During the Chrism Mass, the Bishop blesses the oil of catechumens, the oil of the sick, and consecrates the oil of Chrism. The three oils are further distributed to the priests for the spiritual sanctification of the people throughout the year.

PRAYER FOR THE SUCCESSFUL HOSTING OF THE CATHOLIC BISHOPS' CONFERENCE OF NIGERIA IN OUR DIOCESE, 2024

Aimighty and Eternal God, we, as a Diocese, under our Chief Shepherd, Most Rev. Gabriel Dunia, come to you with grateful hearts, as we thank you for giving us the privilege of hosting the Catholic Bishop' Conference of Nigeria, for the year 2024.

We need your help, for if you do not build a
house, in vain will the builders labour (cf. Psalm
127:1)

Touch the hearts of our sons and daughters,
friends and well wishers to contribute generously
towards the hosting of this conference.
Through their support, may we have all the
resources we need, both human and material, for a
befitting hosting.

We pray for our Bishop and all of us
working closely with him in this task, may the
Lord grant us the wisdom we need to prepare adequately for this event.

Oh Mary, our Queen and our Mother
intercede for us, that we may once again
experience the miracle of sufficiency in the midst
of scarcity.

To you oh glorious St. Gabriel, intercede
for us, that heaven may support us in this great
task.
