Labour Party’s women leader assassinated in Kaduna

The Labour Party Women Leader in Kaura, Kaduna State, Mrs Victoria Chintex, has been shot dead by suspected assassins.

Sources said the gunmen stormed her residence on Monday night and shot her dead, while her husband sustained gunshot injuries.

Confirming the incident, Edward Simon Buju, the Publicity Secretary of Labour Party, Zone 3, Kaduna State, described the late Mrs Chintex as a dynamic, hardworking and dedicated woman who died at a time the Party and the country needed her most.

He called on the people of Kaura Local Government and the Party faithful to be law-abiding.

Buju also called on the police to investigate and bring to book those responsible for her untimely demise.

A 'Precision Air's' aircraft has crash landed into Lake Victoria in Tanzania🇹🇿 on approach to Bukoba.
According to our correspondent the ATR 42-500 was performing Flight PW494 from Dar es Salaam to Bukoba Airport. The accident was reportedly caused by foggy weather. There were 53 people onboard, including 49 passengers and 4 crew members. About 15 people have been rescued so far

IHEDIOHA MOURNS THE PASSING OF A GREAT STATESMAN, MBAZULIKE AMECHI .

It is with deep sorrow that I learnt of the death of the last surviving foremost nationalist, Chief Mbazukike Amechi, Dara Akunwafor at 93 years old.

2. Chief Amechi played a frontline role in the struggle for Nigeria's independence as a member of the Zikist Movement who went to jail in the struggle for a free Nigeria. He was former Minister for Aviation in the First Republic and a great parliamentarian of note.

3. Till his last breath, he believed and fought for a just, united and prosperous nation.

4. Chief Amechi spoke truth to power, irrespective of the danger or consequences to self. He was a prominent voice for justice, equity and good government; a great reservoir of wisdom and vast knowledge about Nigeria and her history, which he graciously documented in his books.

5. I am particularly proud to have hosted his 90th birthday celebration in Owerri in December, 2019 as Governor, naming a major street after him as an honour.

6. He will be sorely missed by his family, Ukpor people, Anambra State, Ndigbo and Nigeria at large.
