๐‰๐”๐’๐“ ๐’๐€๐˜ ๐˜๐„๐’!

It was exactly 5 years ago when the President of United Apax States gathered all the ministers in the country for a hotpress meeting during the war.

He asked them if it was possible to employ security guards to protect the airport and every boundary due to how large the country is.

"Mr President, I doubt this will be possible. It's going to cost us too much." said the minister of finance, Benjimin.

"Due to how large our country is, the number of guards to employ will likely be up to 5,000 men and we only have 700 guards on ground. I doubt the possibility." Chairman of the war council opined.

All the ministers said a 'NO' and had one reason or the other on their lips to support their NO.

"Yes, I believe it's possible."

Everyone turned their head towards the direction of the voice. It was the minister in charge of Agriculture.

Mr. Laurence spoke more boldly to the President, convincing him and the entire council of the possibilities. His words motivated everyone and the 5,000 young men were gathered from every state in the country.

Each of the 10 States in the country recruited at least 400 young men and women who volunteered to protect their country.

It took a YES! amongst so many NOs to execute that impossible project.

Today, there is a clarion call to say YES to our Lord Jesus Christ, (1 John 5:12) to godliness, purity, justice, honesty and virtuousness (Phil 4:8).

Our Lord Jesus Christ came to the world to deliver you from the affliction and works of the devil.
(1 John 3:8). For God Almighty sent not His son, Jesus Christ into the world to condemn it but that the world through Him might be saved.

That is to say, no matter how many sins you think you have committed in the past, it does not matter to God. What matters to God is that you say YES to Him today, then He will cleanse you with the blood of His son our Lord Jesus Christ and will forgive all your sins. (Col 1:14).

I beseech you to trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. (Prov. 3:5). There are a lot of good plans that God has in store for you only if you can say YES to Him. (Jer 29:11-13)

Dearly beloved, this is the right time to say;

"Yes, I believe in Jesus Christ."

"Yes, He died to set me free."

"Yes, I am washed by His blood."

"Yes, I am a citizen of Heaven."

Just say YES! Don't procrastinate because tomorrow may be too late. (Heb 4:7).

Heaven is real and so is hell. Jesus Christ is ๐“๐‡๐„ only way to Heaven.

"Omo na only lecturer wey no get happy home dey fix lectures by 7:00 am o." Chidinma was saying with sleepy eyes. " You sure say that man and im wife no get beef, which kind 7 o'clock lectures be this one abeg? Mtcheeeww." she hissed and continued sleeping.

"Chidinma! Please stand up and prepare for lectures o. Mr. Charles can give an impromptu quiz today, who knows? " Patience tried persuading her roommate to stand up from the bed.

"That's his business. Quiz or no quiz, I can't leave this sleep I'm enjoying o, he should give exam sef." she hugged her pillow and tightened her eyes.

Patience did a quick morning devotion and headed for the bathroom in quite a haste as she was running late.

She wore her blue ankara gown. Put her headtie and books inside her bag. Checked herself one more time in the mirror to make sure she was good to go.

Chidinma turned to see her roommate already dressed.

"Shebi na church you dey go ni abi lectures?" she kept staring at Patience.

"Chidinma, departmental fellowship is today naw, have you forgotten?" I wish you'd just take your bath and follow me. "You promised to join us today o." she sat on her reading chair.

"Me, forgotten? I bin know before?" Chidinma chuckled.

"Chidinma let me ask you a question. How important is education to you?" Patience became serious and Chidinma could see it on her face.

"Education is not important to me Patience. I'm just here to pass the exams finish. Anyhow e wan happen, so far say I pass at the end of the semester, okpari. It is finished." she laid down to sleep.

"Alright! We'll see later in class." Patience closed the door behind her as she hurried out of their lodge gate.

She got to the junction, luckily there was a keke coming in her direction. She boarded it and the following discussion began.

Patience: Oga #100 abi? She had asked to be sure.

Driver: My dear it's #150. Fuel don add price.

Patience: Ahhh! Ok, Sir. Nawao, this country which way?

Driver: By the way, are you heading for morning mass? You're dressed like you're going to church.

Patience: No Sir. I'm going to lecture.

Driver: What department if I may ask?

Patience: Mechanical Engineering.

He burst into laughter. Cleared his throat and continued.

Driver: I'm sorry for laughing at you. That was my department before I graduated from the university. Now see where I am. I also attended 7 o'clock lectures too. Wait! Is it Mr. Charles's class you're rushing to like this? "

Patience: Yes Sir.

Driver: It's well. How I wish I could give you better advice now. Sha don't kill yourself on top school matters o. Education is important, but not in Nigeria. This zeal is for those studying abroad, no be for Naija. Should I shock you.?

Patience: No Sir.

He looked at her and continued laughing.

Driver: It's not a shocking thing anyways. I graduated with First class honours, but I'm now using my certificate to drive keke. It's well my dear. Just don't kill yourself, education is not worth it.

Patience: Ok! Thank you, Sir.

Finally, they got to her department. She paid him and left for class.

"I don't know which devil has sent you and my roommate this morning, but I reject both of you in the name of Jesus." Patience started speaking in tongues as she crossed the road.

She sighted Mr. Charles alighting from his car and she began running to the hall.

He got into the class only to meet 10 students. He was about to tell them to tear out a sheet of paper for their quiz but changed his mind and asked them to write their names and submit them to him.

"If I see 11 names on that paper, your 30 mark is gone. So do yourself a favour by writing just your name," he advised.

When they were done writing their names, he collected the sheet of paper and left the class.

"Just like that 30 marks." the assistant course rep was jubilating. "Even course rep ma no come school." she began laughing.

*****************

"Hello, Daniel. I want to ask you a question." Patience said to the fellowship leader.

"What is it Patience?"

"How important is education to you? Like, do you see it as something worth it?"

"To me, education is a light that erodes the gross darkness of ignorance and illiteracy. Its importance can not be overemphasized. In our world today, nations have risen to the ranks of classical civilization, thanks to the transformative power of education. Those who have invested in it, reap billions of dollars annually. Education makes life easy and universally similar. It's very easy to spot one who is uneducated in the midst of the educated. It patterns philosophies, ideologies and belief systems. It brings orientation and reorientation. As a Nigerian, I can boldly say that one of the reasons for our dwindling economy is the poor funding of education. Countries such as South Africa, which have invested in education are benefiting massively in research and innovation, making their universities the best in Africa. Should I go on Patience?" he asked her.

"Daniel it's ok. You're now making me feel like I'm not serious with my education. No dey too speak grammar for me biko." she held her head as if she was having a headache. "Between me and Chidinma, I don't even know who is now better, because wetin be this, wetin be this? " she said under her breath.

"I still have more to say Patience, just in case you need more motivational words."

"Daniel it's ok. See, my name is Patience but right now, I'm running out of patience. I have another class now. Let's talk another time." she hurried off before he could call her back.

The campus fellowship was organizing an indoor program, which was going to take place at Sis. Chiagozie's room.

It was a program only for the fellowship leaders which consisted of;
Bro. Sunday as the President.
Sis. Chiagozie the vice president.
Sis. Chidera the Secretary.
Bro. Ugochukwu the assistant secretary.
Sid. Lucy the treasurer.
Sis. Anthonia the P.R.O.
Bro. Jeremiah the provost.
Sis. Frances is the sister's coordinator and Bro. Victor the brother's coordinator.

It was going to be a weekend program and they were all looking forward to it. Sis. Frances had volunteered to do the cooking throughout the program but Bro. Sunday refused, saying they were going to be on 3 days of dry fasting.

They didn't see that coming and that decision didn't sit well with Sis. Anthonia, but she didn't want to look carnal, so she kept quiet.

Sis. Chiagozie had tried talking to Bro. Sunday about the fast, but he maintained it was an instruction from the Holy Spirit.

****************

The weekend came so fast. Sis. Chidera and Bro. Ugochukwu had both eaten a bowl of Groceries with floating berries and sweetener before coming for the program.

Bro. Jeremiah helped himself with 2 plates of Rice and ofe-akwu. He had invited Sis. Anthonia, which she declined

Sis. Frances didn't want to offend the Holy Spirit, so she ate a few cups of fried groundnut.

Sis. Anthonia was the first to arrive at Sis. Chiagizie's house. She had told her of Bro. Jeremiah's offer which she rejected.

"Why did you reject such an offer Sis. Anthonia?" Sis. Chiagozie asked hiding the bread she bought behind her.

"But, I thought the fast started this morning Mama. Bro. Sunday specifically said it was a 3days dry fasting. I couldn't disobey Mama." Sis. Anthonia explained feeling guilty.

"Well, good for you my love. Me, I ate noodles this morning sha. I can't come and kill myself. As you can see, I'm about to take tea and bread." she finally brought out the bread she hid behind her.

"Ahhh! Mama! Please can I join you? I'm really hungry." she said touching her stomach.

"Yes, my love. I bought two loaves of bread. As if I knew you were coming. Although, I planned on finishing it alone sha, but let's share." she handed one loaf of bread and the sachet of milk and milo to Sis. Anthonia.

They both ate and pretended as though they had been fasting when Bro. Sunday arrived.

"Mummy! How are you doing now?" he asked Sis. Chiagizie.
"Sis. Anthonia, I knew you'd be the first to arrive. How is your fasting going? " he inquired using his eyes to search for the nearest chair around.

"Uhmn, mummy let me call the rest of them." she purposely went outside so Bro. Sunday doesn't continue with his questions.

Bro. Sunday sat at the edge of Sis. Chiagozie's bed. "Mummy! Come let's discuss something. I want the program to take this format. We'll not do our normal worship. Instead, we'll play worship songs from your phone. Hope that is ok with you? "

"Why not, if not? My phone is free biko." Sis. Chiagozie handed over her phone to him.

*********************

The team was almost complete. They were waiting for Bro. Jeremiah who developed a running stomach suddenly.

"Team, what do you think; do we begin without Bro. Jeremiah, then he joins us later or we wait for him?

Sis. Frances suggested they wait for him while Sis. Chidera suggested they begin without him.

"Mama, what do you suggest? " Bro. Sunday asked Sis. Chiagizie.

"I suggest we wait for him oo, we need to be complete before we begin. Remember, completeness," she said pulling her right ear.

They heard a knock on the door. Bro. Victor opened the door and ushered in Bro. Jeremiah. He apologized for coming late.

"Now we're complete can we begin? Sis. Lucy asked quite upset. She hates people wasting her time.

"Mummy! Please help us with your phone again. So, we'll be playing worship songs from here rather than using our mouths. I want us to pray sufficiently in the Holy Ghost today. " Bro. Sunday began searching for the music app on the phone.

"But why Sir? I can help with the worship songs. " Sis. Chidera offered.

"Sis Rhema, please calm down. Let's do it as Bro. Sunday has said." Bro. Victor tapped her on her back.

Bro. Sunday played the first song on Sis. Chiagozie's phone and it was; Anyi Na Atu Gi Egwu by Mr. M and Revelation. They dwelt on that song for quite a while.

Next was; Awake Oh Church by Theophilus Sunday.

When it ended he clicked next which was; Dallu by Esther Orji. Bro. Sunday was quick to change it because he needed only worship songs.

He clicked next. Darling Jesus. He also changed it immediately.

Next was; Ebenezer by Nathaniel Bassey. This was another nice selection. He repeated the song 3 times before moving to the next which was; Ebube by Adazion I.J.

"Mummy! Seems your phone is filled with praise o, I need worship songs. Let me try the next. Ihe mmuo by Mr. M and Revelation began playing. He left this one to play twice before changing it to Iwoloba Awon Oba by Theophilus and Esther Orji.

He played the next song 'Just Worship' by the same Theophilus Sunday.

Bro. Sunday was beginning to feel like it when he played the next, 'Jesus Iye' by Nathaniel Bassey.

He gently returned the phone to Sis. Chiagozie thanked her for accepting to release her phone.

He asked Sis. Chidera to go on with the praise and worship as playing well on the phone has proven abortive.

He noticed none of them were connecting to the praise and worship but he didn't stop Sis. Chidera. He allowed her to finish before making his observation.

Bro. Sunday was also led to ask how many of them were faithful to the dry fasting they started that day and was shocked to find out that he was the only one.

He was silent for about three minutes with his head between his knees. He finally spoke up.

"Since we have failed to keep to just 3 days of dry fasting from the Lord. We'll be going on a 1-month dry fasting to ask Him for mercy and to seek His face." he stood up, picked up his Bible and left

Host: And the winner, of the 2023 Victor Perpetua Foundation cash award, is none other than... Know that this winner will be going home with a cheque of #50,000,000.

She paused for 30 seconds as she peered into the eyes of the crowd. She could see the anxiety in their eyes. She could feel how tensed they felt and it gave her tummy this special feeling.

Host: And the winner is ๐“๐‘๐ˆ๐‚๐ˆ๐€๐Š๐„๐ ๐’๐‡๐Ž๐„๐’. Woooooooooooh. Common celebrate her people.

The crowd kept clapping as I walked to the stage in my blue suit and milk-coloured pants. I wore the beautiful black heels Kenny bought for me on my last birthday.

"If Joy was a person, then that's me right now. I had dreamt of becoming the CEO of a multi-million shoe-making company one day. I was one but the company wasn't where I wanted it to be yet. With this cash award, I can take this company higher." I thought to myself as I walked briskly and confidently.

I beamed with a smile as I received my dummy cheque. I gave the host a very big hug and a fancy peck.

***************

"Congratulations sweetheart. This is the Lord's doing. I knew you could do this and I'm super proud of you." KENNY.

Kenny and Tricia graduated from the university a year later. Harvey, Kenny's elder brother had encouraged him to apply for his master's degree immediately at Yale University.

He agreed to it but not without the consent of Tricia his business partner. After their graduation, Tricia had learnt the skill of shoemaking. She had this vision of owning a company that produces shoes. Due to her quest for that knowledge, she learnt it very fast and soon got a shop and began making shoes.

Kenny was in full support of her vision and he funded it with both ideas and little cash before he received an email saying he had been admitted into the university.

As much as Kenny was excited about going for his master's degree, he didn't want to leave Tricia behind, but she had made her point clear, she was not furthering her education. Instead, she wants to build and furnish her skills.

With the help of Tricia's closest friend Rosemarie. Kenny proposed to Tricia and she accepted.

*******************

After Tricia read the text from Kenny, she dialled his number which he busied. He called back two minutes later and Tricia was practically screaming into the phone. Kenny couldn't make out a thing from what she was saying but very much understood she was excited.

He had watched the event live on Facebook and he couldn't be less proud of his fiancee. After their engagement, she changed her business name from Trish Shoes to TriciaKen Shoes. According to her, it's a name that will attract favour.

Kenny reached out to Rosemarie once again so they could plan a surprise party. He was done with his master's degree and had applied for a PhD, but first things first, he needed to see his woman and this time around he had loads of surprises for her.

He bought her a house at Banana Island. She had once mentioned she wished to own a house there. He also bought her the latest model of Lamborghini.

He knew the greatest surprise he could give her now was his presence. He planned on taking her home to meet his family, so they could kick off marriage preparation.

Rosemarie was not just her friend but also her PA. She agreed to help him out immediately he mentioned his thoughts to her. She loves her friend so much and always wants to see her happy.

"How do we go about this Sir Kenny? Do you want it to be at her house or outside, like a restaurant, or a hotel? Where exactly should it take place? He never mentioned his return to anyone, not even Rosemarie. They had just a week to plan this whole thing.

Rosemarie got busy as Tricia had given her a week to take a break. It made things much easier for her. Kenny preferred it happen at Tricia's house, so Rosemarie had to think of a way to bring and keep Tricia out of her apartment. It wasn't going to be easy as Tricia was a 'home girl'. Everything happens within the four walls of her house.

Kenny arrived in the country two days before the set day and was also making preparations from his end. Rosemarie had informed him earlier of her plan to keep Tricia out of her apartment. She organized a mini-party to celebrate her boss. Within that period, the decorators will be doing their thing at her apartment.

"Such a brilliant plan Rosemarie. I know for sure it's going to work out as planned," he said to her over the phone before ending the call.
"And when the decorators are doing their thing, I'll also join them there. With that, nobody gets to see me beforehand." he smiled broadly as that thought made him feel like a nerd.

Tricia is a very smart lady. When she got Rosemarie's invite, she was looking forward to getting a huge surprise. Her instinct was beginning to connect the dots. Initially, she thought of turning down the invite, but on the other hand, she was curious to discover if her instinct was right again.

She expected to meet a huge surprise, rather she met a Rosemarie who was always sneaking out to take calls. She sat still and waited for her surprise but nothing was forthcoming.

The mini-party ended as Rosemarie and her other colleagues prayed for their boss, asking God for more favours upon her and the company.

Rosemarie offered to drive her Tricia back to her apartment. Now Tricia was done with all her antics. She blatantly turned her down saying she could drive herself back home. Rosemarie didn't want to push further, she let her have her way. She had called Mr. Kenny to notify him of Tricia's refusal to be driven home.

"Ahhh! She's already suspecting you, Rosemarie. Allow her to drive herself back home, you just follow her behi... Oh, she just sent me a text. Rose hold on." he read her SMS and laughed out loud. "Rosemarie you're safe. She said she was just a little bit under the weather and she needed to rest. Hope you were able to pick up the keys to her apartment? " Kenny asked lying comfortably on Tricia's bed.

"Yes Sir! Before she finds out I'll be there with the excuse that I was rushing to bring her the keys." Rosemarie kept her eyes on the road.

"Oh! That's a good one Rosemarie." he stood up as he heard her honking. "It's show time." he arranged the suit he was wearing.

Tricia got into her compound and noticed her bunch of keys wasn't in her pocket. She immediately pulled out her phone to dial Rosemarie's number. Surprisingly, she heard a car honking outside her gate. The gateman opened the gate and Rosemarie drove in.

"Tricia your keys. You dropped them I guess." Rosemarie said avoiding Tricia's peering eyes.

"Why is she looking at me like she wants to see my skeleton from my eyes?" Rosemarie asked herself.

She collected the bunch of keys from Rose and stood with her hands crossed behind her.

"Rosemarie! I don't know what you're up to, but I need to rest." she didn't move an inch, as she waited for Rosemarie to leave.

"Tricia! At least a bottle of water to refresh me. I was rushing to bring your keys so you don't stay outside for long." Rosemarie wasn't going to back off without a fight.

"A bottle of water Rosemarie and that's it. You'll allow me to rest." she started towards her door.

"Yes!" Rosemarie said and Tricia turned back in surprise.

Tricia was about to open the door when she felt her phone vibrating.

"Ahhh! 10 missed calls. How long have I slept Chimo? For the love of Mary Magdalene, don't tell me it was all a dream. Argh! It felt so real." ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

How the transformation happens, I've never understood. For over 2 years now it has been the same story." this was the thought that was constantly threatening her with ending up in a psychiatric hospital.

She couldn't help but remember all that had been happening as she sat in her beautiful blue lace dress and pink gele at her best friend's wedding reception.

"Everybody's marriage can't be like mine," she concluded as she cleaned the tear that was threatening to pour out from her eyes.

She had tried to convince her best friend that marriage wasn't worth the hype.

"It's when you finally say 'I DO.' you'll understand that there is a very big difference between vigil and vigil."

"Ngozi! Chinaka is different. I don't know why you're being scared for nothing. I know you're married and I'm sure before you got married you knew that no marriage is perfect. There are always ups and downs in marriage. You've refused to expatiate and come out clean with what you're facing in your marriage and I've decided to let you be. Remember Ngozi, no two marriages are the same." Nkoli said to her friend over the phone.

Ngozi dated her husband for 6 months. She felt time was no longer on her side. She was 30 years old when Eche proposed to her. She felt on top of the world. Of course, her joy knew no bounds. The pictures taken that day were all over Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. She would be getting married to the 'man of her dreams', as she tagged it.

"Ngozi! It's just 6 months oooo, are you sure about this guy? Are you seriously going into this? " Nkoli was worried to her stomach.

"Why not Nkoli? I've given this a good thought and it's either Eche or Eche," she spoke with finality.

Nkoli had talked to her severally until Ngozi began suspecting she wasn't happy for her. She gave up on her inquisition and helped her friend plan her wedding.

Ngozi's wedding was the biggest Nkoli had ever witnessed. The paparazzi were on a higher level. Eche said Ngozi was his queen and he sure made it clear to us. Nkoli was her maid of honour so she knew how much went into planning and making their wedding what it looked like.

Three months after the wedding the robust Ngozi had reduced to Mackerel fish.

"I thought when women get married, they begin to blow up. Why is my friend's case different kwanu?" Nkoli became worried again for her friend.

She inquired from Ngozi but she maintained she was perfectly fine and that she had nothing to worry about.

Two years down the line Ngozi has refused to increase or decrease in size, has no sign of pregnancy, she's always sounding lost during discussions, and she has tried her best to maintain a long-distance relationship with Nkoli.

Nkoli was shocked to see Ngozi at her wedding, not after almost a year of trying to meet with her, but she kept turning her request to visit and invite down.

Nkoli had met Chinaka 1 year ago. Part of the reason she wanted to meet with Ngozi at least for a proper introduction. When she told her over the phone, Ngozi didn't seem to like the idea that her friend was about to get married. She felt they courted for quite a short period. She sees marriage as bo***ge and doesn't want anybody close to her, especially her best friend to enter into marriage without adequate preparation.

Alas, Nkoli got married. It's 7 months into marriage and she has enjoyed every day as a married woman. She's 6 months pregnant and looking so healthy and happy.

She thought of visiting Ngozi, but her friend's line has been switched off for the past 2 months. Could it be she changed her sim card or...

"Nooooooo! It can't be." ๐Ÿ˜ณ

"Yeah. I've also heard of that spot. What is it called again?" she placed the tip of her finger on her lips trying hard to remember the name of the restaurant.

"Don't bother yourself about the name. I know where it's located. Let's get going." Kenny stood up, picked up his bag and led the way out of the hall.

Kenny and Tricia had become so close to each other. They maintained their friendship despite what others thought about them. Kenny was able to overcome his low self-esteem through encouragement from Tricia.

Kenny has always been a bookworm despite his looks. He was that kid who topped the class but would never raise his hand to answer questions for fear of being mocked.

Tricia was able to bring out the best in him in every way she could except making him answer questions in class. He was no longer scared of being mocked but he won't answer questions in class.

Kenny and Tricia arrived at the restaurant a few minutes past 3. They both ordered a bottle of chilled water and a plate of chicken and chips.

"Can you tell me more about your academics? " Tricia asked Kenny as their order arrived.

"No! I think you know more about my academics. Can you tell me more about your academics? " Kenny opened his bottle of water and gulped down almost half of the content in it.

"Nice one Kenny. I see what you're doing here. Who told you I know more about your academics?" Tricia briefly prayed over her food and began picking the chips.

"This is the umpteenth time you're asking me this very question. Today is my turn and I have all day you know. " Kenny began laughing at her.

Tricia paused for a while, staring outside the window. "I just hope we'll leave here today." she chuckled.
"You know I used to be a very bright student. I maintained 1st position only in my nursery school, then something happened." she stopped eating suddenly as she looked tense.

"What happened Tricia? " Kenny was becoming more and more interested in her story but didn't like the look on her face.

"I was transferred to another school. That wasn't the issue because although I couldn't keep up with the first position I was among the first 5. This was just in primary 2 alone. When I entered primary 3, my parents seemed not to care about my academics anymore. My best grade in primary 3 was the 5th position. It was through the help of my friends that I was able to move to primary 4. My grades began to drop from then on. With nobody asking 'Do you have an assignment?' 'How was school today?' 'Bring your books let me see what and what you did in school today.' I began to backslide. I didn't care much until it was time to write the National Entrance Examination. It seemed like an alarm was raised and everybody suddenly awoken. I began hearing; 'study hard, or else you will fail.' 'study hard or your mates will leave you behind.' Did I care again? I doubt I did." Tricia noticed Kenny had emptied his plate.

"Wait! Is my story that interesting? You've finished everything on your plate boy." she began to laugh hard.

"Are you serious? I'm interested in hearing your story till the end Tricia. Don't worry, I'll order another plate." Kenny was about to signal the waiter when Tricia stopped him.

"You can have mine, Kenny. I've lost my appetite." Tricia pushed her plate towards Kenny who pushed it back to her.

"Tricia! We didn't come here so you'll lose your appetite, we came here to eat. If telling me this particular story makes you sad, then let's leave it. Some other time." he touched her hand across the table.

"Kenny! I'm fine. Alright, let's continue from my plate, till yours is prepared. Deal? " Tricia offered raising one eyebrow.

"Deal."

Kenny signalled the waiter and ordered another plate of chicken and chips.

"Long story cut short. I didn't pass the Entrance Examination. I moved to primary 6, rewrote the same exam again and this time around I passed it. My grades in secondary school were very very poor, to say the least. " Tricia began laughing again as she tried to remember her grades in secondary school.

"They weren't too bad anyway, but each term it took God to promote me Himself.๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚
I graduated from secondary school and straight here. At least now I can't blame my failure on my parents. They may have neglected me and my academics due to the struggle for survival. Now if I fail, it's entirely on me, that's why I try my best to read and clear all my papers.
There you have it. My academics has its own story." ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

"Wow! I never knew you also faced something similar to what I faced while growing up. Well, what advice do you have for students out there, especially those who feel they're being neglected? " Kenny was almost finishing his second plate and it seemed to surprise Tricia.

"Uhmmn, to students out there who feel they are being neglected. I'll say, focus on your education. Don't wait to be told to read before you pick up your books to read. If you're currently facing what I passed through, know that you are not studying for your parents. You're studying first for yourself, your parents then the society at large." Tricia said feeling fulfilled.

"What about to parents? What do you have to say to them?"

"Ahhh! To parents I'll say, please pay more attention to your children's academics. In as much as you're struggling to give them a better life, neglecting them at that young age is you failing as well. Children get easily distracted. Except you've imbibed that reading habit in them that they do not need to be reminded to read, please keep calling their attention to their books, especially when they're still in primary school, and remind them often until it sticks. If you let them be for just a week, it's enough to cause havoc in their academic life. Parents please."

"Wow, Tricia! That was deep. I know you were hurt, but I'm sure you've forgiven your parents and overcome the hurt. "

"Why not Kenny? I don't blame my parents o, they did what they knew best. They raised me the best way they could." Tricia began digging into the food before her. It seemed the appetite found its way home. Kenny had also finished his food and was waiting for Tricia. He allowed her to eat without talking.
