Like Dennis Osadebe, Ovie Omo-Agege is making a mark as Illah gets new Jetty approved
"From getting the works done on the Ugbolu-Ilah-Ebu Road to attracting an approved Jetty to be constructed in Illah, such is his desire to see the important facets of human society developed."
-Francis Onyema
In 2023, Deltans would be blessed to have a servant-leader as Governor who has the interest of the people at heart. That servant-leader is none other than His Excellency, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege, the Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Ovie Omo-Agege acknowledges that his position as the Deputy Senate President means that his Constituency extends well beyond the Delta Central Senatorial District, however, the Obarisi of Urhobo Land goes about his mandate with enviable gusto.
From getting the works done on the Ugbolu-Ilah-Ebu Road to attracting an approved Jetty to be constructed in Illah, such is his desire to see the important facets of human society developed. His spirited drive to serve the people is reminiscent of the legendary Dennis Osadebe.
While the respected Dennis Osadebe formed "unbiased opinions on important matters" during his time, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege knows that the only opinion that counts is that of the people who crave transformational development. And there's no better way to transform the lives of a people but to enhance their production capacity. This, the DSP knows and does with aplomb.
First, it was the opening up of the Oshimili North axis of the state by influencing the rehabilitation of the Ugbolu-Ilah-Ebu Road. The construction of the Jetty at Illah follows. The project was one of many others approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and appropriated for in the 2021 Budget Appropriation Act.
Illah, "a small, calm and beautiful town located on the bank of the River Niger" and predominantly a farming and fishing community, can now be opened to more businesses. The multiplier effect of a fully operational Jetty is one that would bring meaningful development to Illah and its environs.
No doubt, the developmental strides of the DSP is yielding fruits already as his political influence continues to grow. Recently, Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa and the PDP celebrated Chief George Okafor, a recalcitrant party man, who joined his party from the APC while the stellar works of the DSP attracts high-profiled juggernauts like his colleague, Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi. It is interesting as Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege forms an enviable alliance with Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi to bring more development to Oshimili North LGA and Delta North in general.
In the heart of all these, we must give kudos to Barr. Alex Onwuadiamu, who has been the conveyor of goodwill to the Oshimili North and Delta North region.
Delta State would be in obvious safe hands with Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege at the helm of affairs.
