It must have seemed as though I forgot to show up here this week but no, that's not it at all. I have been working behind the scenes. My week started off pretty hectic so I had to take my time, prioritize the right tasks, just so I can deliver when needed.

So this week, I had the incredible opportunity to work behind the scenes at the PFM & Sustainability Capacity Building Workshop, organized by Anambra State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning in collaboration with ACCA!

As the social media manager for the event, I spent the past three days immersed in the energy of learning and collaboration. It was an honour witnessing 150 participants from the various MDAs in the state actively engage in insightful sessions on data analytics, effective communication, and the PFM framework.

How can I forget to mention the one thing that stood out for me: The facilitators. The country head, ACCA Nigeria, the MD of BetaPlus Int BetaPlus and CEO Octave Analytics, mehn! those guys were loaded and incredibly knowledgeable. They could go on and on for hours and still keep their listeners engaged.

It was truly a unique learning opportunity for me and also playing my small role in this impactful workshop. And I am eagerly looking forward to supporting more initiatives.

THIS COURSE IS TOO EXPENSIVE 🤔

I've been watching the previous cohorts of this social media management training come and go, and I've always wanted to join. But due to financial restraints, I haven't been able to.

Registration for the last cohort for the year started in September and was actually more expensive than the previous editions because they added virtual assistance and freelancing skills to the outline.

I registered for it anyways. I'm going to invest in myself and take this training, even if it means stretching my budget a bit.

I didn't just do it for myself, I did it for my clients. The skills and knowledge I'll acquire will take my career to the next level. And I believe that the investment will pay off in the long run.

I recently came across a post where someone left a comment that the price of the training was on the high side. I thought about it and I disagreed.

I've never been a fan of people who spend heavily on things that could have been gotten cheaper, but I've learned that when it comes to investing in yourself, you sometimes have to make sacrifices.

The additional skills that will be taught in this training program are valuable in the current job market. Virtual assistants and freelancers are in high demand.

So if you're thinking about investing in yourself, don't let the price tag hold you back. It's an investment that's worth making.

I'm not one to jot down notes during online classes. I've always been a visual learner and I usually prefer to just listen and absorb the information. But today, something different happened.

From the moment the instructor started speaking, I was hooked. She was so engaging and informative. I found myself grabbing my notebook and pen, and before I knew it, I was jotting down everything she said.

I'm beginning to think the motivation came from the money I spent on that training 😂😂 but whatever the reason, I'm glad that I did.

At the end of the class, she announced that she would be giving a prize to the students who took notes during the class. Ha! 😂 I kid you not, there were literally butterflies in my belly 😂.

I'm already anticipating the rest of the training. The first day was so impactful and fun, and I can't wait to learn more.

I know that the training is going to be challenging, but I'm confident that I'm up for the task. I'm motivated to learn and to grow, and I'm excited to see what the future holds.

Today’s Doodle celebrates iconic Nigerian footballer Rashidi Yekini, an accomplished forward nicknamed the “Goalsfather” for his ability to sneak shots by the keeper. On this day in 1963, he was born in Kaduna, Nigeria.

The beginning of Yekini’s life was difficult as he faced homelessness and poverty. To make money, his first jobs were a welder and mechanic, but his true goal was to pursue football. He soon began playing in front of scouts and in 1981, he joined his first football club, UNTL FC, in Kaduna.

The talented striker played for the Shooting Stars next, scoring an impressive 45 goals in 53 games. His spectacular scoring abilities earned him the title of African Footballer of the Year in 1983, and he was the first Nigerian player to receive this honor. The next year, he helped bring the Shooting Stars to the finals of the African Champions Cup.

Outside of Nigeria, he also played for football clubs in Spain, Tanzania, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Tunisia, Switzerland, and Greece. While playing for a Portuguese team called Vitória Setúbal, he won the Bola de Prata (Silver Ball) for being the league’s top-scoring player in the 1993-94 season.

Yekini helped Nigeria’s national team, nicknamed the Super Eagles, qualify for the 1994 World Cup. Nigeria played Bulgaria on June 21st, and Yekini made it a game to remember. Not only did he score the first goal of the game, but also the first World Cup goal for Nigeria. Overcome with excitement and pride, he ran into the net and clutched it with both arms while cheering and crying tears of joy. Many consider it one of the most iconic goal celebrations in football history and it served as inspiration for today’s Doodle artwork.

He went on to play for the Super Eagles for a little over 14 years, including another shot at the World Cup in 1998. In his 58 games for Nigeria, he scored 37 times, and to this day holds the record for most goals scored for the country.

He died in Ibadan on 4 May 2012 at the young age of 48

Yesterday, I went for the traditional wedding ceremony of a very good friend of mine with my course mates. I hopped into the car all excited, only to realize that the seat wasn't going to be enough for the 5 of us. My back was literally clamped against the door, and within an hour, I was feeling like I'd done some sort of extreme exercise.

But you know what? That whole uncomfortable ride got me thinking about the struggle of marketing a business online. It's like squeezing into that tiny seat – you're trying to fit into this crazy digital world where algorithms change their minds more often than you make profits.

Just like I held onto my seat for dear life, trying to get myself to sleep, sitting on the car floor, etc, entrepreneurs have to hold on tight through the ups and downs of online marketing.

Despite the backaches and car sickness vibes, I didn't give up. And that's exactly what it's like in the online space. You might feel like you're getting tossed around, but you push through. Sometimes you find a viral post and wonder what you're doing wrong or how the top entrepreneurs are nailing it. But it's all part of the stories you'll tell soonest.

So, the next time your online marketing journey feels as crazy as my cramped seat, just remember – it is a test of your resilience.

You've got to keep pushing, adapting, and finding those sweet spots of success. It's like finally stepping out of that car at the end of the journey, a little worn out but proud as heck.

I was working with a client on a new social media marketing campaign. As part of the campaign, I created a series of graphic designs for her. The client was initially very happy with the designs, but she later changed her mind and said that she didn't like them. She said that they were "too colourful" and "didn't fit her brand."

I was really disappointed by the feedback. I had put a lot of time and effort into creating the designs, and I thought they were great. I tried to explain to the client why I thought the designs were okay, but she insisted that she didn't like them.

She then delayed payment for the designs. She wanted to see some revisions before she balanced me. I made the revisions, but she still didn't like the designs. I went ahead to make changes again and after the 5th submission, I was m@d

I was really upset. I felt like she was being unfair and unreasonable. But then this taught me a few things:

📌 Don't take it personally when a client doesn't like your work. It's important to remember that everyone has different taste. Just because one client doesn't like your work doesn't mean that no one else will.

📌 Be professional and respectful, even when the client is being difficult. It's important to maintain your composure even when you're feeling frustrated or angry. Remember that the client is still your client, and you want to keep the relationship positive.

📌 Don't be afraid to walk away from a client who is being unfair. If a client is treating you disrespectfully or not paying you on time, it's okay to end the relationship. You don't deserve to be treated that way.

This experience helped me to develop the attitude of leaving issues until I am in a right frame of mind to pass judgment. When I am feeling stressed or angry, it is easy to make rash decisions.

I have learned to take a step back and calm down before I say or do anything. This has helped me to avoid making unfair judgments and to resolve conflicts.

I was in a sales marketing class and I found myself in a situation where the coach's communication style came as slightly rude and off-putting to a group of students. The impact of this created a negative atmosphere within the class.

A coach's tone and choice of words plays a vital role in shaping the teaching condition.

Instead of saying, "If you can't grasp this concept by now, I don't know why you're even here."
Better put, "Please revisit this concept again as our goal is to carry everyone along. Feel free to ask any questions you might have."

Instead of saying, "You're overcomplicating things. You all seem lost. I don't know if I can make it any simpler."
Say, "Let's simplify this and approach it from a different angle to ensure clarity. You can consult other educational resources or scan the web for better insight."

You can choose to discuss the key points from previous classes and ask them to share their knowledge and personal views.

The consequences of a coach's rudeness will be evident in the classroom participation.

Students may feel discouraged, reluctant to ask questions, and hesitant to actively participate and this will hindered the learning experience and overall engagement with the subject matter.

As a digital skill coach, my key takeaway from this experience was the importance of fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Communication should be respectful, patient, and empathetic, allow students to feel comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification.

Regardless of whether it's a free or paid class, every interaction matters.

I'm gonna share a story of an encounter I had this evening

I just returned from school and had to rush to market to get the chicken slaughtered for my sister. The market closes by 6pm and I had barely 45mins to go to the market and come home.
Getting to the market, I met this handsome guy at the entrance of the slaughter line. He asked I purchase what I want from him but I told him I didn't come to buy anything. I left and after my transaction with the woman who rendered her services, I ran into same guy while leaving. Turned out he was waiting for me.

Him: Hello Nne, I asked you to buy from me nh

Me: Honestly,I didn't purchase anything. I only came to kill chicken.

Him: Alright. Can I get your number nh? Maybe we'll talk from time to time

Me: (In my mind) God! I no dey like make person dey disturb me ooo and this guy looks like someone who would want my WhatsApp line.

NB: I don't give my WhatsApp line to guys. I have two MTN lines so I simply give it out and turn off the SIM to avoid calls since I don't make use of it to browse.

Him: Bikonu nne, just give me your number. What is your name?

Me: Chinecherem

Him: Chaiii! Nwa a amaka. Negodu ogologo
(He was telling his friend, who looked at me and licked his tongue in a seductive manner)

Me: 081652.....

Him: Hope it's your WhatsApp line?

Me: Yes, it .....

Agaba (mad) woman: Bia nwatakiria, Gini ka ina enyere Mpa Chinyere number gi?(Come this child, why are you giving Chinyere's father your number?)

NB: The woman seems to be the queen of the line. I've noticed her scolding and harassing every shop owner and customer. She should be in her late 30s.

Me: ( No reply)

Him: Don't mind that woman. Bia nwaanyi a, mind your business nh. Is it your number?

Agaba woman: O ro gi ka m na-aju? Kedu ihe o ji number gi eme? O kwanu afugo umuaka nu. Ha na-eji okpa akpa sa ezinaulo ndi mmadu.( Am I not asking you? What is he doing with your number? Look at this young girls ooo, this is how they use legs to scatter people's family)

I was already on my way and could still hear her shouting behind me.

Him: Nne, chere. Let me open the gate for you so you won't have to pay.

It was already 6:02pm.

Me: Alright. Thank you.

I left the market with smile on my face. Another boyfriend added to the collection.😂😂😂
As I sat down in the tricycle heading home, I thought to myself.

"I wish I could just hang this guy now then come back and rub it on that crazy woman's face since she's looking for who to term 'home breaker'."

But two things are involved:
1. I'm a good girl 😭
2. He's a married man 🤷

I don't even know how that thought crept into my head 😂😂😂
