoro, BJAN chairman, described Mr. Imoyo’s death as a great loss to the entire IMC sector, noting that Abdul’s vacuum would be felt, especially with the clear thinking and professionalism he exuded in carrying out his duties.
