FREE LESSON IN EDUCATION

Today, I've time, let me give some clarifications. This has become necessary because of the inadequate knowledge displayed by some people who contact me for technical assistance on some current trends in education.

1. Now, that your Creche, Kinder and Nursery - 1,2&3, that ECCDE you see captures all of them in that category. It's Early Child Care Development Education (ECCDE). That's the right nomenclature for all of them in the current dispensation.

2. That your primary 1,2&3 is now Lower Basic.

3. That your primary 4,5&6 is now Middle Basic

4. That your JSS 1,2&3 is now Upper Basic

5. That your SS 1,2&3 is now Post Basic

The current system of education in Nigeria stipulates that it's 9, 3 and 4. No longer 6,3,3,4. 9 years for Basic Education, 3 years for Post Basic Education and 4 years for Tertiary education.

"Primary 6" now Basic 6 has become a transitory class, no longer a graduating class. The graduating class in the new arrangement is now that your "JSS 3" which is now Basic 9.

With each turned page and spoken word, my physical form protests - aching, trembling, and begging for respite. Yet, my inner fire burns brighter with every passing moment.
